StartAllBack 3.9.3

Quote

- Enabled widgets animated icons again

- Support for possible future EarTrumpet version with per-display notification area

- Bumped auto-hidden taskbar unhide delay

- Fix wrong windows added to task list

- Fix metro apps not visible in task lists when relaunched unfocused

- Fix icons not loading or not refreshed after app update

- Fix "End Task" text not proper

- Fix task list misbehaving with touch display

- Fix taskbar menu showing empty with some unsupported tweaks

StartAllBack is now available in MS Store, but that install/update method is discouraged.

Recently I've started using StartAllBack on a device with OLED. I'm a big fan of always seeing the taskbar, but I know it's not really a good idea to have a static image on all the time, so is there a way that StartAllBack could get a feature that optimizes for OLED? To (at certain intervals) change the color of the pixels on the taskbar, or shift images around a bit in order to make sure the burn-in doesn't happen? I tried setting a background and make the taskbar somewhat transparent which makes sure a lot of pixels will be refreshed, but the stuff of icons and buttons on the taskbar will still remain the same color and brightness so I'm not sure if there's anything we can do about that.

I would imagine an OLED friendly feature would make it interesting for a lot more users as well compared to the native taskbar.

With a screensaver and the screen turning off, wouldn't that help ?
Screensaver at 5 min and the screen turns off at 10 min, for example

Well, when I'm working I might be in a Word document, an IDE or something and it will be open for a few hours. In the meantime the taskbar is visible. But I just like to have it visible to switch to other apps whenever I want. But the burn-in would happen in a few months already.

I also often have external monitors connected (or multiple monitors to my PC in the future), which also means that the taskbar will be less likely to change often. If the taskbar is smart enough to apply a few color changes, it would already help. Or move pixels around. Or change brightness as well. The changes need to be minimal (so the whole process is fine if it takes a few minutes), in order to not distract but it would be helpful in making OLED displays last longer.

Of course I could set it to auto-hide but thats just not how I like to work and a short time to screensaver or something is only helpful if the computer isn't in use.

Maybe just enable transparency, and let the wallpaper changing take care of the rest (assuming you have a slideshow set up for wallpapers).

Hello, I'm a Korean user.
The Korean language does not work properly in the 3.9.3 installation file.
Unknown text is displayed:(

p.s I tried downloading and installing the setup file again. The language is now showing up normally :)

Hello! I've been using this app for some time now. One of the few apps I actually paid for, lol. Appreciate all the updates and the work you all do.

I do have a request or suggestion.

App specific combine/grouping of icons in taskbar. As far as I know (and yes, I spent an hour looking for a solution) there are two apps that can do this. One is restricted to only BETA users (and might not work with SAB), and the other one does not work with SAB.
The first one is called "7 Taskbar Tweaker" and the other one is a mod used with "Windhawk".

I'm linking them here, not sure if that's against the thread rules or whatever, but both of them have source code, so maybe that's helpful.

https://windhawk.net/mods/taskbar-grouping
https://github.com/m417z/7-Taskbar-Tweaker

I think this would be very useful. For example, maybe I don't want to group explore windows like if I open several folders, but I do want to group WinRAR. Or maybe I want to group MS Paint and paint.net, or maybe I want to group Chrome and Firefox.
And I also think it would be useful if there was a similar option for the labels. Maybe I want the labels for folders, but I don't want labels for anything else.

I can see a bunch of different scenarios here. I'm sure some people would find this useful, and it does seem possible to do. Ofc I'm also open for any working solutions that may already be out there. So far I didn't find it.

:)

I've got an issue where the start menu opens up in the middle of my screen on one of my devices.

If I move the taskbar back to the bottom of the screen, it opens at the appropriate location.

The enhanced classic start menu follows the taskbar as expected. Also, this doesn't happen on two other devices that have SAB.

As far as I know the transparency won't make the icons transparent. Just the background. Unless there's another way

Is most likely a limitation of the default 11 Start Menu since it was never intended to open anywhere but in the middle, bottom left and bottom right (for rtl languages).

This works correctly on two other Windows 11 devices.

Is there a technical reason why we only have the Plain8, Windows 7, Default (Windows 11) visual styles to choose from for the taskbar and why the Windows 10 style was omitted? I very much miss the Windows 10 style jump lists.

Windows 10 is just 11 unrounded, you may run startallbackcfg /magic and enable sharp corners there

Hi @Tihiy. Thanks a lot for StartAllBack, It is indispensable in every PC I use!
I've been using StartAllBack for years in combination with 7+ Taskbar Manager. I know that the two aren't compatible anymore, so I thought of asking you if it's possible to add the double click on taskbar to open programs. I ALWAYS click the icons and a program opens. Before I was using 7+TM exactly for that.
Would it be complicated to add it as a function to StartAllBack?
