gibbz, how does one applies hotfixes with vLite?

This is an IE7 integration bug. If it happens without integrating it then it's the IE7 bug, I hope that's not the case. Only x64 as far as I know and it should have been bypassed. Maybe some hotfix is triggering it, I adapted it for the IE7 on itself. So...people who have this issue with latest nlite please attach your preset used to create that install, thank you.

Haven't stumbled on those weird issues just yet so I can't comment on that. About the calculations...are you referring to the Vista's built-in copy routine which vLite uses? This almost rhetorical question means that it's not under my control, it's much better copy routine than what I would be able to come up with manually. Your argument is valid and I hope there is a tweak for Vista to disable that...anyone knows one?

kaleidoscope, it was a question of features/.net dependency. I chose features because with .net it's much easier and faster to develop. Btw try the Framework Lite, you can find it on the download page. Or just don't use it, we were over this question few times.

It will work on Start Menu programs but for files directly from there don't know. What I am sure is that the Explorer file searching will work, only slower. But how often do you really search for some file.

Never heard of it. Try to configure Autorun option for the empty CD. See if maybe TweakUI has that option.

Did you both try to remove Windows Defender and the Windows Search? I see those two as the biggest cloggers.

It's the Search Assistant. I would call that Dog ugly and confusing while this classic look is functional and you can quickly enter what you need...but that's just in my opinion. If you want to try to return it trigger the srchasst.inf file from the full install. Please don't expect me to walk you through it, I'm kinda against the return policy since it can get hard and pointless.

Yeah, it's not the ISO size, it's the Windows installed size. ISO would be hard to guess since it's compressed (actually image is), different file types have different compress ratios.

Copy full DVD and you should see the Snipping Tool listed in the components, Accessories.

It's the antivirus thing. Try to search this forum for more info or see if just disabling the antivirus helps, if not you'll have to temporary uninstall it.

Thing is before when vLite configured the reg entries it would leave it fragmented if some components removed (that's how Windows operate with it to do it faster), now it's all tidy. Obviously this doesn't change a thing in the entries, it's just how the registry is written to the hdd.
