  1. You misunderstood what I meant nuhi. All the install files on the DVD like setup.exe and all the .dll files have been updated by MS. In a reverse integrated disc only the install.wim is updated. All the rest of the install files will still be original RTM. setup.exe from a MS sp1 disc (x64). ( I also have x86 sp1 and they are updated too).
  2. In a preintegrated disc from MS all the setup files are version 6.0.6001.1800. In a reverse integrated disc the setup files will be 6.0.6000.16386. Only the install.wim file is updated to sp1. preintegrated is better. the setup is a little different with a different image available to set as the background.
  3. MS has posted SP1 RC HERE enjoy!
  4. If you bothered to read his post it said he "had a Sil 3112 on my A7N8X". In his signature he lists an A8V which has the VIA 8237.
  5. Nice find. The GimageX link is dead though. Post 6 here still has download links. Thanks.
  6. I have the 378 controller on my K8V SE Deluxe. I used the XP driver when I had 32bit Vista running. It worked OK. I now use x64 and just abandoned the controller.
  7. read here Although this example modified the ntuser.dat in the install.wim it should work the same.
  8. If it's a copy of the installed Vista and since your a Linux guy how about booting a Linux live CD, wiping the first drive and copying the backup files to the first drive.
  9. Not very helpful. The driver is a Windows driver not a MB maker driver. anyway... The original Vista DVD should have the driver on it. Try extracting it from the install.wim. The problem is you need to know what driver it uses. I think it uses usbstor.inf which references usbstor.sys. Is that what you need?
  10. try -n to enable long file names source I use... oscdimg -n -m -b"%Programfiles%\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\amd64\boot\etfsboot.com" D:\Vista\Build\vista D:\Vista\Build\Vista64.iso funny but that page does not mention what the -m is for. -m = ignore maximum image size of 681,984,000 bytes
  11. read this use imagex /info... to find the image number or name use imagex /delete... to delete an image I'm not sure if export or append is best to add the image. I've only used export but have never added an image to another image. You need to have the WAIK installed.
  12. your first problem is that Bashrats driverpacks are for XP not Vista. Sure they work sometimes on Vista but they are not intended for it.
  13. The Illiminable ogg filter work perfect for me. It's better then the core flac filter. The first time you load a flac file you can't double click it. Drag/drop it to WMP11 and it will prompt you if you want to load it. Say yes. It should play fine. Right click the flac file go to settings and click open with. Chose WMP11. The only thing I don't like is the library does not recognize flac. I'll have to give madFlac a go. It's nice to see something new. The ogg filter is pretty old. :::EDIT::: madFlac did NOT work for me it gave an error installing. Back to Illiminable for me.
  14. I just wanted to inform the MSFN community that I released a new version of the popular App Launcher. It can be found on the Microsoft Gadget Gallery. HERE There are too many updates to list here so go to the gallery link and read about some of them. I would have posted it here earlier but there is a file size limit here. Updated version v3.3.1.2 is on the gallery now. I have submitted a newer version v3.3.1.3 with a few minor bug fixes and changes. It takes a few days for approval. This update has been about 5 weeks in the making. Enjoy jaws75 (aka inkedDean aka jimmyjames aka.......) I need to pick a name. lol
  15. Answered by legolash2o but.... What does this have to do with vlite? Please post in the proper area next time.
  16. Use any working x86 .xml but just change x86 to amd64 where it says processorArchitecture="amd64".
  17. I agree that the best way to do it is in DOS however, I have used the Asus update utility about 5 times on my MB without problems. The latest version 7.10.05 works fine in Vista x64 as well. I used it in x64. To find the latest 7.10.05 go to ASUS download in the dropdown select -Motherboard -Utility -Tools hit search. Now don't select BIOS-Utilities as this has an older version. Select Utilities instead. As with all BIOS updates use with caution. ASUS K8V SE Deluxe Vista Home Premium x64
  18. Well I just updated my MB bios a week ago and it wasn't till after I started the process I thought... oh crap what about my raid0. My raid was unaffected by the bios update. It's always best to back up the data just in case though. MB= Asus K8V SE Deluxe raid0 on the via raid controller not the promise controller by the way.
  19. There is nothing wrong with my Autounattend.xml. It always launched the batch file before and I didn't make any changes to it. I only changed my install.wim which gets loaded from my hard drive. The DVD was also the same as before. The batch file did get launched but very very late. It had to get triggered by another setup. That's the weird part. For what it's worth or in case someone is looking for an example of someone else's .xml, here it is. Don't just copy this and use in yours. It won't work because of the path to the install.wim (premium.wim). Also it's x64 not x86. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend"> <settings pass="windowsPE"> <component 20. If you use the base from driverpacks.net it can add HD/SCSI/RAID controller drivers for text mode setup. Meaning you don't have to press F6 to load the drivers. They are available and will be loaded by Windows setup. As for manual.... Adding drivers to txtsetup.sif is really not that hard to do. There are some tutorials out there. When I used XP I just added this to the end of txtsetup.sif. Be careful because there is a sometimes invisible character at the end of the txtsetup.sif. It must go before that "invisible" character. Notepad won't show it but Notepad2 will. [SourceDisksFiles] fasttx2k.sys = 1,,,,,,3_,4,1 viamraid.sys = 1,,,,,,3_,4,1 ptipbmf.dll = 1,,,,,,3_,4,1 [HardwareIdsDatabase] PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376 = "fasttx2k" PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3373 = "fasttx2k" PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3149 = "viamraid" [SCSI.load] fasttx2k = fasttx2k.sys,4 viamraid = viamraid.sys,4 [scsi] fasttx2k = "Promise FastTrak 376/378 (tm) Controller" viamraid = "Via VT8237 Sata Raid Controller" Then added the cabbed files fasttx2k.sy_, ptipbmf.dl_ and viamraid.sy_ to my i386 folder. Windows then recognized my two raid controllers on my Asus K8V SE Deluxe. I didn't have to press F6. You will need to know the info for your controllers. It would be easier to just use the base from driverpacks.net though.
  21. This just happened to me. I installed Vista yesterday using my Autounattend.xml. For whatever reason my batch file did not execute using <FirstLogonCommands>. I checked setuperr.log and there where no errors. It always ran before. Whatever... I just ran the batch file to add my apps. Now the strange part. I just installed the WAIK to do some tweaks and at the end of the installation my batch file started. The installation of the WAIK would not finish until I closed the batch file. As soon as I closed the batch file the installation of WAIK finished. what do ya think caused that one?
  22. I have 33 that I integrate but it's a bit different for everybody. There are a few updates I don't add because they are for apps or hardware I don't use. I don't install the update for Intel CPUs because I use AMD. etc... Also I run x64. x86 would be different as well. The best thing to do is check the list of installed updates on your PC. That should be all you need.
  23. You don't even have to open your registry. You can do it all form a batch file. Mount the install.wim load the reg hive. execute a .reg file changing all entries from "[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT" to "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\test" unload the hive unmount the install.wim easy as pie
  24. I modify the default by mounting the install.wim and then loading the default users part of the registry into my registry and modifying it there, then saving it back. Sounds complicated but is rather easy to do. read here The default users reg is located at %systemdrive%\Users\Default\ntuser.dat Always modify the registry with extreme caution. reg load HKLM\test D:\Vista\Build\mount\Users\Default\NTUSER.DAT reg unload HKLM\test
