1. You can use the "/QB" switch for both setup EXEs. And maybe "PIDKEY=xxxxx" as an add-on property, for the serial key.
2. You don't need to worry about the nVidia graphics control panel. Just have the drivers (the ForceWare) in the path you use for drivers, and use "OEMPnpDrvrsPath" method (described in the msfn guide). That's to integrate the driver setup for nVidia graphics, and will automatically install the control panel as well. The best thing about the "OEMPnpDrvrsPath" is that it will install nVidia drivers&CPL only if there's an nVidia card found on the system. It takes care of everything. Hoping that helps... ATi is much more complicated, though. I don't have an ATi card, so can't comment on that one. Someone else who knows about it, and has done it, might come along to this thread, and reply.
3. @midiboy yeah, its a matter of personal choice of whether or not to merge all the nVidia chipset drivers into one folder. If you feel your paths need to be more "readable" (as you said), then do it, otherwise don't. I'm not sure whether the ISS will work fine, without a reboot - you never know until after the fact of testing. As for the "if exist" you're right on the track that's the correct way. My CMD does this: if exist %systemroot%\system32\nvaudio.nvu start %systemroot%\PnPdrvrs\nF\AudioUtl\Setup.exe Adapt it to suit the RunOnce method, and the "-s" switch for the setup. Hoping this helps...
4. Voted for XP. There's a range of reasons why XP is the best. Also, considering the main focus of this site... One reason I voted that - being with the latest, lol. EDIT: Please have a look at rules- This time, its done for you, but give topic-name more thought, for the next-time!
5. Somebody had said that putting the below in your winnt.sif file will disable the clip you're seeing, try it to see if it works... [Unattended] FactoryMode=yes
6. 1. Yes, SATA and RAID drivers (for which you use the floppy) can be integrated. See this thread for details - the driver-pack. Or you can also get nLite to integrate your SATA drivers, but that's a possibly imperfect solution. 2. If you slip-stream SP2 into Original XP CD, you will see less bugs, and also less total size. So that is the better option. Slip-streaming SP2 into an SP1 CD is not bad, but that can have more problems, and also, the resulting CD (installation files) can be larger by about 20-30 MB.
7. You have been sent an invitation at the e-mail address you mentioned in your PM to me. Enjoy!
8. @BAM The registry settings for WMP10 are pretty much the same as for WMP9. But anyways, good that you mentioned it. Updated the attachment above to have the tweak that disables first-run in WMP9/10.
9. If you really want to slip-stream, there's no current way to do this. But if what you want is for it to be installed alongside the others, in your unattended install, taking a look at this thread might help - WMP10 topic.
10. Block the pop-up sound: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\New Windows] "PlaySound"=dword:00000000That should work. As for why those above registry tweaks did not work, you need to have the .REG run from cmdlines.txt (for HKCR related things).
11. @GreenMachine Nice speech. I thank you for voicing your view-point on this. You make a valid point there, and have me agreeing. So now.... this topic won't be closed. Just a small note (the below) will conclude it. IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO USE THE PART-2 thread, instead of posting in here. Please consider this thread as locked (meaning no further posts) - but still it will stay open for those who have a really good reason to post here. That way, it is good for you to search as well as for easy knowing what's coming on. This thread exceeding 1000 posts is frightening from many members' point of view! No questions regarding any tweaks here, or any added tweaks will be noticed, since it gets difficult to post and keep-track in such a large thread. Please post only what's REALLY necessary now in this topic. R. I. P. dear part-1! OK, everybody please use the thread linked below as the registry tweaks thread now. All further discussion should take place there instead of here. The registry-tweaks, Part 2
12. Just run the command "setup.exe /?" to get a listing, and descriptions of switches. And about the msbatch.inf - just keep that file in the same folder as the setup and CABs. No need to specify location/file-name. Simply run setup from there, and it will make use of that answer file. *topic title changed *topic moved to Win9x forum
13. No, you did not break it. I suppose sven was saying that the other person did not read your gmail-offering post properly.
14. That's right. Replaced the above file with an updated and fixed version. Thanks jdoe, and do insist on correcting any other errors that might have crept into the above.
