  1. I have this problem occasionally. When I create a new folder, rename it and try to open it, Explorer will say "cannot find New Folder." But certainly, it is not called New Folder anymore. If I try opening it again, it works. I would be interested in a fix also.
  2. Normally, Windows 7 32bit does not have the ability to boot in EFI mode. What method did you use to get that to work?
  3. Green Tea Kit Kat is from Japan I believe.
  4. Welcome to the MSFN!
  5. Another place that can launch startup programs is from Task Scheduler.
  6. What is RS1? Anniversary Update comes out on August 2 and the free upgrade period ends July 29. We will have to wait to see if some update comes out July 30 to remove the GWX stuff... but I suspect that instead there will be changes made where you could pay for Windows 10 right there.
  7. Yes in English, 大阪市 is Osaka City. It is typed as Osaka. Oshaka exists in Japanese (おしゃか) but I do not know what it means. The Japanese pronunciation is different too.
  8. That graphic may only be correct for a few days, if it is still the same as previous. People who had upgraded to 10240 prior to 10586 being released, who then were updated to 10586, found that the "go back to your previous OS" feature was either missing or would put them back to 10240. If there is a new Win10 update coming on August 2, a similar scenario could happen again.
  9. DX12 will be what will eventually get me into running Windows 10, but I probably would use Steam as the shell instead of explorer.
  10. Use (at least) the WinPE from the ADK for Windows 8 (not the RC version). The WAIK for Windows 7 WinPE does not work well enough in EFI mode. I had to abandon it entirely. WinPE3 x64 worked on the first generation of UEFI 2.3.1 boards (Intel 67/77 era) well enough, newer boards saw issues like this.
  11. Probably none of those. Disable the service and see what happens.
  12. Wanting to go back and actually doing it is two different things.
  13. Is there a specific reason that you want to use Excel to do this?
  14. The only thing I still use imagex for (besides legacy deployments that I haven't converted yet) is for /info and for /export to new .wim file. MS did say that with the release of ADK for Windows 8 Preview that imagex was deprecated, yet still kept releasing new versions even up until now. I think that DISM doesn't return the XML like imagex /info does yet.
  15. Corporate social media accounts have been becoming "cutesy" and less business-like to better relate to their users. As most people who are using social media are not so serious.
  16. Perhaps look in your PE to see if anything gets put into the DISM.log file. I have not used that old version of DISM in some time, am using DISM from ADK for Windows 10. You could say "one DISM to rule them all"
  17. @dco47 We have a policy of not directly linking to places offering for download things that are not explicitly allowed to be redistributed. If you know of a way or a tool that can get this from a Microsoft hosted website, you can post it here instead.
  18. I have not seen this issue. What version is the imagex.exe? Have you tried using DISM instead? What is the file size of the WIM, and what compression method was used at capture? What type of media is the destination?
  19. Look in the link that was posted for command extensions.
  20. That's the billion dollar question!
  21. This is also a problem on WES7e/p (Windows Embedded Standard) builds. Typically, clients wanting a custom Embedded image do not want updates to be installed, or for Windows Update to be disabled. The past week I've been working on two new WES7 builds to include updates and they both took on average 3-4 hours to complete the check. I had set WU to disabled and then just did Check for Updates, because there is no point in having it do the download since the updates are not added directly to the client.
  22. The only thing that people end up resorting to is public shaming, but most websites do allow some contact with an author. I've sent emails or Twitter messages in the past to inform article authors of corrections needed for articles. You could say that the readers shouldn't be responsible for that and you wouldn't be wrong.
  23. Changed the topic title.
  24. No one in their right mind should be paying for access to a news website. They do not have enough exclusive content to offer such a service and you can find those news stories for free on other websites.
