NoelC Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 I jut realized that running the latest Aero Glass GUI tool on recent updates to Win 10 build 14393 is chalking up Explorer crashes... What I see is the desktop go blank/blue briefly when making changes to settings in the tool. I thought maybe it was a new feature to cause everything to be updated after a color or opacity change. Nothing special seems to be logged in the Aero Glass debug.log at the crash times... Spoiler [2016-10-28 11:54:26][0x680:0x684] Installing DWM hook... UCyborg Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 (edited) I've seen some strange Explorer crashes in the past. Sometimes it still happens, but I have no clue what causes it. The crash log doesn't indicate the module where it crashes. If I understand correctly, it's due to stack buffer overrun or something along those lines. It happens randomly for me, but not when messing around with Aero Glass GUI tool. Edit: I had this problem on a daily basis with previous Windows build. Upgrading to Anniversary Update hasn't solved it. Then one day, I cleaned my graphics drivers with DDU after upgrading to newer ones which worked really badly, reinstalled the older version and the crashes seem to have stopped, only after couple of weeks did a random crash occur again. I really don't know what to think of it. I always have latest Aero Glass, UX Theme Signature Bypass DLL, OldNewExplorer and Classic Shell installed. Edited October 30, 2016 by UCyborg
Alanrh Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 (edited) NoelC win 10 1607 - 14393.351 I can't confirm issue. My reliability monitor indicates 1 Windows Explorer event on 10-09-2016 since 10-02-2016 when I first started using the newest GUI. I experience nothing unusual while making adjustments with the GUI. I don't use any theme patches. Edited November 1, 2016 by Alanrh
NoelC Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 (edited) Thanks. Well, for what it's worth that problem has vanished diminished when I put the latest non-AppInit_DLLs experimental components in place. I'm still getting Explorer problems if I cause the Theme Atlas to reload. -Noel Edited October 30, 2016 by NoelC

I'm not even sure whether it works correctly, but there are two different tabs now - Glass colors for Win8.1/10TH and Accent for Win10RS. It currently shows always both tabs, later I will show only the useful one. Additionaly, it allows you to export atlas image/layout for the current windows theme. http://glass8.eu/files/AeroGlassGUI-2016-10-02.7z That link is not working anymore
NoelC Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 (edited) Look in the .7z available from the link near the bottom of his main site: http://www.glass8.eu/download (If your browser doesn't do the right thing by just clicking the above) right-click and Save Target As, and remember to put in the .7z file extension. Then open the file with 7Zip. -Noel Edited January 28, 2017 by NoelC

NoelC Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 It depends on the browser you choose to use. What I said is still valid for IE. Big Muscle's site still doesn't actually set the proper mime type for .7z files. -Noel 1

Actually, I just right-click, and choose to extract. I do have a portable copy of 7zip, but I find it troublesome to use.
NoelC Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Out of curiosity, why "Chrome of course"? From what I can see IE still has the best, most configurable security model - it's just not configured very well out of the box. -Noel

I say Chrome of course because in my opinion it is the most intuitive, fastest, easiest to use browser out there. I install a new OS at least once a week, and sometimes more for testing purposes. All I need do is run the installer, and the latest, greatest Chrome is installed. I then sign in, and all my extensions, bookmarks, passwords, everything are all there ready for me to use as if it were not even a new install. It is just simply awesome. Believe me, I have tested others, and found them all lacking. The only one with potential is Edge, but it is not a finished product yet. It is getting there though. 2
NoelC Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Of course IE is still supported. It'll be supported as long as the operating systems it was released with. See item 5 here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17454/lifecycle-support-policy-faq-internet-explorer It looks like again, we just have differing expectations. I respect your choice; it may make more sense with Win 10. -Noel
dhjohns Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 OK, you are right. IE will continue to receive security updates, but IE 11 is the last version there will be.
mufunyo Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Any clue how to get a 100% opacity accent colour while having a 0% opacity glass? Basically, if I want to see the accent colour, window titles stop being transparent. If I drag down the opacity slider so I get translucent glass, the accented border disappears.
Octopuss Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 So is this program abandoned? 2016 seems pretty old.
