  3. RIAA comes to mind. Probably, the Mariana Trench off of Guam. It is the lowest point of the earth. There are no internet cables there and thats a good thing. w00t
  4. amazon.co.uk is having a after Christmas sale "January Sale" on various products: Up to 60% off bestselling software Software Sale Home Computing and Office Software Education and Reference Up to 50% off PC and Video Games: PC Games PS2 Games
  5. I think most people that have problems with XP are just not experienced computer users. "Operator Error" is one of my favorite terms for inexperineced computer users. How many times have you ran across someone that asked "NTFS, what is that?", or one of my favorites "How do you defrag the hard drive?" And these questions come from people that have been using the machine for 6 months or more! Once in a while I look at the machine as a favor and find failed software installations, a hard drive that had upgrades from Win3.1 > Win95 > WinME etc. and not one single clean installation. I have seen people try to eject the floppy disk when the green light is on, try to defrag the hard drive with applications running and so much more. Really, what do most people use the inet for these days? My son is a good example bless his heart. He comes home from school and starts the PC. Starts a MP3 download. Does his homework while WinAmp is playing something. After homework and dinner he burns his MP3s, stuffs the disk in his backpack, kisses Mom good night, hits Dad up for a few bucks for a few blank CD-Rs, and goes to bed. I ask him "Did you defrag this month?" Yea Dad, I'll get to it. Love that kid
  6. Never built a customer an Intel PC! Thats something. Matter of fact, I have only been putting togather Athlon systems of late. The price difference between the CPUs catches the eye I guess. Did anyone see malabs.com yet? They have a nice sell on cases this month. I haven\t received the January price list yet. Looking forward to some after Christmas deals.
  7. Zipp51, no sir, as ar as custom labels. AMD gave me some one time and I gave them away to customers. Some resellers use color laser printers and adhesive labels to save cost. Where I work, all the Intel labels were removed from the PCs by someone.

  9. Owed to the popularity of the Tolkien I thought this might be of interest. Michael Drout, an US academic, discovered a yellowing manuscript written by J.R.R. Tolkien, who wrote books like 'Lord of the Rings' in an Oxford Library. It could become one of the publishing sensations of 2003. The 2000 pages, that are handwritten, include Tolkien's translations of 'Beowulf', an English poem from the 8th century A.D. that gave him the inspiration to write 'Lord of the Rings'. Elves, orcs and ents are mentioned in 'Beowulf'. The new book will be published next summer. With Tolkien's name on the cover, it is likely to become a bestseller. Source: news.com.au
  10. FthrJack, yes I am interested. Please send me the info. I have a question for you. Do the majority of your clients prefer white? Two out of three of my customers prefer white. It looks like I will be rolling out at least six PCs in February. Later tonight ( if I dont get side tracked) I will be posting details.
  11. Not sure Alec because I do not use them but wait around and see what others post. I am moving this thread to the software hangout where you will receive more exposure and defining the topic so it is a little clearer, okay. This section is more about networking computers and your subject is more software related. Welcome to MSFN Alec
  12. Looking for parts used to be one of my most time consuming activities. After establishing a good working relationship with salesmen and other low volume resellers the time was seriously cut down. Salesmen will keep you advised of good deals and other resellers will do the same. Most of the time I receive notice through email. The trick is to find salesmen who were small-time system builders before they became salesmen. They understand low volume system builder practices.
  13. I will endevor to be the best husband and father I can be. - Finish that slice of pizza that fell behind the computer desk last month. - Stop opening beer bottles with my son-in-laws teeth. - Start being nicer to short people. - Pay off my bar tab.
  14. Zipp, I have had no complaints about that mobo either. They fit the cases perfectly because the sme salesman was pushing them and he threw in one extra of each. They also gave me some cheap case fans with cables. I paid $40.00 per board that included extra IDE cables, artic silver packs, and ECS case stickers that would not stick good on the cases, lol. No complaints or returns.
  15. http://www.msnwar.com/Private_Sales/oem_index.htm I am not selling anything here okay! These are the PCs I sold in December. Most of the sales were to previous clients that just wanted a second PC or just wanted to upgrade without spending a whole lot of money. I did not offer a great case for those reasons. Like I said "I am not selling anything here." SOLD OUT
  16. Cool. I am looking forward to this and will check if Sky is going to air it on Sci-Fi channel. FthrJack, I heard that "you" are behind all this alien stuff. w00t
  17. No image to see. I edited it. BTW, it was not all that bad and deserves no furthur action, IMHO. Left the post partially intact so InTrIgue gets the message. The image host looks like a good idea.
  18. It is nice seeing The Rev and the Old Gang to include a few New Members from Techzonez. Don't be strangers okay. There is always a place at our table for all of you. Hey, wheres my wallet ???
  19. Rev. Sorry to hear that. Hope it all gets sorted out in your best interest. This is all a bit over my head really. Am I to understand that your host was flooded with a gigantic series of DDOS attacks in such magnitude that it was like a #10 earthquake and originated at universities in the U.S. which were actually used by an undisclosed party as a stepping stone to get to your domain? This is like those national news stories we read from time to time isn't it? This must have been a coordinated attack to actually consume that much bandwidth. Sign me flabbergasted.
  20. FthrJack, how is that you can see that with messenger? Interesting subject really.
  21. I have ran Win98, Win98SE, WinME, Win2K, and today WinXP on a P2 450 without any problems at all. Daily activities include multi-tasking FrontPage, Word, and Excel. The only game I play a few times a week is StarCraft online. All that with a 16 MB Voodoo Card and 256 MB SD-RAM. Two words, Pentium Two.
  22. Maybe there is a ghost in the third PC. Run a trojan cleaner. Maybe the server is trying to locate the third PC on the network and cannot find it. Welcome to MSFN
  23. win98se? why not give him a copy of win2k or xp, he'll stop bothering you then Yea, and teach him how to do a restore.
