  1. @XL-DJK95355 "Gold" means it is the original release of the operating system (i.e. no service packs).
  2. @Kiki: I'm sure he'll do it after he finalizes it and gets more feedback. @Tomcat: I really like the new features. Just one suggestion - automatically delete MSSecure_****.cab so there's one fewer file! Thanks. Edit: Also, maybe a single file to download the HFNETCHK + wget + CMD package?
  3. Hmmm...given that some people are still having problems with non-English versions, it's possible that the problem lies with the handling of KB898543 for localized languages. But I'll let Tomcat deal with it.
  4. I have tried using both 61209a and 61210a. I have tried with a CD install and in VMware. Setup always restarts around T-38 (after it installs network settings). I will repeat with HFSLIP 1.2.0 if necessary (this I have not yet tried). I did not have such a problem with earlier versions (at least 1.0.3 and earlier; not sure if I used 1.1.0 at all).
  5. @Kiki: As I assume you found out, DirectX 10 is not supported on XP.
  6. Nothing wrong on my computer. Using IE7 and Firefox.
  7. And how's the work on the PDF? Haven't heard anything on this page in a while. @Camarade_Tux: What's wrong with that?
  8. That works quite well, Tomcat! I, however, (and this is not on a recently-HFSLIPed installation) get a message that I am missing KB922760 (cdfview.dll has a less than expected version). However, I have IE7 installed. Wouldn't I not need the IE cumulative update?
  9. Can you try redownloading MUWEB_SITE.cab? I still have yet to test to see whether I encounter the same error with the latest release and IE7. Will report back my findings as I soon as I get a chance!
  10. From FDV's site: Well, the best of luck to you! Thanks for providing HFSLIP and computer users alike with your wonderful fileset (which I'm afraid to admit I've never used)! On behalf of everyone, we appreciate all your work! P.S. It's weird that I just noticed this.
  11. Do you know what it's replaced by? Tomcat still has it on his list.
  12. Many updates included in this revision. See the changelog for more info. Note: Not all of the updates added are shown on Windows Update. Examples are KB922120 and Windows PowerShell 1.0 (KB926139). Note #2: I did not include the WMP11 folder in the embedded list because I felt that it would make the list too long. You are welcome, however, to look at the downloadable checksum file, which includes it.
  13. @Tomcat76 So, are you saying heisking's update is the same as the update you wrote about? Edit: Never mind, yes, it is.
  14. Thanks for the heads-up, Tomcat! @Kiki: When Microsoft gets shut down by the courts.
  15. Dell and other OEMs keep their CDs activation free through use of the OEMBIOS* files. There are four of them in \I386. I believe all you need is to copy the right ones to that folder and everything else should work. However, I would advise you to read up on it more as it's possible that my memory is failing me right now.
  16. Yes, unfortunately, you can't have MU automatically detect the DLLs unless you run the file I've attached to the following post. Place it in HFSVCPACK. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=505339
  17. @ndr64, Microsoft releases a new version of the DirectX SDK binaries bimonthly. Windows XP SP2 does include DirectX 9.0c. The only updates included in the dated package are Direct3D gaming binaries and other files that you probably won't need right now. If you want the extra binaries, extract only the ones that Tomcat's page mentions and put them in HFCABS.
  18. Yes, that is correct. Windows Rights Management Services Client SP2 (KB917275), along with Remote Desktop Connection (Terminal Services Client 6.0; KB925876), are now offered on Windows Update. On a side note, KB905474 is unfortunately back, according to KB894199. Well, I have a genuine copy of Windows XP, so it doesn't really matter for me! In addition, WMP11 and IE7 (if not yet installed) are also on WU/MU.
  19. Hello, berntie! Thanks for your well thought-out post!! Unfortunately, I have not had time to read your entire message before writing this reply, and I apologize. I do however want to make a few notes. Regarding your suggestions, all of this has in some way been directly or indirectly discussed in the past. At one point a few months ago, the authors (and a few particular users) decided that the script was becoming too much bloatware. After a relatively long discussion, they cut down on certain sections of the script. Although I understand that having different versions for each OS or component to slipstream would in same cases be good (and I obviously appreciate your suggestions!), I feel that the cons outweigh the benefits. For one thing, like you said, large parts of these subscripts would be duplicated. In addition, it would be very hard to maintain. We made such a suggestion to Tomcat76, but it seems obvious that it would be a lot of work for him (if not already ). I will probably have more thoughts after I read more of your post, but for now, toodles!
  20. You may want to try removing some of your silent, switchless installers (HFSVCPACK) and addons (HFAAO) and see if that solves the problems you are experiencing.
  21. Yes, the_guy is correct. KB898543 is the OOBE fix for WMP11.
