  1. Meet? Dude, I just wanna drive your truck. Tell the truth, is road kill any better than trailer trash? I heard that if you bump them softly at 100 miles an hour they will lay still for you? Roll-em Roll-em Roll-em! Truck Stops, what is dinner conversation like with a bunch of red neck truck drivers? How many times have you heard the story "Knock em out John" since you started hanging with red necks? One good thing bout a red neck ... he can tell you how to fix your lawn mower. Nother good thing bout a red neck ... ah, sorry someone tore the last page outta the red neck hand book. Later bud MSNwar - The FatMan:blueteam My name is MSNwar and I am an MSFN Junkie.

Wow, thanks! I was mistakenly paying 999.00 a month. And they would have never corrected it either. MSNwar - The FatMan
  3. Would appreciate any advice anyone may have. StarCraft BroodWar crashes my PC. I replaced almost all the hardware to isolate the problem (see the specs below) and did two clean installations of WinXP PRO (Retail) and updated eveything from the MS Windows Update site. The machine crashes when I am "online and offline" playing StarCraft. It only crashes when I play StarCraft. My internet connection is good as I checked with my ISP and neighbors who use the same ISP. Part of my the error messages I am getting is USBPORT.SYS (see below). The only USB devices I have are the modem and the optical mouse. I removed the mouse and still have crashes. I defrag regularly with Diskeeper. Blue Screen reads: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL USBPORT.SYS ADDRESS F96CF24A BASE AT F96C8000 DATE STAMP 3B7d68b C:WINDOWSMinidump/Mini052502-1.dmp C:DOCUME~1MSNwarLOCALS-1TempWER1.tmp.dir001sysdata.xml Dumping physical memory to disk ... My Specs are: PII-450 on an ASUS P2B 440BX Year 1999 (used heavily by me) 256 MB SD-RAM (NEW) IBM 60 G 7200 Hard drive (NEW) External USB Modem: Telekom Eumex 504PC USB Gainward 64 MB Video Card (NEW) I was running a USB Mouse but removed it and replaced it with a PS/2 Mouse thinking I had a USB problem, but the machine still crashes. 4. I agree with FthrJack. When new visitors find that MSFN Members are owners, creators, admins, etc. of sites outside MSFN it lends a certain amount of credibility to MSFN. A win-win board links to outside interests posted by members of good standing. Makes a nice community. Ever consider a Board Ring (Web Ring) thingy? 6. and fix this puter. Now that you are on the road you may as well stop by and fix my PC. Beers are in the box - help yourself. Not before you fix my puter though, he. And pick up some steaks (your treat) before you get here. If I am not at home when you come by you will find the key under the mat. Bar-B-Q grill is in the back yard and I like my steaks well done. The wife is parked in front of the TV most of the time and I like her well done too, he. WARNING - She is a ManEaterFromHellThatKnowsOnlyOneSpeedGoGoGo. 11. Got it up and working. Slowww. 5964 Kb mp3 @ less than 1 Kb sec. I edited the host file and still get the KaZaA screen though. speed is up to 1.0 Kbs now. Thanks Conan, MSNwar - The FatMan
  12. I am having problems with it: 1. After running it for a few minutes my keyboard and mouse locked up. I had to restart my PC using the reboot button on the tower. 2. I don't have a Host folder so I downloaded it. Now what do I do with it? Properties describes the file as "file". I don't understand it. Edit: I found the original host file, duh. I thought etc was literaly etc. MSNwar - The FatMan
  13. BIOS Virus or Boot Sector Virus. Virus may be like the CIH and stealth into system RAM. First. Flash the BIOS. Second. Boot to a: drive with a clean system disk. Run McAafee (free download) or other anti-virus disk that scans the Master Boot Record of the hard drives. Third and last resort. If it is a CIH type virus it is a stealth virus and can hide code in RAM. Hard Boot to a: drive, swap system diskette with McAafee diskette, Pull RAM, run McAafee. May also be a Java Virus Exploit. Theres a WinXP Hot Fix Update availabe for this. MSNwar - The FatMan
  14. The File Syntex looks corrupted to me. Between /desktop and Documents and Settings I see a small square.

