Aero Glass for Win8.1+ 1.4

Recommended Posts

Hello,

so I can't seem to get Aero Glass working on my PC, I recorded a little video as to show what this piece of software does to my pc. I donated in hope to make it work, but luck was not on my side, at least I don't get the DWM incompatibility error 0x80 in logs anymore. I am using x64 Win 10 build 10240 with latest update. If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

So here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/j6h27m1llk4wmix/2015-08-29%2009.49.40.mp4?dl=0

The screen starts blinking after I log in and do any action like opening explorer (it looks like graphics driver installation), it does that until the screen goes black and then it signs me out. Then I can log in with the forewritten happening again.

Here is the latest log:

There is currenly no symbols for 10532. But besides the error prompt after logon to Windows, it looks good for the Aero Glass effect.

On Windows 10 10240 RTM, after using Aero Glass 1.4, the windows border will be thicker than the original boarder (see the pic above, that's the very thin original windows boarder), also there is a thick glass boarder around the Start menu (originally no such boarder) and the pop-up Notification area on the taskbar; also the 3 icons on the right corner of the windows titlebar are changed. It's not looking good.

May Aero Glass persist the original windows boarder thickness and icons on the titlebar.

By experimenting with the .layout file, you can adjust these.  I was able to accomplish a really nice look with these parameters.

Anyone else getting graphical artifacts when the lockscreen moves up to reveal the password field underneath?

I'm on windows 8.1, using the latest version of Aero Glass. This only occurs on first login after boot. Afterwards it behaves as it should, without artifact.

This is a known problem.

Thank you. The batch file worked and it did download the symbols – though it didn't change anything about the error message which still continues to appear.

There will be some new folders where the symbols have been downloaded in C:\symbols You need to copy or move these folders to your aeroglass installation, on my system the destination folder is c:\aeroglass\symbols. Once you have copied them across, reboot and the error should go away.

Works. Thanks. :)

Good, check your registry settings. It probably contains reference to invalid glass reflection image. You can use Aero Glass GUI to modify this settings.

if thats with an update then you have a problem - if the update is via the insider program then maybe using search would have saved a post

Download newest symbols for dwmcore.dll and uDWM.dll.

After the latest Windows 10 update I'm getting the same message.

I tried to resolve the issue by uninstalling Glass8 and installing it again in a different directory, but that didn't help.

Is there any "how-to" or FAQ how to download and install the correct symbols or maybe even an easy way to do it, since the instructions I found said I'd have to install Windows SDK and much more which seems to be a little over the top for downloading a few files.

I always arrive the last one, what I make with this message?

I read as I was able to (Google translation thus very unpredictable), the brought answers but I do not know how, where, to download files in question.

If somebody had some time and of patience, that would be good that he(it) tries to answer me.

Thank you

Hi,

First of all thanks for this great software !

Unfortunately, I can't get it to work correctly. I had the message saying it can't hook my version of DWM, then I did the stuff to download symbols files etc... and I don't have the message anymore. But the "blur" effect is not there, just transparency in the title bars.

What can I do to get the blur ? You're refering to "Aero Glass GUI", what is it ? Where can I find it ?

Thanks

EDIT: nevermind, I found the Aero Glass GUI, then changed the blur radius and it works great !

Thanks again !

Download Windows Software Development Kit. When installing choose “Debugging Tools for Windows” only. Depending on where you installed this change "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Debuggers\x64\symchk.exe" locations in script, save it as BAT file and then run. Symbols will be placed in C:\symbols. Open this folder, mark all folders, cut and place them to Aero Glass installation directory subfolder “symbols” (example of this would be: C:\AeroGlass\symbols). Restart Aero Glass, it‘ll be working now.

C:cd %windir%\system32"C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Debuggers\x64\symchk.exe" dwmcore.dll /s SRV*c:\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols"C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Debuggers\x64\symchk.exe" udwm.dll /s SRV*c:\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols"C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Debuggers\x64\symchk.exe" ApplicationFrame.dll /s SRV*c:\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols

Thank you. The batch file worked and it download the symbols and the error message does not appear any more.

its the good thing  :)
