There isn't such a thing as "Windows 2007". Could you add more info (like is it a network printer and if not how it is connected and to which computer) ? You might find this post usefull.

Here is a psu calculator and be sure to set a higher component you're not sure or the component isn't listed. I'd say without even checking that your psu is not enough as when you're overclocking not only the cpu but some other components will require more power. An overloaded psu would most likely not start sometimes; might also provide a nice burnt odor; some of the lines might not be powered sometimes; it could start a fire...... Usually, it is not the component you want to be overloaded as you might damage the other parts (most valuable) of your computer.

This is a single ntfs rights setting: - The security tab is for settings the rights to add or remove or modify rights on a files or folders. - The ntfs rights are not the same everywhere by default: in your documents and its subfolders, everyone should not be there. To fix this problem, you only need to create a shared folder (c:\share) properly with everyone on it and then copy (not move) documents scanned and stored else where there. This way all copied documents will inherit the rights of the good folder. If you move documents instead of copying them, you might have the problem again as when you move a file/folder on the same partition it will keeps its rights from the source folder. Also, if everyone is need, that's most likely because you're using the guest account and that's dangerous. A proper way to do things, is to create an account on the computer you want to share the files and add it in the security tab on your shared folder and then use it when connecting from another computer.

Browsers with Silverlight

The only "feature", i can imagine for the x64 IE, is that it can use more than 4GB of memory but is that a really a feature or the reverse? -
Mounting .VHD / .VDI file using Grub4dos.

A good start point would be that you disable the automatic reboot when crashing (F8 at XP boot) and post the stop error code. -
It's pretty amusing to see how xp is now more than 20 years old even if it was created only 10 years ago.

As you did in your next answer, but you need to be sure that the file "VistaInspirate2Ultimate.exe" is in the folder "C:\bricopack". Anyway it should not compile if you didn't put the right path or the file isn't there. And yes, it does include the original installer in the new .exe. As for the error you get while using it in wpi, what line did you use to launch it from wpi ?

Slipstreaming DriverPacks onto XP installation DVD
allen2 replied to JedClampett's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Yes you understood perfectly: boot from the live CD then insert the usb drive then copy the drivers from the usb drive to the hard drive. As for the linux live CD, i would recommend system rescue CD as it comes with ntfs R/W support for sure and i've known it since about 8 years. And i don't know if ultimatebootcd comes with ntfs r/w support. And yes, if you know how to mount an ntfs partition in linux (it is easy but if you don't know, i can explain it to you), this will be probably the easiest way. As for the other thing perhaps integrating sp2 will but i don't really as the other ways will work for sure, i'd go with them. -

Before any kind of driver integration which might be a lot of work, here is what i would do: - identify the hwids of the unknown devices as explained there. - then find the right drivers: sometime just google and the PCIxxxxxxx string is enough to find the right driver. This step is not needed if you want to try the drivers packs but i don't like those and always go to the manufacturer website and try to find the right driver before trying anything else. - Then if you found some of the missing drivers you can choose between: - Remove the hard drive from the laptop and plug it on another computer and then copy the needed drivers. - Or boot with a linux live cd (as most of those have all needed drivers) and copy the needed drivers. When you're sure of the drivers, you can integrate them using tutorials here or using nlite. Also, if you provided more information about your hardware, someone could have found the right drivers (usb not working is very strange as most usb drivers are provided in XP SP2/SP3). -
I'd also run autoruns to check if there are also related reg entries.

Ok, i think everyone here will need a lot more information like the make and model of your motherboard, what were the symptoms exactly and what did you do and how you did it. If you provide no information, unless someone has a spare crystal ball to share with us, i don't think anyone will be able to help you efficiently. As a generic advice, if it is a desktop computer, you could try removing all parts then add one by one ( begining with cpu then ram then video card if existing then hard drive then cd/dvd drive) and see what it does. For example at step motherboard+cpu, it should beep an error code complaining about missing ram.

Parallel phone connections and two modems attached to them
allen2 replied to kumarkumar's topic in Networks and the Internet
Right now dsl modem doesn't allow this kind of thing (you only put one modem on one phone line) just like with any RTC modem. Perhaps in the future, there will be modem allowing this but i don't think so. But you could perhaps use the parallel phone cable (usually with rj11 connectors) to transmit the ethernet signal although the other phone lines can't be used as phone lines anymore after this mods: - Check how many wires are connected between two phones plugs (not only the connected wires, sometime there are more wires that are not connected and even in some cases ethernet cable was used to connect phones plugs). If there are less than 4 wires, then this is simply impossible as the lowest ethernet signal need at least 4 wires. If there are at least 4 wires (8 would be best to have at least 100Mb/s), you can continue to the next step. - Identify where the phone line is first connected : usually, there is one phone plug which is connected to the external phone line and the at least on of the other phone plug. This phone plug will be called the "master". - Now you need to disconnect the wires between the phone plugs except the external phone line which will stay connected to the "master" phone plug. - Then if you had more than one phone plug connected to the "master", you'll need at least a ethernet hub/switch, if you wish to share internet between all connected rooms. - Then you need to add a new female ethernet connector next to the "master" phone plug and wire it to the disconnected one (if you had more than one on the "master" plug, you'll need to add more ethernet connector as you need one for each). To wire it properly, read how there. - Then do the same for each of the other plugs. - then connect ethernet cable (cross over or straight depending on your modem and how you will connect all things). As sometimes a picture is easier to understand here is an example : original phone wiring and after modifying it : The black lines are the walls, the blue one are the existing cable between the phone plugs, red rectangles are the phone plugs, the green line is the external phone line and the brown rectangles are the ethernet plugs. As you can see, the room 3 isn't connected directly to internet (you'll need to add either an ethernet cable or a hub/switch between the 2 ethernet plugs in room 2 if you want to use internet sometime in room 2). -

No the drivers must be integrated in the XP install, if you want them to be installed automatically. -
How to download all High-Priority and Optional updates
allen2 replied to vipejc's topic in Windows XP
No idea and "Installed On" is also empty on my end. Perhaps another member knows why. Also, this MSKB contains a little more information about the reg entries for hotfixes. -
You might also try to test them with the hard drive manufacturer tools (drive fitness and datalife guard) and do full surface test.
-
I'd try to either remove the hard drive from the boot in the bios or remove it physically and see what happen when booting from a cd/dvd (i'd set only boot options in bios to only try CD/dvd and nothing else).

How to download all High-Priority and Optional updates
allen2 replied to vipejc's topic in Windows XP
For the registry key, you can find the most installed hotfixes (all should be there) there: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\HotFix -
Sometimes antivirus cause those problems (then excluding the folder or disabling the AV should solve the problem).

Nlite allow you to provide any folder path for program files (in unattended then general) and any folder path for documents and settings (in options). You just need to create the partitions before and if you specified the right paths, it should do exactly what you wanted.
-
First rename your file .a3x to .au3. Second edit it (open it with any text editor) as explained previously (and save it). Third, to compile an autoit script, you don't need any knowledge: - launch from your start menu then programs then autoit then "compile Script to exe" - choose as source script your au3 created with the previous steps - choose a destination .exe (for example "VistaInspirate2Ultimate_silent.exe") - click "convert" And you should have a .exe which will install as you wanted. Optional step: Then you should try it on a clean install without wpi (perhaps a virtual machine).

There is a silent install for adobe master collection cs5.

Creating wim of partition is like copying the content of the partition so if you want to backup your computer this way, you should need to create wim of all partitions including the one stored on the other drive.
