I discovered recently this kind of software and I would like to have your opinion on the subject.

Are they really effective ?

TeraCopy is the best one of these imo.

I think TeraCopy is the better one too.

I've used TeraCopy Pro under XP Pro 32-bit and Vista 64-bit. It has worked beautifully for me on both systems.

There is a free version and a pay version of TeraCopy.

yeah robocopy rules the command line. i wish teracopy could be executed from command line without and install as easily as robocopy.

if you want to replace the whole explorer shell, Dopus is awesome (though paying for it isnt)

Messerschmitt, though vista copy dialogs are step in the right direction over XP, teracopy has more options when a file conflicts (overwrite, skip, all etc), can be set to always on top, can pause/resume during a transfer(even if interupted), and when copying more than 1 set to/from the same volume, teracopy will wait for the first to finish before starting the next set. Windows XP/Vista will just copy when told to even if it slows down the other transfers.

@nitroshift - iirc, TeraCopy has an option to integrate into TotalCommander. Give it a try.

Ok, personally I go for Robocopy, but how about a utility that can copy a single source to multiple destinations? I have to make 20 copies of a thumb drive and Doing one at a time just sounds depressing.

What about if you copy a lot of files and a file is corrupted? In Windows XP the whole copy process stops. What happens with TeraCopy?
