  13. In the start menu just right-click the icon/program and select "remove from this list". It will remove the shortcut but will not remove the program. To clear the whole menu, right-click the taskbar, select properties, select Start Menu, select customize, and select "Clear List". Same with hiding inactive icons.

  18. ShieldsUP! The Internet's quickest, most popular, reliable and trusted, free Internet security checkup and information service. Easily check your system here, and begin learning about using the Internet safely. My results ... Your Internet port 139 does not appear to exist! One or more ports on this system are operating in FULL STEALTH MODE! Standard Internet behavior requires port connection attempts to be answered with a success or refusal response. Therefore, only an attempt to connect to a nonexistent computer results in no response of either kind. But YOUR computer has DELIBERATELY CHOSEN NOT TO RESPOND (that's very cool!) which represents advanced computer and port stealthing capabilities. A machine configured in this fashion is well hardened to Internet NetBIOS attack and intrusion. Unable to connect with NetBIOS to your computer. All attempts to get any information from your computer have FAILED. (This is very uncommon for a Windows networking-based PC.) Relative to vulnerabilities from Windows networking, this computer appears to be VERY SECURE since it is NOT exposing ANY of its internal NetBIOS networking protocol over the Internet. Can you pass this test? Scroll about hald-way down the page and Click "Test My Shields": Shields Up. Click Here

  23. XP will reboot itself when system resources are over taxed. You may or may not see the BSOD because this is part of the process. Normally, XP will save files if possible, but do not count on it. This is one of the best features of XP that is not commonly known since XP is a very stable operating system. You can monitor your system resources through the task manager and learn just how far you can push it before it performs the process. Without getting into a long story, be conservative with open applications and internet access.
  24. Now that W2K3 is out of beta that makes this thread redundant. I am thinking about "Un-Pining" it unless MSFN members would like to keep it here a little longer. I could trim the fat out of it and leave the questions and answers for future reference for anyone that is still using the beta. Some of you took the time and effort to assist others when necessary and I appreciate it. Your thoughts and suggestions would be much appreciated.
  25. LOL, Tiggers live in tents @ MSFN. She found a home (country girl speak me thinks)
