  1. I was going to bid one dollar. Even signed-in to just that. Noticed that the starting bid is $1500.00, so I sent you an email instead (best wishes, etc.). This is a quality system. The case alone is big bucks. I wonder if a MSFN Category, For Sale, would be appropriate, even if temporary?

  3. This is different. Check out the step-by-step tutorial: http://unlimitedhardware.com/ Scroll to the bottom of the homepage for neat stuff.
  4. June 19, 2002 Creative Labs released a new Windows XP driver for the Sound Blaster Live "CT" flavors. Creative Labs says that Windows XP has native support for the product already included with Windows XP, but the new driver has been furthur optimized. http://ask.europe.creative.com/SRVS/CGI-BI...3-8B4D0BF791E5}
  5. Thanks AAronXP - Good Find
  6. FthrJack and AAronXP suggested the best methods considering the configuration you are running. Partition Magic works every time for me. If it was my PC I would create a dual boot configuration. This would give you a menu that would allow you to select the operating system of your choice every time you start your PC. We have a running thread that discusses how to create a dual boot system with Windows ME and Windows XP if you are interested: http://www.msfn.org/index.php?act=ST&f=7&t...0bdad5cc4daec6b I would suggest you just jump in to the above thread with any comments or questions. Blackwar and I came up with these links from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/usi...d/multiboot.asp http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;q217210 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;q306559 A thought, since you have a new hard drive it is possibly faster than the old one? I would make it the master if it is the faster of the two otherwise the throughput will default to the lowest speed. Hope this helps.
  7. Here is a nice CloneCD site: http://www.clonecd.net Be sure to get Clony ... excerpt, If you are unfamiliar with using CloneCD, I would recommend downloading Clony and Copy Protection Detection to use alongside CloneCD. These programs help you detect the protection on the CD as well as passing the correct settings over to clonecd. CloneCD 4.0.1.6 "Thanks AAronXP"
  8. rstryker Not to take anything away from AMD as I strongly like their CPUs, but I have featured a P4, ASUS, RDRAM article on my homepage, http://www.msnwar.com , you might find good bathroom reading.
  9. Awesome !!! I want one just like it. No, I want "two" just like it. Can't wait to see the window - Hurry
  10. Posted on Jun 25 2002, 07:09 PM by Aaron Some of the links in the thread to Microsoft's How-To Articles and the white sheets explain the multi-boot process. This link reflects exactly what you suggested and I thought it might be helpful: Installing More than one operating system. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/usi...ted/meandxp.asp http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/us...ual_booting.asp
  11. Like LS_dragons said ... start over. You need the boot.ini to be configured properly and clean installations of both operating systems is the best way. Remember, install WinMe on C (your boot drive) and it must be FAT32! Remember, when you start the WinXP installation it will recognize WinME and ask you which logical drive you want to install WinXP. Choose any logical drive that is in NTFS or FAT32 format (I prefer NTFS for advanced features that FAT32 will not support). The boot.ini will be configured by WinXP for you. Key points: WinME must be installed before WinXP. WinME must be installed on a FAT32 drive. WinME must be installed to C (your boot drive). WinXP must be installed after you install WinME. WinXP must be install on a NTFS or FAT32 drive. These links from the previous thread explain it all: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/usi...d/multiboot.asp The links BW gave you are also good links for technical information: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;q217210 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;q306559 Hope this helps.
  12. Cool ! Is that a fan on the top of the case XPerties?
  13. Rename each local area connection to reflect the network that it connects to. You assumption is correct. This is the same as moving a PC with a LAN previously configured for one network, yet must be renamed to work with a differen't network.
  14. Awesome ! Curious, what is this cable Lezend?
  15. http://www.msnwar.com/TheLoneGunmen/index.htm I think this is so cool. www.thelonegunmen.com
  16. rstryker try here: http://www.pcmods.com/list.asp?DepID=18&CtgID=70
  17. AAron, yea, the one where he takes old hard drives, opens them, scours the platters with Joy dishwashing liquid, puts them back together again.
  18. As AaronXP said. Sounds like you created a multi-boot system using Win ME and Win XP. We have a discussion in progress that would be more helpful on this subject: http://www.msfn.org/index.php?act=ST&f=7&t...0a0653012b597b8 Welcome aboard g-man
  19. Fthr is going to orgasm when he sees this Lately, I have been holding the edges of my seat awaiting Lezend's posts. I just love this stuff. Fthr or AAron, remember the site where the guy worked on hard drives with a sledge hammer, etc.? Do you remember the URL please?
  20. Microsoft claims that Messenger, etc. are so tightly integrated into the Windows environment that if they were removed the environment would become unstable. Experts, DOJ and Microsoft, agree. Microsoft consented to allow the user to remove the shortcuts using the Service Pack since the capability to remove said shortcuts was not an original capability. This also allows OEMs to configure the desktop with 3rd party application shortcuts. That hinges on revised licensing agreements between Microsoft and the OEM.
  21. Thats cool. What prompted the addition? Are the links endorsed by MSFN?
  22. I do this two or three times a month. Follow this link for step-by-step instructions: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/usi...d/multiboot.asp The links BW gave you are also good links for technical information: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;q217210 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;q306559 The key to all of is that you really should install ME first and XP Last. Otherwise, you run into boot.ini problems as you are experiencing. Don't worry about the boot.ini as WinXP will build a new one for you. The first link explains it all.
  23. http://www.siliconvalley.com/mld/siliconva...ust/3497238.htm Can someone explain to a poor bastage like me why the people think that Microsoft should give up its code or any part of it to its competitors please? Is that a fair remedy even if M$ is a monopoly? Isn't this along the same line as forcing Coca Cola to give up its recipe for its soft drinks or McDonalds to give up their recipe for the Big Mac? True enough that people will buy other soft drinks and other burgers. People will eventually buy other operating systems won't they? When people do start buying other operating systems won't that weaken The Beast From The East? I don't know. I have always felt that if I owned and sold something that people bought and used that I have should be able to add to or take anything away from the product at my discretion. If people did not like what I added or took away then they do not have to buy my product. Bad decision on my part, but a good learning experience. Just business in the end. Would I try to force PC manufacturers into buying my product by creating legal licenses that prohibited them from including other manufacturers software and/or hardware? Like M$, yes I would probably cross that line, until the people rose up against me and took me to court. The law claims I am a monopoly and ties my hands from dealing my own form of business practice(s) on the people for all future business transactions. Okay, fair enough. The free enterprise system got me this far and I would rely on it and my business savvy to get me back in the saddle again. So, I say I will produce a Windows that allows manufactures and software developers to add desktop icons to the desktop. I say I will not allow them to remove my own original desktop icons because the Windows environment is tightly integrated and may possibly become unstable and/or inoperable as a whole. Then where will my product be? So the judge says tell me more about what is right and what is wrong with each sides suggested remedies? The people say Show Me The Code and M$ says Not Today or Tomorrow or Ever because I offered a new Windows that allows the people to add their own desktop stuff. And that is enough. grrr
