1. hi! no need for big fonts. hfslip doesn't work this way.as for your concern, try to read more fr http://hfslip.org under extras about hfaao ... see if this [Addon] Microsoft Security Essentials 1.0.1611.0 courtesy of DaRk MaDnEsS works for you
2. hello admins! any chance the limit could be lifted? appreciate it.
3. thanks tp! i'll try this & have already downloaded the xp reducers ... will report back over the holidays
4. hi! if this should be done, specific note must be posted as this deviates from what ms offered as the exact downloadable filename. thanks!
5. got to try this (after the holidays though) ... & see if this works better for me (compared to my prev miss here) ... thanks! oh yeah ... it'd be great to have tc back
6. Happy Holidays (Merry Christmas & Happy New Year ) HFSLIP folks! Here's more to HFSLIP & its users ... God Bless and best wishes everyone!
7. hi! what is the effect of the change in msxml to the package, specifically if this msxml update only affects xp sp2? cheers!
8. hi strel! does it matter if this is for xp sp2 only? looking at this post by halfman: thanks!
9. hi! list in that link is perhaps just being ported from mim0's (hmm ... perhaps, separately maintained too )... there had been diff xp lists prepared by tomcat, tommyp, muppet hunter ... & the latest one is maintained by mim0 ... which mostly use (coupled with the hfslipfc tool)
10. Yes, but see link in #1 below first... ??? Just do the first thing, noting the link in #1 given below... 1 - Not that I'm aware of but go here and download the entire cd. Everything is there (Support, Valueadd, Dotnetfx). Just delete the "old" folder and copy the "new" folder in. 2 - Yes, just go search MS website BTW, do the Overlays first in the raw SP2-copied source. Folders other than I386 are irrelevant in relation to HF slipping or nLiting... well ... well ... what do you know ... didn't know i have this .iso sitting in my hdd all along (so no need to dl) so i'll just mount it & get the files from there appreciate the feedback submix. hope you don't mind me asking but where in ms do we find the sp3 versions? cheers!
11. appreciate you continuing to make this better strel! cheers!

deploy.cab

hi! can i safely replace DEPLOY.cab in sp3-slipstreamed \SOURCE\SUPPORT\TOOLS with this deploy.cab: Windows XP Service Pack 3 Deployment Tools? details of comparing the file show: DEPLOY.cab - MD5: C4A301A007391AE82D7CD186BFD69FB6 (1.48mb) deploy.cab - MD5: 7F95CC11FED63E35CE93CC77380957EE (1.65mb) will DEPLOY.cab be updated with slipstreamed sp3? further, can i place the latter in HFCABS? lastly, are there SP3 vers of the ff: WindowsXP-KB838079-SupportTools-ENU.exe WINDOWSXP-KB310994-SP2-PRO-BOOTDISK-ENU.exe thanks!
13. hi andreyvul! better if you just attached your lastsession.ini instead. anyways, kindly verify if you have the ff files in \windows\system32 or in \windows\system32\drivers: arhidfltr.sys, hidclass.sys, hidparse.sys, hidusb.sys, hidserv.dll, hid.dll (apart from not having any unknown devices)? cheers!
14. hehehe! same findings with bphlpt ... ran the cmd from hfslipfc-091213.zip too & those updates supposedly not to be identified as unknown or missing still came up.
15. hi! any chance this concerned could be addressed? appreciate it. cheers!
16. Mim0 thanks for addressing concern about KB955069 & KB954459 vs KB973687 in the latest update list (though i think last entry date in table 7 should be 2009-12-13 instead of 2009-12-3) ... further there are 2 entries now for this kb, 1 in table 2 as security update & another in table 3 as optional update (could be confusing) following-up on this too: appreciate it!
