Hello, Could you please help, I'm trying to install Win10 x64 different versions using WinNTSetup 4.2 with compression greater than 4kexpress, as a result, the system does not boot. A message appears that the hal.dll file is corrupted or does not exist. with 4kexpress compression, the system boots normally. i'm trying your scripts with diskpart as well..

8kexpress, 16kexpress and lzx compression methods have yellow color, only 4kexpress and non compression methods have green color.

I have same issue. i don't know what it causes. i tried WinntSetup 4.2 or 4.1.

Don't know why it does not work in your cases, but I enabled exclusions for all builds in version 4.2.1.
(It can be disabled by ini now, see: Tools\WimBootCompress.ini)

Thank you,

i'm sorry for the delay, i was busy with other things, ver 4.2.1 work good now, the only thing, would you please add these 2 exclusions:

\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\*urschipidea.inf

\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\*urschipidea.sys

otherwise, 16KEXPRESS did not boot correctly with Win 2004, i've tested on VMWare

also would you please fix language files, the Russian language did not look correctly,

i've replaced language files from v4.2, so for me it looks good now.

and i've added 2 diskpart scripts: Disk0_uefi_1 and Disk0_uefi_1_no_RE tools.

Script Disk0_uefi did not work correctly for me. (asked for BitLocker)

Thank you for your support.

Some how the VMWare you and I use are quite different :ph34r:

I've reuploaded with fix language file and urschipidea in exclusions.

If WinNTSetup supports Windows 10, why is it not listed as a supported OS in the first post?

Maybe because it was overlooked to add it in the list of supported OS? :dubbio:

Anyway, it does support Windows 10.

WimGAPI Mode Compact:XPRESS4K results wrongly in XPRESS8K (X) Compression, whereas wimlib is giving XPRESS4K (x)

Also WOF_Compress can analyse WOF Status and Compression Algorithm of Compact files.

The WOF Staus of files can be  Compact Or WIM-Backed Or UnCompressed

More Info WOF_Compress support topic about latest release 3.7

@Sonic
There is no such feature, virtual disk expect mounted iso will still be available after winntsetup closed.

@wimb
Thanks for the report, seems MS has changed that in wimgapi.dll.
Will be fixed in next version.

I "Map" virtual disk of a VM under VmWare Workstation (v15.5.1) , format vmdk or vhd, same issue.
I open winntsetup, not needed to open iso or select drive, just open then close , then virtual drive mounted by VmWare gets disconnected.
