Correct if I am wrong, but I believe it was the first board to support 3G or was it Gigabyte?

Primal, I used to review hardware for GameIt.de(presently out-of-business) and it is a very difficult thing to do. First, you must own all the test equipment and various hardware such as CPUs, RAM, etc. The idea is to reflect an unbiased image by owing nothing to no one company or sunsidary. Then you need at least 1,000 visitors per month for some of the manufacturers to take you seriously. There are lots of things involved that take a lot of your time. Like meeting deadlines! Miss one deadline and you are pretty much history. Oh, and some hardware may damage your test equipment at your expense. I learned the hard way. LongHorn, what forums do you run?

LongHorn, Good choice. I really like that board. We did a review on it this past October.

LongHorn, motherboard?

Come up with something that scopes Babes and I will give it a go.

The answer lies with the firewall. Some firewalls have a text log of all traffic "in and out" with the information you seek. Click the Help section of your firewall or reference the documentation that accompanied the software for details. Here are two sites dedicated to the beginner as well as the advanced firewall users: http://www.staysafeonline.info http://www.happyhacker.org

That happened to my wife when she ordered a watch for me. She ordered the wrong model. We ended up emailing a letter to customer service and cc to the President of the company. The President's rep called us and made the exchange happen. Try calling or emailing the President and see what happens. A different angle. Tell them you were going to do a review of the watch you really wanted on the web site and need to straighten it all out before the review date? Companies get off on that sort of thing!

Welcome to the board LongHorn. Just dont ask anything serious Tris, will you do me a big favor please? Make me a sig using your imagination. Something that characterizes me in regard to what you know about me? I would very much appreciate it.Many thanks.

Chip set designs are getting better all the time. It is a very exciting time. Sets that support FSB 533 and 3G transfer rates are very fast. Couple that with Dual CPU systems and even CAD intensive programs run very well. Having just built a Dual CPU system I can see first hand the difference between single CPU systems with fast chip sets. There is a very noticeable difference. I wish I had the ATA Serial drives zipp51 is talking about. Maybe Christmas?

Yes. Good move. I got so darn tired of loosing because of that. Took me about two minutes to figure it out. Why did it take them so long to do something about it. My record sucks.

ChrisPS, there is one other reason why the product activation worked for Microsoft. Mandatory! Otherwise, the product just stopped working. I can't help but think that if someone just bought WinXP for $100 plus that they would balk at the product activation and toss the product. Bottom line is $100 plus. Keyword is Mandatory. The majority of computer users I know are fairly intelligent people. Why would they have any interest in a computer if they were not at least fairly intelligent. When I installed Win 3.1 for the first time I read the license agreement. Same week I discussed it with people who had been using Win.311. They all knew the license agreement and pretty much junked the idea all together. Never the less they understood it even if they did not practice it. Come to think about it my first Windows OS was a copy. Same month I bought a retail edition and have been paying retail since then. Thats just me. Yes, XP sales are high. Does XP really out-sale W2K? You are well studied. What do you do for a living if you don't mind me asking? Is you interest in Windows a profession or a personal hobby? Welcome to MSFN by the way.

So here comes the new guy. He wants Windows. Someone tells him he has to have a passport. He may also want to learn a little about privacy on the internet just in case something bad happens. Oh, maybe I need that software rent thingy from M$. Yep, still need a passport. Ok. Emm, OS and software rental, and ISP, that will be $150.00 up front and $25.00 a month for the rest of your life. Huh? Yo, Barney, how bout Linux, its free! No passport, No rental crap, and it FREE. Did I mention its FREE

LOL, I hardly type a response. Er, any pics?

Cool, that was worth a look Suggestion to the buyer. Fly it home and try to stay out of The Pentagon's Air space w00t

From what I have seen here at MSFN there are at least two types of Windows XP users. One is the advanced PC builder that prefers to build their own PC and install the Retail Edition. The second type is the OEM user that prefers to buy an OEM PC with Windows XP OEM pre-installed. Product activation is mandatory for both the Retail Edition and the pre-installed OEM Edition. The original product activation is quite simple as long as the user has a internet connection or telephone to complete the process. The advanced user often upgrades the PC to the point that a new product activation is mandatory. The OEM user seldom changes the hardware configuration to the point that mandates a new product activation. Again, the product activation process is still quite simple if not a pain in the arse for both users. Once product activation is complete therein begins the learning process, experimenting cycle, migration to tweaking the system for optimal performance, and the eye candy evolution. This is where MSFN advanced users are of the most help to the majority of advanced users as well as OEM users. We have traveled the roads of hardware upgrades, maybe built a few machines, and experimented with various software. Eventually there comes a time when all users feel their Windows XP PC is setup just the way they like it and feel comfortable with the performance. Later, some seem to want to concentrate on a different look. FthrJack's comment about customized features, themes, and the digital signature indicates an advanced user that has "morphed" (he he) to a higher level of XPerience. A user than has been there, done that, and has the t-shirt. So we are left with Whats Next? We pass it on. Thats Whats Next! Thats MSFN. I applaud MSFN.
