  1. Many things have changed between XP and Windows 7, especially how profiles are used.
  2. USB on Windows 7 can be flakey at times. I have some devices that won't work on certain ports. Are you using the Safe Remove Hardware function prior to unplugging the device?

  5. Tripredacus is definately a Transformer but is also a faction. Tripredacus (Tripledacus in Japan) is a combination of 3 robots, each with their own personality: Cicadacon, Seaclamp and Ramhorn. Originally I picked the name after trying to register a domain name and trying 200 other Transformers name unsuccessfully through (then) Tucows. Tripredacus worked and I picked that, and then took up that name and things went on from there. K-Mart-ian Legend is a joke and a joke that I did not even come up with. Quite a few years ago, someone had defaced the Gobots page on Wikipedia, relabling instances of the term "Gobots" to "K-Mart Transformers" playing on the idea that they were an inferior product to Transformers. Another term found on the defaced page was that the "Gobots are the Transformers of K-Mart-ian Legend." I had reported this deface to someone else at the time who got it reverted, prior to me having an account on TOW or knowing how to use that site. You can see it in the revision history of the Gobots page (2006) or this history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K-Mart_Transformers After this, I was jokingly referred to as the K-Mart-ian Legend, so I ended up using that title everywhere. The character in my avatar is a Transformer, but it is not Tripredacus. The reason for this is that the Tripredacus gestalt didn't really have any good art representations until fairly recently. I didn't want to use one of the individual members since I related to the combination of personalities of the character rather than just one part of it. Here is a picture of what the Tripredacus gestalt character looks like. The character in my avatar is actually Ravage, who was one of the cassette characters that accompanied Soundwave. When Tripredacus made its first (non-combined) appearance in the Beast Wars "cartoon" series, Ravage was an agent of that organization. You can use that image on another forum, I have no problem with that.
  6. There shouldn't any situation where your PC would boot a USB partly then failover to the HDD. Unless you aren't describing it properly. I've worked on an HP Mini so I know it doesn't have a ODD in it. Are you using a USB key to boot your PE or using a USB CD drive? If using a USB key, you may run into volume size limits based on what file system your PE is built. Try using a 1-2GB (max) size USB key if possible. If you have a USB CD drive, I'd try to boot up memtest in it.
  7. What is the model for this notebook?
  8. Look at your picture again... To me it would seem that the path would be .\Deploy\$OEM$\Operating Systems\Windows 7 x86\Sources\install.wim.
  9. Well the 0x7B is related to the Mass Storage driver not being present. So you say that it works if you use an image that just has the Mass Storage drivers, but stops if you add sound and video?
  10. You should be talking to your domain admins/helpdesk for this question! We have no idea what kinds of software or GPOs you could possibly have.
  11. You only have to worry about a non-standard MBR if your PC is configured with dual boot. If your other partition is just a data partition, you shouldn't worry. The only exception is if there is a recovery/service partition which would technically make the system be a dual-boot anyways. Swapping drive cables is a simple enough fix to try. I've seen that happen as well, and especially for SATA cables that do not have clips or the soft orange ones.
  12. I never researched it myself, but I have a server that has this problem. It doesn't have Symantec anything on it. There seems to be a few different attempts or solutions for this, try these out: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprogeneral/thread/5ec0b949-effa-4e30-ba09-dc948a4c7a8b

  14. You'll need to find out what drive letter the CD drive has. You can hard code a drive letter into your code like that ONLY when you can be relatively certain that it will be correct every time. You can get a cmd at that screen with Shift+F10. Then you can find out what your CD drive is, and what is D: and/or if a D:\install.wim actually exists.
  15. See from above code post: <Path>.\Operating Systems\Windows 7 x86\Sources\install.wim</Path> So this is a relative path, relative to where Setup.exe (or the LTI app) is located. Does this path exist in the ISO?
  16. I was thinking of a different angle for Win8 yesterday. I was at a family gathering and we talked about tablets in the Enterprise. Almost no companies are allowing them into the corporate network, but that could actually change with Windows 8. The only exception would be WOA, which I heard can't be used to join a domain. But again that's just tablets, where I think Win8 would be just fine.
  17. If there was, you're probably going to have to find out what the original SIDs for those users are, and what they are now.
  18. I think the best representation of this type of image is to reference the end credits song from the Lamb Chop Play Along show... But I warn you once you know this song, you will remember it forever! Also for background, this particular meme is called the Demotivational Tunnel. There are other examples here: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/demotivational-tunnel/photos
  19. Look at IcemanND's guide. It tells you how to use startnet.cmd to handle this. Its pinned in this forum and he also posted a link to it in your other thread.
  20. I can't remember exactly if I have booted a WinPE on an Axp but I must have. I would wager that it isn't so much a problem with the CPU but with how the board works. If you are using an ATAPI or SATA ODD, try using a USB one. Or try having your WinPE boot from a USB key. I rarely ever will use a CD to boot a custom WinPE, so I don't have much experience in that. To see if there is an actual problem with those boards and WinPE 3, presumably a Windows 7 RTM DVD would have the same problem, if not SP1.
  21. Ok, for some reason I was thinking that the programs having this problem were using a non Save As type method to write files.
  22. Well of course. Only certain kinds of drivers will work with just the INF file. An INF is just a set of instructions which includes copying relevant files. If you didn't have these files in that folder, then DISM would give you an error when trying to execute the INF.
  23. If you have made this WinPE disc, you should still have the boot.wim in the winpe_x86 folder that you used WAIK to create. You can mount that with DISM and add drivers. Read the WinPE .chm from the WAIK menu in the Start Menu to find DISM's servicing commands, or they can be found on TechNet as well.
  24. MDT would be the way to go for sure. If you want to impress your boss/teacher, you would tell them that a real company wouldn't do everything manually. Either way, we can point you to documentation on how to use MDT but since you are working on a school related project, we can't do the work for you.