17. kb890830 is now included. KB909520 - I don't know the folder. --- i put it in HF KB917275 is now included WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe is now included KB898461 is now included KB905474 is now included KB915865 - I don't know the folder. --- i placed it in HF KB936929 fixed LegitCheckControl.cab included now MUAuth.cab included now muweb_site.cab included now wsusscn2.cab - for what do you want to include this??? --- saw this from your list as a "to do" in table 8; just thought i'd try it out wuweb_site.cab included now WindowsXP_KB968389_x86 solution has to come --- this is the 1 that requires the .reg file SmartCard_XP_x86.exe - I don't know the folder. --- for me, it's in HFSVCPACK_SW1 comments (text colored differently) inserted within the quote ... i suppose for contents in HFCABS, we must be sure to put updated files there (as there'd be no way for the script to look into each .cab's contents) ... thanks Mim0. btw, i have posted an inquiry about msxml6-KB954459-enu-x86 vs WindowsXP-KB954459-x86-ENU *** in another post ... looking forward to your feedback about it too
18. hi! to achieve the effect that you like, try to set these 3: in the Unattended section: Desktop themes -> Options -> Default theme: -> Windows Classic (this 1 the log shows as Default) in the Tweaks -> General section: Start Menu -> Use small icons in Start Panel (you already have this set based on a quick look at your log) Visual Effects -> Menu style -> Normal cheers!
19. reporting the same issue again with html downloads being incomplete ... samples are as follows: Windows Updates, For 2000 SP4, XP SP3, and 2003 SP2 saves only until last post page 6 of 7, post 300 HFSLIP - Test releases, No testing at the moment saves only until last post on page 6 of 45, post 300 Silent .NET Maker synthesized 20091207 - W2K/XP/2K3 x86, Custom .NET+hotfixes+langpacks UA installers/nLite-RVMI add-ons saves only until last post on page 6 of 13, post 300 ... saves vary from 250-400kb ... i understand this could be set limitations though it'd be great to have the entire html documents for offline viewing. btw, same results whether it's ie8 or ff 3.5 ... cheers!
20. looking forward to the results ... could be worth a look as there are actually 2 KB954459s, namely: Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 6.0 (KB954459) with msxml6-KB954459-enu-x86.exe dated 2/23/2009 as the downloadable file (this is the 1 i have in HF) while the other on the list being WindowsXP-KB954459-x86-ENU.exe dated 11/10/2008 from Security Update for Windows XP (KB954459) ... yet would it still matter if indeed KB954459's been replaced by KB973687? kindly verify. no biggie Mim0! great ... will run tests & report backedit: reporting back ... run was better ... other folders parsed (& if there is nothing in a specific folder, no report is logged) shouldn't KB969084 apply only to Remote Desktop Client = RD7 please do correct me if i'm mistaken? thanks. even with RDC=7, WindowsXP-KB969084-x86-ENU.exe was still reported as a missing hotfix (have yet to the try the updated script & see if results would be the same) edit2: all seems to be in place with the recent changelog: REM -------------------------------------------------------------------- REM Updates for Remote Desktop Client 7 REM -------------------------------------------------------------------- +RDC7 S|HFSVCPACK_SW1\WindowsXP-KB969084-x86-!lang!.exe|Remote Desktop Client 7 R|HF\WindowsXP-KB925876-x86-!lang!.exe|Remote Desktop Client 6, DO NOT MIX - Change Log: 2009-12-11 - added HF\msxml4-KB973685-!lang!.exe - removed wrong entry WindowsXP-KB970653-v3-x86-!lang!.exe (was twice) - added path to WindowsXP-KB925876-x86-!lang!.exe - added path to WindowsXP-KB969084-x86-!lang!.exe - MS changed Windows-!lang2!-KB943729.exe to Windows-KB943729-x86-!lang!.exe - Windows-!lang2!-KB943729.exe is obsolete now - Windows-KB943729-x86-!lang!.exe is optional nowhave this for a result: Check missing updates for Windows XP SP3: ----------------------------------------- missing (S): HF\WindowsXP-KB955069-x86-ENU.EXE (MS08-069: XML Core Services (MSX ML3)) missing (S): HF\WindowsXP-KB954459-x86-ENU.EXE (MS08-069: XML Core Services (MSX ML6)) Check missing updates for IE8: ------------------------------ Check missing updates for WMP11: -------------------------------- Check missing updates for RDC7: ------------------------------- just waiting for xml core svcs updates ... cheers!
