Before we had the same issue with the Media Center edition, it turned out that it needs couple of components to work. Search the forum, maybe someone talked about it, I vaguely remember someone saying it needs Media Center components (probably compatibility option) plus few others, presumably Tablet PC ... I'll try it myself eventually, you are welcomed to fire a few trials in virtual grounds if you're interested. And let me know if you find any more info.

As far as I know it would require patching the syssetup.dll file. I would do it if there were a lots of votes for it. Generally it's not recommended.

Hm, you know what you should try. Integrate chipset drivers before graphics drivers. For example if it's intel then insert all Vista folders from the extracted Intel chipset drivers to be the first on the list for integration, then insert forceware below it. It could be that laptops need that extra chipset info to detect GPU. A long shot but this method should be used anyway.

It is fixed, meaning only Application Experience will remove Compatibility Tab as the description states.

That shouldn't be done. Just download the original service pack exe, don't touch it, open nlite, next, select Slipstream page, next go there, click Insert and choose that original untampered EXE. OR if you want it decompressed then after pressing Insert on the Slipstream page select that extracted folder and inside it i386\update.exe But just don't recompress it or tamper with the folder structure. It all needs to be as it is once extracted.

Yeah this guy who reported McAfee as being the cause, he says it didn't help until he uninstalled it and rebooted twice. Weird I know. And it may be just coincidence.

Nope, until I get that error nothing can be done. I repeat it must be some sort of antivirus you have installed. I'm not saying that it doesn't work with antiviruses, I use one, but sometimes people reported that it was the cause. Then I would try that version and it was fine for me, so it must be some sort of combination.
