Went into CMD and noticed the user account was Administrator_ploc, so I went into the Users and Groups cpl and see these: Groups are hit and miss... What is the cause of this?

Oh should it be prefaced with "56k warning" like the good old days? Anyways, another comparison can be seen with the full screenshots as to how 4k resolution works on Win 7 vs 8.1. Win10 may be a bit... I also wanted to have the full Hwmonitor info available if anyone wanted to see it. Windows 8.1 test done 4k 8.1PRO64 Chrome Flash CPU 47-57c, Video 47-49c 4k 8.1PRO64 Chrome HTML5 CPU 49-79c, Video 43-47c 4k 8.1PRO64 IE11 Flash CPU 46-63c, Video 45-49c

Due to 4k image size, I am using Imgur to put up the pictures. Temperatures noted in description for each. So far only Windows 7 tested. Chrome with HTML5 is certainly the hottest of the bunch, just starting to play the video at full screen caused all fans to speed way up. Flash based 4k does not have this happen in either IE10 or Chrome. I used a plug-in from the Chrome store in order to force Youtube to show videos in Flash rather than HTML5. WARNING: Screenshots in this album at at 4k resolution... old timey "56k Warning" be advised. http://imgur.com/a/sv38a

It is certainly possible to render web-based resources in WinPE under system using either portable browsers or HTA as the System account. What is the requirement for the account to have a different name?

Efficiency is really determined in two ways: 1. This new hardware/software is much more efficient than this other one I am used to using! (this is opinion based) 2. This new hardware/software is more more efficient compared to these other hardware software combinations, measured using the scientific method and all sorts of details/complicated analyzers and gadgets! (this one is "fact" based) #1 is not feasible because I would not be able to say the thing I have that sdt has not used is more efficient than the thing sdt has and I have not used. #2 is technically possible but I am not willing to put that much effort into it. That's something those benchmarking websites are for.

Ok thanks. I will give it a shot next week when I have access to the system again. I will note that I will be using a notebook to do these tests. Specifically, this one: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/173469-uefi-installation-on-a-4k-native-display/ You did not specify what type of computer or what hardware you are using, it could be possible that I will get different results. Drivers may also play a part in seeing a difference. I do know that Windows 7 is not natively compatible with 4k resolution, which might also be a factor. Since the notebook I have is not to be used with Windows 7, I will also try Windows 8.1.

Yes it is real. Hardware manufacturers had access to them for when they put a particular system configuration/hardware/software through the Windows Logo Program. If the system, hardware or software passed the program, the manufacturer was given the labels to affix on products for sale. https://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/logo_testing.mspx?mfr=true They were made in XP, XPx64 and XP/XPx64 varieties. They are an aluminum (or some other metal) label. I have found, through searching, that there are some for sale on one website, however I am not certain if they are legit, heat removed, or if they are repros. I used these search terms and went to Google Images. designed Xp x64 badgeThere may be cases where Logo certified products in retail packaging have included the label on its own, similar to how if you buy a retail Intel CPU it comes with the CPU case badge, or AOpen products include a Powered by AOpen label.

Cannot get Cipher.exe to work in Windows 8.1 Pro
Tripredacus replied to DarkKnight's topic in Windows 8
If the computer is not part of a domain and has no active GPOs on it, I would look for possible infections. There are many viruses (and even their preventative counterparts) that can block applications from being executed. However, running the file from another place and after being renamed may work. -
I don't think it will work out for me to try this. Do you have any other examples of seeing this temperature difference that doesn't involve downloading movies?
-
One thing I can tell from a lot of these screenshots (which I suspect are coming from people testing on desktops with normal size displays) is that there is a lot of wasted or whitespace in cpls, notifications, or what not.
-
Yes, VLC being a video player... however is it playing content that is local to the system, from a disc or from a website? My questions were for replication reasons. I have 1 system here that has a 4k display and thought I might be able to see this difference.

How to avoid being "upgraded to Win 10" against your will:
Tripredacus replied to dencorso's topic in Windows 8
This site seems to have the release date. http://www.techradar.com/us/news/software/operating-systems/windows-10-release-date-price-news-and-features-1029245 -
What software are you using to measure the temperature? How exactly are you playing a 4k video?
-
Well my point was that you refer to me by my forum title rather than username. But its ok, it happens often. Good to hear you got it to work.

Windows 8.1 (X64) Single Language OEM
Tripredacus replied to jean soares's topic in Unattended Windows 8/Server 2012
I've never actually used setupcomplete.cmd myself, only FirstLogonCommands with an unattend.xml. -
Garfield is the best.

If you insist on referring to me by my title, then I'll have to start calling you Newbie! Yes, your XML does not specify that information so OOBE will ask it of you. In your XML you had attached before, I don't see any static IPs for DNS in the specialize pass. The ones I do see are in the WinPE pass. But I do see in specialize you have it set to enable DHCP on the two NICs. This is a default setting and you can remove that component.

It is how it is designed. Sysprep will make an XML file there with either the default settings, or using the settings provided in the file specified by the file in the /unattend option. As an example, if I have an image that I want to make a change to, I mount the image and edit that XML, save changes and unmount. I took a quick look at your file just now, but I will try to do some testing tomorrow to see if I can replicate.

Yes, I understand that the AIO is supposed to represent the PC, however there is a big difference between your standard desktop PC and an AIO... The ability to change/add hardware such as video, sound, capture, etc. I recall the Windows 10 presentation thing they did earlier (or maybe last year) and they went on about how Windows 10 is for gamers, yet they don't put a gamer type PC in their advertisements.
-
I recall in the past that you could change the firmware on a DVD drive for different regions, but you only had a limited amount of times you could do that. Unless there is a way to make your drive region free... I once considered having two drives, one for each region I wanted to use, but I never got around to it.

I think I'll need an updated XML. The one I have is the original one with the errors. Can you attach (or you can PM if you want) the file that Setup is using? It says it is located here: C:\windows\Panther\unattend.xml If you attach for public (or PM), change the ProductKey to xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx. Another thing, regarding the original XML... it has windowsPE pass in it. This is not used by sysprep or during first boot after deployment, so it can be removed entirely.

Which integration method or software did you use? Not knowing how XP installs work exactly, it might be the case that you'd have to start over.

POSReady 2009 updates ported to Windows XP SP3 ENU
Tripredacus replied to glnz's topic in Windows XP
Reading about potentially corrupt OSes... I got to wonder. Has anyone had to do a repair install on an XP OS that was franken-POSReady-2009 yet?