21. hi cyberyeye! those that aren't in accordance with Mim0's list, in particular entries in tables 2, 3, 4 & 5, (as this list is the basis for cross-checking files, including those additional hotfixes that we have) will be identified in general as either "unknown" or "missing". Mim0 has still to figure out how to effectively identify if we have the latest files in HFCABS. i agree, indeed a very useful script i too have the following: Check for wrong, obsolete and unknown updates: ---------------------------------------------- Unknown: HF\KB961742-v3.exe --- (table 3) Unknown: HF\windows-kb890830-v3.2.exe --- in HF (table 10) Unknown: HF\Windows-KB909520-v1.000-x86-ENU.exe --- (table 9) Unknown: HF\WindowsRightsManagementServicesSP2-KB917275-Client-ENU-x86.exe --- in HF (table 10) Unknown: HF\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe --- in HF (table 10) Unknown: HF\WindowsXP-KB898461-x86-ENU.exe --- in HF (table 10) Unknown: HF\WindowsXP-KB905474-ENU-x86.exe --- in HF (table 10) Unknown: HF\WindowsXP-KB915865-v11-x86-ENU.exe --- (table 7) Unknown: HF\WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe --- (table 1) Unknown: HFCABS\LegitCheckControl.cab --- in HFCABS (table 10) Unknown: HFCABS\MUAuth.cab --- in HFCABS (table 11) Unknown: HFCABS\MuCatalogWebControl.cab --- in HFCABS (table 11) Unknown: HFCABS\muweb_site.cab --- in HFCABS (table 11) Unknown: HFCABS\wsusscn2.cab --- (table 8) Unknown: HFCABS\wuweb_site.cab --- in HFCABS (table 10) Unknown: HFSVCPACK\WindowsXP_KB968389_x86.reg --- (table 2, description column) Unknown: HFSVCPACK_SW1\SmartCard_XP_x86.exe --- (table 9)
22. I'm afraid I didn't understood. The task for HFSLIPFC is to report uncorrect updates. What kind of report do you have in mind?like hfslip.log These are already tagges with (S) = Security Updates and (O) as optional updates.hehehe ... you beat me to the buzzer here ... just went through the results & noticed the S & the O ... so i modified my post maybe less than a min before you submitted your reply I don't know HFSLIP_PRE*.CMD. like this from hfslip.org - advanced features: As far HFSLIPFC covers the updates of my update-list. For the case that you are using your own list (e.g. in a separate file - that's already possible) you can change the folders to check. This can be done in the HFSLIPFC.INI which is individual. But as default only these three folders are necessary.tried adding HFSVCPACK, HFSVCPACK_SW1 & HFSVCPACK_SW2 apart from the defaults but didn't work (as reported here thanks Mim0!
23. Mim0! posting here results of HFSLIPFC for it covers updates ... Check missing updates for Windows XP SP3: ----------------------------------------- missing (S): HF\WindowsXP-KB955069-x86-ENU.EXE (MS08-069: XML Core Services (MSX ML3)) missing (S): HF\WindowsXP-KB954459-x86-ENU.EXE (MS08-069: XML Core Services (MSX ML6)) missing (O): HF\Windows-EN-US-KB943729.exe (Group Policy Editor) Check missing updates for IE8: ------------------------------ Check missing updates for WMP11: -------------------------------- Check missing updates for RDC7: ------------------------------- missing (S): WindowsXP-KB969084-x86-ENU.exe (Remote Desktop Client 7)haven't KB955069 & KB954459 been replaced by KB973687 as per this post? as for KB943729, i actually have it in HF ... however, i think there's a mismatch in what the script is looking for: Windows-EN-US-KB943729.exe vs the downloadable file from ms: Windows-KB943729-x86-ENU.exe ... marked the differences in blue how about KB969084? is this not supposed to be in HFSVCPACK_SW1? if HFSVCPACK_SW1 is not parsed, this update would be reported as missing ... likewise tried to have the script parse HFSVCPACK_SW1 (just as i inquired in the other thread) by adding strings to the default: FOLDERSET=HF\*.*;HFGUIRUNONCE\*.*;HFCABS\*.*;HFSVCPACK_SW1\*.*;HFSVCPACK_SW2\*.* ... with the same result, missing KB969084 ... btw, i tried setting different values for Remote Desktop Client = under Selected components: via hfslipfc.ini REM ------------------------------------------------ REM Version of Remote Desktop Client REM REM Possible values: REM 6 = Remote Desktop Client 6 (default) REM 7 = Remote Desktop Client 7 REM ------------------------------------------------ RDC= ... used 7 in the 1st run & 6 for the 2nd run with a common result --- advising to shouldn't KB969084 apply only to Remote Desktop Client = RD7 please do correct me if i'm mistaken? thanks.
