Windows 2000 Professional-CD SP:4 - 5.0.2195.6717 Agi

Just tested it. Not working on W2K : Invalid OS Your OS is too old ! Agi

Don´t know, if it´s the same regkey for Xp, since I´m using Win2000 and Win98SE. Sorry, Agi
-
There is one Tweak, nearly nobody knows or thinks about: If you install nvidia graphics drivers, the "videostandard" is set to NTSC, what is pretty annoying, if you live in a PAL B country and want to capture from TV. Agi
-
Sounds good ! Will it be XP only ? Agi
-
I don´t think, you need to grab them from the nlite inf. There are several RegTweak Databases on the net already. Some of them also have the .reg files in their downloadsection. So they don´t have to be converted anymore, to be applied. Agi

There is TweakUI (freeware) and for commercial use there is XPlite. Agi

Since the Forum Crystal Ball is still away, for major upgrade to anticipate vlite problems, we still need your last session ini. Agi

We had exactly the same question in the german-nlite forum two days ago. Basically you can reduce the folder by selecting: remove drivers after installation remove .cat files remove double dlls clean the tempfolder clean dll and drivercache remove unneccessary drivers and components and if you bought it : run XPlite on the fresh system Agi

Seems, you searched for the wrong keywords. The answer is here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&...st&p=656458 Agi

NO, you should do it directly before nlite creates the iso. Agi

Will give it a try. Finally removed some files manually, but in the long run, I had to move 110GB (with 5 freezes due to VIA 4in1/ Hyperion drivers) and format the drive. Found out, there was something wrong with the ownership of the folders/ files. Suddenly there were, instead of the one and only administrator before, also administrators, S-1-5-21-4053075971-2917252117-2478306495-3000 and S-1-5-..... Maybe I couldn´t do it easier, because I "nlited" "grouppolicies". Agi EDIT Tested the new standalone and it´s working fine now !

Hi ! Guess I found the reason for a betabug, mentioned here and in the german-nlite forum. You will get the error messages "can´t access sfc.dll" or "tcip is in use" during copying the source CD to a folder with nlite, if the window, that contains the folder you are copying the source to, is opened (even if it´s minimized to the taskbar). As soon as it´s closed, nlite runs as fine as usal. Agi Sorry ! Was a Problem related to something else ! Either first time testing of Silent.NetMaker or UniversalExtractor. Agi

Actually, he´s the third, jacklours had the same problem. I´m using an nlited W2KSP4 with admin rights. I extracted the zip to : Z:\progbu\testinst\treiber_tools\uniextract16beta_noinst Z:\progbu\testinst\treiber_tools is the folder, where the 1.5 and 1.6 installers are in. 1.5 was uninstalled before (made 2 reboots, just to be sure). Sorry, but I removed the zip and most of the unzipped files, directly after it failed. There are just the bin, docs and lang folders left. The message said "Zugriff verweigert" ("access denied"), when starting the exe. The error occurring while removal sais (roughly translated) either "can´t be removed, source is possibly open" (7zip) or "can´t be removed, source is used by another process" (lang files). Cannot even copy or rename the folders, guess I have to move my backup partition and format it, to get rid of ´em. Agi

Ooops ! Seems, I skipped that, when I went through the 35 pages, sorry ! The drivers are for an old Mustek 600IIEP parport scanner and the guys don´t provide W2K drivers for it. So I have to use the NT4 or Win98 drivers and apply some tweaks to the registry. But also tried to extract the W2K drivers for the 1200. Was also a nogo, same error. Sorry, can´t provide a link without breaking the forumrules, ´cause Mustek wants to verify the letters on the product label. Agi

Hi Nitro332 ! Thank you for this tool . I´m using the v1.5 and have no problems. Just checked out the 1.6 no installer /standalone version and it´s not working for me. When I started the .exe, I got a "no access" error and I can´t remove the folder due to several "in use" errors (7z, simplified chinese,...), even though there are none of those processes shown in the taskmanager. Will now try the installer. Agi EDIT The installer works fine, as expected. Unfortunately the Mustek drivers are still unextractable (no valid PE file). Will try again with Win98SE. Still can´t get rid of the folder, even in Safe Mode...

@Tomcat76 I have edited the post. Hoped somehow, FDV had a little time to spare, to update his page. Checked the running system, backup and testpartion. There is no uncompressed sfcfiles except, in the running system. And HFSLIP is running, even though, it´s not recomended, to run anything besides... @bgray So it comes finally down to configuration of the the VM. All of them (VM) have to be told, what they should emulate and what system they´re running on. And even QEMU does not completely take the drivers, all others just take the ones, of the running system. ??? Agi

Since you didn´t fill out your profile (so many posts and such a mistake ), I don´t know what OS you´re using, but can´t see any new bugs, for W2K. Some were even fixed, so it´s definately better, than the 1.3.5 . For XP, just look at threads, there (still) seems to be a problem with SFC/ WFP. Agi

@-I- Completely agree with you ! There are no useful tweaks for W2K left, that have not been implemented into nlite already. Even tweakuiuiui warns about risking systemstability, if some are applied (e.g. removing network from desktop). But I have to disagree with : hide my computer from desktop (definetly NO) Nuhi fixed the problem in the 1.4b, so I don´t mind if the icon is gone from desktop, now that "my computer" is still accessible via the startmenu without the icon and shows up in the other menus as well. When I started to use nlite, I couldn´t use any desktoptweaks at all, so I grabbed them from the german-nlite.de regtweak section, winhelpline, winfuture and other pages and applied them via nlite. If somebody needs some "hardcoretweaks", he should do the same. Agi

Hi ! I don´t know if this still applies or just, if you use the FIXFOLDER (found on vorck.com): EDIT Removed, obsolete ! Agi EDIT I know, that´s a dumb question, but did you thoroughly check, that all folders and files in the source were not writeprotected, by en- and disabling the writeprotection for the folder, subfolders and files ? Agi
-
Hi melnikok ! This could have several reasons. Since the last patchday, there have been mentioned some issues regarding the .NET Framework, which is needed to run nlite. The last time I read something like this happening, the problem was solved by de- and reinstalling .NET and nlite. Agi
-
Ah that´s, what I thought ! You made some basic mistakes. Never select anything else, but "integrate servicepack", if you want to use the folder later on, as a clean source. Never run nlite multiple times on the same source. To get a fully patched, uptodate W2K, you now have two choiches, but unfotuanately, both require to start from scratch. Sorry, but it´s neccessary. The first one is Kelsenellenelvian´s Tip. Use nlite and integrate the SP4, Ryans addon, apply tweaks, drivers, remove components and create an iso in one go. The disadvantage is, you have to use Windowsupdate later on. The second one (that I prefer and regularly use) is a little bit more complicated, so be warned. Use HFSLIP and Tomcat76´es page ( http://users.telenet.be/tc76/winup/_win2k.html ) to create the source and use nlite afterwards to integrate drivers, remove components, apply tweaks and configure the unattendsettings. Even if you use the first one, Tomcat´s page gives you a pretty neat list of the actual updates, but the problem is, not all of them can be used for nlite. Hope, this was a little bit helpful, Agi

Are the sessioninis from different tests or did you run nlite multiple times on the same source ? Maybe you could try to use IEpatcher http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/control.htm you have to scroll down to the bottom of the page. Agi The htm problem sometimes also occurs, if you remove "help".
