I would not take this all too serious, several new versions have been released since then and Chromium as well as Discord are listed in the supported/compatible applications list by now. I am hoping that the third one mentioned, Steam, will be soon as well :).

Fine, our Austrian friend, as you say.

At the general surprise, a new version of VxKex just dropped today!
(No joke, I was opening GitHub while drinking water, I read the release and I almost chocked!)

I made a video of how can you guys need Firefox 122 on Windows 7 with VxKex.

Panda security detects the installer KexSetup_Release_1_1_1_1375.exe as trojan.

Firefox marks te file as dangerous, as well.

I have the same problem. Firefox says all installer files from versions 1.0.0.999 and up contain a virus or malware. I'll give the benefit of the doubt and trust that it's a false positive.

The KexSetup_Release_1_1_1_1375.exe installer is not working, if the Temp folder is on FAT32 disk D:. If i set the Temp to be on the system drive C:\Temp, installer works correctly. I do not know if the problem is related to type of file system FAT23 vs NTFS, or disk drive letter D: vs C:.

Another problem, is the link property settings on 64bit Windows 7. I can set the VxKex properties of an application desktop link on 32bit Windows 7. But in case of the 64bit system it says the EXE file path should start with drive letter, and will not let to save the properties. On the other hand it is possible to set everything in the VxKex global configuration application.

I was able to run an accounting application, made to work on Windows 10, on Windows 7 x64 with VxKex enabled. Without VxKex execution ends with missing dll export.

It seems the VxKex does not work on Windows 7 x32 at all. If I enable VxKex for any application, windows 7 compatible or not , the execution always ends with BEX error.

----------------

Well, after switching to KexSetup_Release_1_1_0_1291.exe, everything seems to be working correctly in Windows 7 32bit.

Anyone knows where it's gone?

It got nuked - there are mirror githubs. If you don't trust those, you can use the wayback machine to grab the archived file before it got nuked.

The project disappeared from the github.

Does anyone know what happened?

Project VxKex is still there but closed, so no access to comments, etc...

Hello, sadly everything has an end... I was been working on VxKex, a tool that allows running programs designed for Windows 10+ on Windows 7, it was amazing adventure for me.

Life has thrown some unexpected challenges my way. My mom had to retire early due to serious health issues, and I became her primary caregiver and because of that i had to temporarily stop the development of VxKex. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has used the software and supported me along the way.

They're not talking about the same Office version. Version 2002 is the last you can run with Office 2016/365 on Windows 7. Of course, the actual version of Office XP released in 2001-02 can run on 7, just the request is to make newer Office 2016/365 releases to run on W7 (2003, 2004 ... 2212 and so on).

Also I'm someone who is tempted to support this idea, as they stopped features updates in v2002, while in v2003, they introduced something I was awaiting for so long : the HEX-based color selector, which is much easier to use than the ARGB/TSL selectors. You can't imagine how p***ed off I was when I saw that.

Is it possible to download office 365 v2002 or previous in a iso or installation format?

I am not interested in admin deployment methods

Guys, don't be naive, all those soapy stories are to distract you and then hit you with a virus. Don't install Kernels from fake sources.

What about modern games? Any benefits from using KexSetup_Release_1_1_1_1375?

The benefits would only be noticeable forthe old DX11 games, since the Kernel doesn't include the ability to run DX12 titles, and that is the biggest downside.

Theoretically, it's possible on the proper hardware, but the development had stopped.
