  1. That means you removed some components from it in the previous session. Right?
  2. Please attach your preset and I'll check it (last session.ini from that ISO/DVD).
  3. Download selfextracting nLite and you have a portable version. Installer's only difference is the uninstall info in the reg.
  4. Yes vLite works with Wave1 as well.
  5. Cops of MSFN, unite! May you live enough until we are all uploaded.

    Windows Server 2008?

The core is the same. Meaning the difference, if any, is in the default settings, like priority and cache schemes. vLite supports it, except component removals.
  7. tVdP, that's weird. First are you clear on the select=remove component part? Were you slipstreaming on a clean installation files, not previously vLited or anything integrated? Gladiac, huh, I didn't change anything. Try to run "vLite.exe /unwim" for it to uninstall the filter, then reboot and run it normally. But also consider once more what you have installed lately.
  8. geese howard, you see that PkgMgr taking cpu time? That is the proof that it works. Now that error after it, copy clean Vista DVD again and reboot your pc, try then. Please no more screenshots. Dynaletik, ok thx. marauder16, 400MB sounds fine for 32bit with so much removed, are you sure it just stops and it actually didn't finish fine. If the install works then it is fine. For LAN connection keep DHCP if you don't know how to setup IP addresses.
  9. geese howard, what do you mean still, this is the first time I see that report. Could be that I missed your first one. Anyway it works but could be that it stops for some on XP as a host, gonna retry that little later. edit: btw make sure that it is freezed because it sure does stay long while integrating, check in Task Manager if there is activity.
  10. I did see it and I have that Junk Filter update in my WU as well, don't know why yet.

Choose the one which you want to configure. If it fails let me know which and attach the preset (last session.ini in the root after removals). But first retry it because extraction issues are mainly because of corruption. It can be safer to slipstream only one version and when Applying choose Rebuild One.
  12. Just a few new components and fixes, wrapping up the branch. Changes and download
  13. Tried it on my install and it worked but when I tried it with your preset it did fail. Gonna check it out, thx. edit: works for me because I used upcoming version, let me know if it fails with 1.1.6RC
  14. You should have read the descriptions while removing. Reinstall and keep Windows Image Acquisition.
  15. Ok. Btw let me know if you have the MSU link, I only got it from Windows Update. It could be in the CAB form, tried integrating the one from the cache folder but it did not integrate.

    vlite & sp1 options

Weeks? It took me one hour in total today. Plus an hour before that to prepare the ISO. I think my record was a 2 month install I reinstall just because there are new components removable, can't wait to try it. No, not possible without the reinstall. It surprises me that person with your predispositions (not wanting to reinstall) even used vLite to remove some components. Well you could try the File and Settings migration wizard and transfer the settings from one to another if you didn't remove it. But you will have to install 3rd party applications and possibly setup, I never used migration wizard so maybe you can restore after the applications are installed to rewrite their settings. My recommendation is to use full SP1 once you install it, that way you will increase your chance of not needing to reinstall in the near future.
  17. Below 1GB installed, memory usage below 150MB (it is at 188MB now when all removed in 32bit Vista). But how much longer vLite will be developed is unknown, I might not have the time, there is some job in sight.
  18. As MagicAndre1981 says, that error is when no .NET installed.
  19. Yeah, will see about it but can't promise it.
  20. That last part may be the key, XP as a host. It worked on my tests but it takes one file to be of the wrong version and the Filter Manager goes to hell (thing which loads the image). If you are familiar with virtual machines please install Vista or clean XP SP2 in one and try vLite in it. Let me know how it goes if you try it, that would eliminate the host issue.
  21. Ok but now we are entering the realm of Vista bugs. If with removed components it works for me and sometimes worked for you, since the issue is reported all over even without vLite that means that sometimes when it doesn't work it is Vista bug.
  22. bka4u2c, crash during apply is fixed in next one. hclarkjr, Vista issue with reading a lot of files. sp00f, it does not work for me. Gonna try on full Vista. RMDesai, no plans to change it for now so yeah just backup that and use later on. If I update I will put it in the changelog. MagicAndre1981, let me know if he can try some test version, tell him to contact me. Also he is using some sort of Syspreped Home version, who knows what is different there.
  23. - don't have a clue, it was Picture Viewer in XP, maybe there now just for compatibility purposes. I remove it and don't miss it. - Picture Viewer is a part of Picture Gallery
  24. My KB938371 also on x64 was installed just fine. Maybe that install before reinstall had some issue, it worked before for you as well if I understood correctly.
