  1. I forget about that option sometimes, because my XP at home doesn't have SP2 (SP1?) so I don't have that option.
  2. Yes, check out rule 1a of the Forum Rules. Link to those rules in my sig or you can find it at the top of any page on the forum.
  3. This type of post should be in Site and Forum Issues.
  4. I now have a fully working recovery partition. I added the MBR commands into the actions of the PE, and fixed the reimaging issue. Made some typos, such as confusing the X with C drives. And the D with C drive. It works now but doesn't look that good. For example, it doesn't use any sort of progress bar or anything yet. I had problems scripting it to reboot after recovery, because it would reboot first. So right now the Full recovery formats the drive and reloads the image. Also, In order to be able to use the recovery partition again, you need to reboot the system manually. The MBR command to hide the recovery partition is in the reboot code. So if you hit the reset button while in the recovery partition, you wouldn't be able to get back into it. I could try putting this code in the startnet.cmd after it resets the MBR, but I am wondering if that will effect the drive before the next reboot. Projector also has a command to allow fullscreen, but I haven't tried it yet: fscommand("fullscreen", "true"); Wrex, I'll check out your idea only if my company decides not to go the route of Flash.
  5. Now that this thread is in the correct forum, I can post some of the links that I use. forums http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/index.php? http://forums.devshed.com/ http://www.mwusers.com/forums/ http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/bb291006.aspx Intel http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/...b/cs-010249.htm http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/...b/CS-029021.htm http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboard/index.htm Microsoft http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms789516.aspx http://blog.hishamrana.com/2006/02/22/how-...ost-and-sysprep http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms536496(VS.85).aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx http://blogs.msdn.com/nickmac/archive/2008...r-2008-x64.aspx http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=19397 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/bb42151...?wt.svl=leftnav http://www.theeldergeek.com/recovery_console.htm http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2068721,00.asp http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_install_acti...indows_2003.htm start with those i guess
  6. Maybe one of these will be helpful? I searched specifically for CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) so these diagrams are relevant to Cable ISPs. http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&...+map+cisco+cmts
  7. This is as much of a hardware question as a software one. I still have this last question as it concerns the config on the next PC I will build. I know I want to use Vista Business, but should I be using x86 or x64? If I can use x64 I'd want to get 8GB RAM, but if I shouldn't, I'll settle for 4GB. My main concern is that I don't know how reliable the WOW is on Vista x64. Am I going to have problems playing games? I guess this could be a gaming question too.
  8. Is the 8102 similar to the 8201 controller? We've had problems with the 8201, because we found it was a virtual or emulated device. We cannot get it to work properly in any PE environment, but haven't had any problems in regular Windows (either). These are rare controllers for us, but we usually have to set up those machines using another NIC. I know you can't really do that with a notebook tho.
  9. I had previously used the Text to Speech UDF available on Autoit forums in a QC application. It does work but were some bugs iirc.
  10. You can do this with DISKPART. Also your recovery partition may have used custom MBR information, so its is possible you won't be able to unhide it very easily.
  11. I think it does. Can I use my VHD from VPC 2007 with VirtualBox or do I have to start all over again?
  12. Did you look under Add/Remove Windows Components? I am not familiar with desktop search.
  13. I am wondering if using the UNC path adds additional SMB traffic with the data. You can also to a file copy from a command prompt using xcopy to see if you get a faster speed.

  15. I am wondering why your Win PE is so large. Mine is under 200MB. Mine has some custom HTA stuff, a Burn program and only NIC and Intel RAID drivers installed. What else are you putting in yours to make it so big? Are you putting a WIM inside your PE WIM? Also, let me add that with my small PE, it still won't run on anything smaller than 512MB RAM. You might be running into a memory situation there.
  16. You could make a copy of cmd.exe and rename it something else. That way your two batch files will use different process names. EDIT: actually, you may wish to script your batch files with another program, such as AUTOIT or KIXSTART which will not use CMD.EXE as their process.
  17. You have a few options really. 1. You could use a different program to give the display effects you want. An example is one of the products of Object Desktop. Otherwise you could use a separate EXE or DLL and change your icons manually. 2. You could deny write access (NTFS permissions) to shell32.dll by the SYSTEM account, but be warned that you may experience other errors or BSODs because of this.
  18. I am worried about the Drive Letter Access BHO. You need to verify that everything is normal when connecting physically via ethernet. HTJ logs aren't much to me anymore.
  19. I may have had something related. Firstly, because the network I am on is still mostly XP Pro clients, I use Group Policy to disable the Link-Layer Topology Mapping on the Vista Clients and also on the server. In addition, I had disabled a GPO on the Local Policy for the server which can be viewed here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=122871 This may help you. For me, it represented an upload (to the server) cap that I had to overcome.
  20. It is good you got help from us. Make sure you don't desert us!
  21. I'm not the kinda guy who gives up things for lent, but this made me laugh. I was at the drug store today and a woman was ahead of me in the line to checkout. Her husband was not in line but seemed to be looking for impulse buys. He says: "They have a sale on Butterfingers, want me to get you some?" and the woman's response was "No, remember, I gave up those for lent." o_O
  22. It is easy to find some free samples. Try this place seems legit. http://www.mcmcse.com/comptia/network/networkplus.shtml
  23. Other websites say that there is a log file you can read for more info. https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/li...re-ftpd-148309/
  24. I searched! And yes I am bringing this thread back. Meat Beat Manifesto - Prime Audio Soup
  25. I have Virtual PC running on a Server 2003 Standard x32, and the OS in the session is Windows XP Pro SP2. The video card in the computer is nVidia GeForce 4 MX 4000, but in the VM it shows up as VM Additions S3 Trio 32/64. If I run DXDIAG it says it supports DirectDraw but not Direct3D. It comes down to this, it can run some games such as Midtown Madness Demo, Motorcross Madness demo, but it can't run Carmageddon 2 demo. Is there any drivers available or a way to get Direct 3D to work in this situation?