15. New nForce Platform (Mainboard) drivers are out. Makes your nVidia NFORCE-based Athlon (AthlonXP and Athlon64/FX) system run stable. This update even supports the nForce3-250 (64-bit, Gb ethernet). http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_udp_winxp_5.10 RyanVM gave this news first. So all credit to him! Thanks RyanVM.
16. A note for all people who would be downloading the above all-in-one registry tweaks file: It is meant to be cut-down by you. That is, remove whatever reg-tweaks you don't need to apply, or whatever you don't understand. Just use it as a library from where you can pick-up only as many tweaks as you need and paste into the .REG that you're using. So, if a particular tweak looks useless to you, just remove those!
17. @Mercury The quick launch bar enabling is still the same as given in that ZIP file. It has not changed with SP2. @jdoe That line is actually there for those who want to reverse the action of applying "dword:00000001" for that value. It has to manually be run. So its not a problem. But thanks for looking thru and reporting errors. Do tell here, if there's any additions you want to make. EDIT: First post updated, please read.
18. More details found in this thread, it also has more methods described. changing default wallpaper
19. No we aren't just yet - if lots of us have autoruns to be posted, then maybe a different autoruns thread could be viable (but only if you did not use the attachments feature to post scrshots). The autorun guide is almost same as what harunaksoy has above, I think. And the raw resources to compile using Autoplay Media Studio 4.0 (you'll result in the autorun scrshots he posted a few posts above) too. Thanks to him for sharing with us. Not a permanent link - get the files ASAP, if you want it. Do not give this link outside of MSFN forums. Had to host it since more people here were interested.... 1. guide 2. resources for autorun
20. The registry-tweaks, Part 2 OK, everybody please use that as the registry tweaks thread now. All further discussion should take place there instead of here. Please post only what's REALLY necessary now in this topic. This thread exceeding 1000 posts is frightening from many members' point of view!
21. You can refer to the part 1 of registry tweaks in this forum by clicking this LINK. Since this (Part-2) thread is already informative, and used by many people, it is now "Sticky"ed (to prevent multiple threads asking for registry tweaks). This thread is the sequel to the first. It contains registry tweaks that you can use during your unattended installs. For the sake of having a new beginning, an attachment is here, containing most of the registry tweaks from Part1 (made and sorted by JohnnyDo). Copy/Paste whatever tweaks you want from it into your RegTweaks.reg. It was checked by many here, and found good. DO NOT USE THE ATTACHED FILE DIRECTLY - it is ONLY FOR REFERENCE. Use only the tweaks that you really need, and can understand. It would be good for searching, if this thread had only registry tweaks that aren't already found in the ZIP file. Also, off-topic chit-chat being kept to a minimum would be nice. Please read the entire set of tweaks in this attachment, before submitting a new tweak. And use the blocks for registry code.UPDATED RECENTLY - all corrections and additions suggested in this thread (uptil the edit-date mentioned below) have been merged - re-download to get the new/corrected tweaks. 22. So does it work then? I mean, does it do its planned tasks and then ask for re-boot at the right time (at the end, after completion)? If that is so, then maybe one of the re-boot stoppers will work, I have no idea of which one will work. The first one to try is the "/Z" switch. You can use it this way - "/Q:A /R:N /Z". If that doesn't work, put "/norestart" in the place of "/Z" and try again. If that doesn't work too, do it with "/noreboot" and try. Or, maybe "REBOOT=Suppress". Don't give up. Its all trial-and-error methods which tell us things. Do post back on the one you found to be correct. About the IE download, yes that is to be expected on IE6SP2. Well, no way around it, except to download it from a Win98 machine itself.
23. I'm not sure I understand what you mean....But if you mean what I think it means, my ballot-paper in this poll is in! "I was tuned in for more than 3"
24. In the majority! Patched uxtheme.
25. yes, the downloader offers to save all the CABs for the windows versions you choose. Then take the same to a win98se machine and installing will run fine. About dX, the link was wrong, thanks for pointing it out - fixed it to link to 9.0c properly now.
