  1. Welcome to the MSFN Community GoNzO. How did you find us?
  2. Now that is totally cool.
  3. If they have not blocked google or AOL > google you can get around it that way. First, go to google, type in a keyword like "mail" and do the search, then use the extended search feature by adding "hotmail". Hope it works.
  4. Click the link "My 3D Mark Score" in Doggie's signature for his specs. Doggie, fill it up I always say.
  5. Actually this story comes from the Herald Sun which is a cheap paper. Similar to the National Enquirer in the U.S. Have to consider the source.
  6. If those are your personal beds you might want to ask yourself where your Dad will have you sleeping in the future gamehead. Just kidding.
  7. http://www.happyhacker.org/ Good start.
  8. gamehead, post your eBay links here, so we can see okay, maybe something good will happen

  10. Got a link to the compare Doggie? I'll update the list for you.
  11. Hope it gets fixed but if not let us know. Thanks for the comment.
  12. Wow, how to reply? I thank you all kindly, Jeff
  13. I agree. To bad this cannot be varified.

    Help Needed,

ASUS and Gigabyte make good boards. TomsHardware does a lot of reviews and you will definately get the scoop on boards.
  15. He needs to do a fresh install for starters like Drew said. And needs to fix that SB Audigy. We messged each other about posting in the correct sections.
  16. Normally that means there are two or more programs trying to access explorer.exe at the same time and Win2000 shuts down explorer.exe when that happens. Or a viri has attached itself to explorer.exe But if you ran Norton and there was no viri then thats probally not the reason. I forgot the size of explorer.exe for Win2000 but if you right-click it and read the properties for the size you can then do a google search and do a compare.
  17. gamehead, aren't you to young to have a credit card for a paypal account? I am not being personal but I thought everyone had to have a credit card to have a PayPal account. Is it different in Canada?
  18. Moved. BTW, the problem is not the computer. It is the operator. If a person posts a question about speeding-up his/her PC on a Technology Board in the General Discussion Section when there are other sections specificaly for hardware/software discussions then it is obvious that this is a operator problem. And if you were home right now we could be playing StarCraft !!! Call Me. w00t :flowers:
  19. Actually, we have known each other for years and have shared a good friendship. We argue all the time. I have always felt that if you cannot get mad at each other and remain friends then there was never a true friendship in the first place. This DOES NOT mean we will start taking showers together you know. Thanks Grunt
  20. I can see it now. XPerties will be running amuck and sticking those decals on his neighbors cars. Hey, lets all get together and do the Super Bowl parking lot next year?

    Help Needed,

I want to know more about that RAM. Both sticks were tried seperately in Slot 1 right? Is there any debri in the RAM banks? Just a thought. Sounds like FthrJack is spot on about the board. Hell, if FthrJack cannot fix it then none of us can really.

    Help Needed,

I concur with XPerties that this is a hardware problem. What are the system specs? Motherboard manufacturer, CPU? Maybe I missed this info, but I do not see the full system specs. Did you actually try just one stick of RAM at a time? One of the two sticks could be defective. I know you took one out, but did you take both out and try both in RAM slot No. 1 (one at a time)? Are the RAM the same specs? The tech is correct about most BSOD with those error codes being memory related. I would rule out the virtual memory since you reinstalled Windows more than once. Are you doing a clean installation each time or something else? WinXP will shut itself down or error with the BSOD if a program will cause a critical error! Like FthrJack said, you have replaced everything, so maybe it is the motherboard. Your CPU fan is running correctly? The heatsink for the CPU is okay? Maybe the CPU is getting hot because the heatsink is installed wrong? Look closely at both the CPU fan and heatsink alignment.
  23. We gave this a go last night and it still will not work. Here is a little history and course of events: 1) It installed and ran okay on the first installation. 2) The next time he tried to play the game it would not start. There were no new hardware or software changes. 3) He took out a video card and replaced it with a Gainward GeForce 4 64MB 440 MMX. The game would not work. 4) He uninstalled and reinstalled the game but it would not work. 5) He replaced the sound card with a SB Audigy. FthrJack provided this information from another thread, Bf 1942 1.3 Patch, *** IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SOUNDBLASTER AUDIGY OWNERS *** There are known issues with Audigy cards and this patch. These problems can be avoided by enabling HARDWARE ACCELERATION in the sound options menu. He installed the patch and enabled hardware acceleration but it still does not work. 6) We tried the VideoDefault.con fix that HAL10000 suggested. That path does not exist in his setup. His path is C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Settings\VideoDefault.con We edited it and did not find renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0 so we added it and changed the value to 1. Still would not work. Okay, I suggested he do a clean install of Windows, and get all the new hardware running at the default settings. Then install BF1942. Then install the patches and see what happens. I dont know.
  24. LOL and it is true