  16. Gonna miss you. (Like a sore d-eye-ck). Hope you miss me. (Aim that truck somewhere else). Are you hauling legal or illegal stuff? Border crossing? Good luck Chris. Thanks for all the help you gave me. MSNwar - The FatMan PS Don't forget the "Bumper Dumper"
  17. Some older CD-ROM drives cables may not work with newer hard drive connectors. Just look at the number of pins and match them for the correct configuration. Since the hard drive will be used as a backup drive I would buy a cheap bay drawer. If security is an issue get one with a lock. The advantage is you can remove the hard drive whenever you want to and store it if needed. If the hard drive is hot swappable you can also swap other hot swappable devices like the CD-ROM, Zip, etc. External cases are available for hard drives but you need to match the hard drive to the case's configuration. 18. I don't know for sure cause I never tried it that way. Your setup is more sophisticated than mine. I dial into my server using WS FTP 95 PRO. Others also use my user name and password or I change it online through my ISP. I did have a problem with a firewall enabled at one time. Disabled the firewall temporarily to update the site and it worked. MSNwar - The FatMan
  19. Hope this helps. Installing MouseWare version 9.3x or earlier into Windows XP is NOT supported. MouseWare version 9.4x or higher are the only versions supported under Windows XP. Note: this update is NOT for iFeel Mouse users. Installing this release over the version of MouseWare that shipped with your iFeel mouse will cause problems with the iFeel functionality. Therefore, this release is NOT recommended if you are using an iFeel mouse. Logitech Mouse Driver Update 9.42.1 Patch applies to: Any Logitech pointing device (English) except iFeel. Requirements: Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP Logitech pointing device (mouse) http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/logimouse.html

  21. I use M$ Office XP with FrontPage 2002. Before that I used M$ Office 2000 with FrontPage 2000. As XxMaNsOnX said, the collaboration features are very handy when communicating, transfering docs and presentations, with other office users. I like to keep all my M$ software on an even keel so to speak. The newest OS, newest Office, etc. Seems that the total Windows software environmet runs smoother with less add-ons and patches that way. I would not spend the money for my home system. Office 2000 at home is good enough for me. MSNwar - The FatMan
  22. NikNT, You have been installing and re-installing WinXP a lot? Here is a cool tip that we at MSFN do religiously. Try Norton Ghost! You make a image of the hard drive when you have everything the way you want it, even a fresh install of XP, and when things go bleak, simply restore the hard drive. Some users prefer Drive Image from PowerQuest. Either way, it saves you a lot of time. I tweak my system often, as others here do, and it is a real pain to have to re-tweek everything. 23. NikNT, the P4 2A is one of two 2.0 GHz CPUs made by Intel. There are two types of P4 2.0 GHz CPUs made by Intel. They both run at differen't voltages and this is where people (even techs) get confused. Additionally, there are higher rated CPUs in this line. The P4 2A runs at a Core/Max. Voltage 1.50. The P4 2.0 runs at Core/Max. Voltage 1.75 This is an important factor when purchasing a new motherboard and CPU combination. 24. NikNT. Thanks for the suggestion. I do have the latest drivers for the video card installed. All of the hardware have the latest drivers by the way. Over the years the Voodoo 3 has been a problem free card for my system. As I mentioned in the original thread, XP Pro was installed back in December 2001. I am more inclined to think it is software oriented? Thanks NikNT, MSNwar - The FatMan
  25. My specs are: PII 450 with fan ASUS P2B Board 256 MB RAM 2 Hard drives (both 50% full) 3.5 floppy drive CD writer CD-ROM drive Voodoo 3 16MB Video Card ASUS Board The systems has been running fine for years now. This is the first problem I have ever had running XP Pro since I installed it in December 2001. I forgot to mention earlier that the machine started to lock-up for the first time in years. I was connected to battle.net last night for the first time. Thanks MSNwar - The FatMan
