has an update broken or at least changed modernframe - up to a day or so ago the title text was white - its now black - may well be something i have done as i have been messing but before i go looking can anyone confirm

Hm....  The ModernFrame.dll I'm running is still a debug version and is 1,332,224 bytes, dated August 5.  I think this is the latest test version Big Muscle provided as a direct download, but NOT what was provided with the 1.4 release.

Since it's mentioned in the release notes I guess it must be available in a non-debug build via an option in the installer.  It's not in either of the "manual download" packages.  I'm going to run the installer to see if I can get it from there...

...done...

Yes, the Release build of ModernFrame.dll that comes with the 1.4 installer is only 203,776 bytes, dated August 24.  My problem there was that ModernFrame.dll isn't in any of the manual update .7z files, so I was still running the pre-release.  But that was not the issue with the title coloring...

Now, after having run the installer, I have a new problem, possibly related to what you reported, adacom:  Not only the Modern Frame title is dark, but also the titles on my ribbon-enabled windows.

It appears the Aero Glass installer has set the AppInit_DLLs value to C:\AEROGL~1\ModernFrame.dll, and has removed my UxThemeSignatureBypass64.dll entry entirely.

AfterAGInstaller.png

I was able to restore proper operation by putting the proper string back into AppInit_DLLs, which included the names of both UxThemeSignatureBypass64 and ModernFrame DLLs.  I also had to restore the 32 bit AppInit_DLLs setting.  I'm not sure whether the Aero Glass installer had removed that one, though.

So...  If you've used the installer:

Check/correct your AppInit_DLLs values (both 32 and 64 bit), then reboot.

Also, check/correct your color settings in the Aero Glass for Win 8.x GUI configuration tool.

the dark modern frame title started overnight or within the last 24 hours - before that with the modernframe.dll included in the installer am pretty sure titles were white - so something has broken it - its no big deal - white is better for my theme - i was more interested in checking if others had seen the same

as to the rest of Noel's post above - i had used the installer so got the updated modern frame and the wrong App_Init string

interested to check the debug version of modernframe - if that gives white text then will run that

Adacom:  The released version gives me white text, so that's probably not it.

Make sure to check what colors you have set in both the system-wide and user settings.

thanks - will do some checking - just run the debug version and thats also black text so it looks as though its me - first look says settings are correct but i have been messing with other things in the registry plus building my own theme and theme atlas so guess i got something wrong

i backup every couple of days so will go back to earlier installs and see if that solves it

Hello,

so I can't seem to get Aero Glass working on my PC, I recorded a little video as to show what this piece of software does to my pc. I donated in hope to make it work, but luck was not on my side, at least I don't get the DWM incompatibility error 0x80 in logs anymore. I am using x64 Win 10 build 10240 with latest update. If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

So here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/j6h27m1llk4wmix/2015-08-29%2009.49.40.mp4?dl=0

The screen starts blinking after I log in and do any action like opening explorer (it looks like graphics driver installation), it does that until the screen goes black and then it signs me out. Then I can log in with the forewritten happening again.

Here is the latest log:

is all of that needed - i have the first line of the first block only and even then adding it as a reg edit is no good [i think] as i already have an entry in Appinit for my video card so would that not get deleted if it was done as a script file

That's the problem with a single registry field that gets multiple entries - you pretty much need a program to manage it (which I thought Big Muscle might have written as part of his installer, since several of his own programs might appear in the AppInit_DLLs field).

I think you need only the AppInit_DLLs entries shown (PLUS whatever strings you have in there from other sources, all separated by spaces), and the LoadAppInit_DLLs values.

Strictly speaking, you may not run ribbon-enabled 32 bit programs so the UxThemeSignatureBypass32.dll entry under the Wow6432Node sub-tree might be extraneous.

if thats with an update then you have a problem - if the update is via the insider program then maybe using search would have saved a post
