  1. I sent you the invite again - this time via PM.Maybe rediff doesn't accept mails that have a Gmail sender domain - lately I was having a similar issue. Many companies/email providers say that Gmail is spooky because of the long history times it affords (the 1 GB space), and so they don't reply to mails from a Gmail account, or even go to the extent of bouncing them. I've even seen forums at websites which won't accept "?????@gmail.com" as a valid e-mail address to sign-up! Anyway, Check your PM-box (on MSFN) for the invite. Enjoy!
  2. 1000 page? LOL, that's a tough ask for anyone. On the other hand, if you were referring to "print 1000 posts at once", then here's how to do it: 1. Click the "Print this topic" link which appears in the right-hand side of the line below the topic-title. 2. This will display the ENTIRE thread, with 1000 posts, in one page. 3. Use your browser to save this (File >> Save Page As) HTML page. Now this HTML page is on your own HD! It is useful to look-up when offline, to save and transfer to another PC, to search (use "Ctrl+F") for something in the entire thread offline, and so on. And all of these facilities are possible/useful ONLY IF THE THREAD IS CLOSED BEFORE REACHING PRINT LIMIT!
  3. Did you see this sentence by alanoll? The newer thread has more details.
  4. There's more details in the thread, by crispy here: PS 7 and CS install - silently Also, remember that the actual activation isn't yet done even after the above. You need to copy away some file in the installed folder, to restore for activation, I suppose. There's that info somewhere here, searching would help....
  5. Yes, that's the one - for your purpose, you might also need to slip-stream the italian MUI for .NET (if it exists). But since I'm not on italian windows, I don't know..
  6. Well, if you want to use it for favourites, and to store directory structure and all that, IEXPRESS can do it, but is not the best tool. Using a WinRAR archive (SFX) will be easier instead - you gain in some ways - better compression, the commands passed during EXE running are clearly readable (if you use IEXPRESS to make a switch-less installer, you can't come back later to that EXE and check on what switch the setup is run with).
  7. That's correct, but its a continuation from the win9x days. The recommended variable to be used for "%systemdrive%\WINDOWS" is
  8. correct! When you install from a slip-streamed WinXP+SP2 CD, no JVM is installed. If something asks for it, you can always download and install it - no need to install it before you need it, since it slows down the system a bit. If you have been comfortably using ALL the things that you normally do, and seen no problems (as you say), then you don't need any Java VM.
  9. @lieblingsbesuch He has slip-streamed SP2 of XP into his CD. What he wants to do, is slip-stream the SP1 (which is the latest possible) for .NET framework into his .NET 1.1 installer. @beppemito You'll find details on how to do the same for other languages by yourself, in this thread - .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack - RyanVM has described everything.
  10. You can try installing it and checking out. The most negative that could happen is that the Virtual machine might crash. Your main system would be fine. The critical system will be fine as long as you don't do anything that will impact the main system, virtual machine has no play in it!
  11. After connecting the drive, you could check if it shows up in the BIOS listing of IDE devices at all. If that first thing is fine, then you need to make partitions on that HDD before it will be visible in "My Computer".
  12. Or, you could also do this: 1. Right-click on My Computer 2. click Computer Management 3. click on the left-panel, DiskManagement 4. Remove the mounted drive-letter for drive "Y". 5. That's all. Hoping this helps...
  13. Some web-sites and programs need Java to be able to run. So, the simplest way to decide whether you need it, is to see whether the web-pages and apps that you normally run, are running fine before you install the Java VM. If you need the JVM, its recommended by MS themselves to use the version released by Sun. MS-JVM has been dis-continued.
  14. It depends on what method you use to install. If you use batch-files, then put the command as the last one (just before the EXIT) command. If you used the MSFN guide to make this, then probably the last part of start.cmd should look like this:
  15. If you gave a true e-mail address while registering with MSFN, then there's one possibility: I can email you plain-text (from the boards). You can then reply, e-mail me back the files, as an attachment (ZIPped archives), and I'll host it on some server and link here. The autorun is REALLY wonderful dude! EDIT: e-mail sent to you.
  16. Are we done with the registry tweaks thread yet? The admin of the forum has kindly raised the printable (therefore "save ENTIRE thread as 1 html page") limit to 1000 posts. The limit was 300 earlier, but now 1000 posts is a wonderful level. So let's just end this thread before it crosses 1000. Have pity on me - when I save this thread, I need to wait for a few minutes for it all to appear on screen - the saved HTML page is 1700 KB. The biggest thread ever on MSFN alright, and its in no danger of losing that record anytime soon. Now can we please have this thread closed, and a new one started? Extremely long threads are seriously a hindrance to being made use of, as all of you who have tried to search this thread for any info will know. LOCKING THIS TOPIC NOW?
  17. but am I able to access that site without using that toolbar? (update - no, on opera "www.another.geek" was an invalid site!) What am I to do if I want to go to that site from a Mac desktop or linux, or from a browser unsupported by the plugin?
  18. @rudeboy and archie check your inbox for the invites @amdmstf I need your e-mail address to send it to. Just reply back to the PM I sent you with that info, and your invite will say hello to you in the e-mail inbox address you give. Enjoy! Or, if famer has already sent you one, he'll say so, so that we don't send multiple invites to the same person. @XtremeMaC Right you are. The inbox stats show up beside the "Spam" folder - very funny indeed, needs fixing. Also, have you noticed Gmail spell-check doesn't work if you use it from Opera? It works from IE/firefox though...
  19. Put this in winnt.sif to configure options available from IEAK6, to an extent: [Branding] BrandIEUsingUnattended=Yes [URL] AutoConfig=1 Home_Page=about:blank Search_Page=http://www.google.com Help_Page=http://www.microsoft.com Quick_Link_1_Name = "Microsoft HomePage" Quick_Link_1 = http://www.microsoft.com Quick_Link_2_Name = "Search on the Internet" Quick_Link_2 = http://www.google.com Normally you can only use "file.isp" (i.e., IEAK settings) while setting up IE. But since integrating XP SP2 will eliminate the need to install IE6, we need some other way - and winnt.sif gives that - you can specify (in SetupMgr, while making your winnt.sif) the location of the IEAK-created file to configure IE with. I don't know of OE, someone else might trip along to this thread and tell you about that.
  20. Hi rotvi! Greetings to you too. Keep checking back - you will find even more information to make an even better DVD!
  21. ---edited---
  22. Huh?Maybe you forgot to post the link? And posting or e-mailing the "autorun.APZ" (source folder, from which you can edit and compile an autorun) file would be very nice....
  23. I'd suggest to let the installer do all the file registering it wants, and all the registry tasks complete. And this happens only after the second re-boot (i.e., it boots into windows after setup completes, and then you re-boot it a second time). Only after that do I normally install the drivers or updates and so on. So that's when you could install the 98se's unofficial SP. Then prolly reboot (yet again!) before doing IE6 and dX. The reason is, if you install an update too early, it might get replaced/roll-back in all the heat-and-dust that setup carries out during install, and schedules to happen at first-boot (remember the "configuring windows..." progress bar with a drum? ).
  24. It will work that way, but I doubt it will install fine from cmdlines. Running XP Plus! setup at GUIrunOnce sounds like a fail-safe option.
  25. Allow me to hazard a guess: MS's own page or this wonderful page.
