Sorry for the basic question, but are you working as administrator "when you tried to point some of your software to the system disk" ? I don't see any reason why you would not be granted access to the C: drive. About formatting the D: drive "now", as Johnc suggests (before reinstalling), I doubt it'd solve your problem and I doubt Windows allows such suicidal move. Were the two directories on D remaining from a previous installation as well ?

A firmware is a software that manages a device. I guess firmware means that it is not intended to be (as a "normal operation") modified by the end user. It sometimes can be updated by qualified people, sometimes by end users, but it depends what kind of hardware we are talking about (by the way, this is a "Windows XP" software forum). New versions of firmwares are only developped when the device has a known bug.

can i play a console on a pc vga moniter
Ponch replied to starcraftmaster's topic in Hardware Hangout
No. The fastest DVD readers (20x ?) are about the speed of 10 years ago's HDDs, under the 30mB/s. -
In this case you are trying to mix unattended installation and imaging. IMHO, you can't reimage the C: and expect a fresh OS while part of it is on D:. I don't know if it would work nor even boot.

Anybody care to actually read the link provided by SilverArrow ? I'll quote: Means there is a problem and the guy describes the problem. Now some might have tried other things, or think or heard this or that, it doesn't change anything, does it ? +Wasted disc space is an other (obvious) point of view. I can't confirm anything as I have no "SP0" disc to start with. Cheers.

Some programs will also move all your files, moving choosen ones closer to the beginning of the drive. That takes far longer than just defragmenting or consolidating free space.

Tome it looks like corrupted data or HDD going bad. You should find a way to test your disk (chkdisk or hardware tests). Other possibility is overheating.

adding Ryans packs making the final product with nLite
Ponch replied to SilverArrow's topic in nLite
Yes you can integrate Ryan's pack with nLite to the corresponding source as is. You could also integrate SP3 through nLite but now you've integrated it to your source, it should be ok as well. -
USB Mass Storage, Data is invalid
Ponch replied to T.N.G.O.G.'s topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
it represent a file being transferred from one folder to an other. When do you get that ? As soon as you plug it in ? What hardware do you use (this is the Hardware forum). Is it that 600MHz PC in your signature did you upgrade it from 2k to XP ? If yes was your external drive working before on the same PC ? -
Unattended Installation or Cloning/Imaging of Win XP
Ponch replied to ravisunny2's topic in Software Hangout
There is a sticky post about those. -
and also the % of free space on the partition(allowing the program to move bigger chunks of data at the same time).

Unattended Installation or Cloning/Imaging of Win XP
Ponch replied to ravisunny2's topic in Software Hangout
What's usually refered to as 'an image' is a (mostly single) file. A file is never bootable. What matters is being able to apply the image from a bootable media. Most imaging softwares allow that. For the rest, DigeratiPrime sums it up. -
I thought so. nLite will remove/rename standard built-in accounts but not exotic accounts.

Rejoice, you're almost there. Check USB_Multiboot_10 from the "Install XP from USB" sub forum. It has plenty of options and possibility that will get you even closer to what you want. -running XP from local HD (though you don't need a stick for that, do you ) -running IMA files -running DOS and others

IrfanView.

Floppy Disk Image File. Open with equivalent of Winimage (did not try) or with Virtual Floppy Drive (did try).

Welcome to the forums. Searching would have got you to the nLite forum section ;-) nLite is not meant to be run on a previously modified XP install disk, in fact, doing so, some things work, some don't, I think that's the cause of your problem. I've found "Unattended" section to be quite picky in that matter. Do you want to delete those users on the running XP you've got now or on a next install ?

Need help with Failed Seagate7200.11 recovery operation

That thread is still alive. No need to double post. -

fyi, 4GB is the limit for file size on a FAT32 partition. 2GB was the limit for a partition in FAT16 Win95b and later (Win98) support FAT32. Win98 still does not support NTFS. Also does not recognize USB drives out of the box but there are universal additional drivers to be found.

If you want to create directories on D: and there is no D:, ... install crashes. It has always been like that. It was never going to stop and ask you where you want your D: partition to be created, how big, what file system..etc.

No offense but from what you (poorly) explain, you have very little knowledge of IDE setups, cables, master/slave, jumpers settings, formatting, partitions or drives cloning. Unless you really make an effort with your language, there is little we can do without risking copying the drives the wrong way. It just seems miraculous to me that you've done it succesfully before. Reassure us on those points. That setup is pretty common. My first guess is that you've set the 2nd drive as master on the CDROM's IDE cable, making it 2 master devices on one cable, there for "When I rebooted the computer, no secondary disk could be found." Unless you mean "no drive was seen in Windows".

unknown disc there is no disc in the drive xp sp2 installation problem
Ponch replied to ramireddyag's topic in Windows XP
The model of your computer ? More seriously, you probably just need to check HP's site for text mode drivers for your SATA storage controler and find a way to load them when it says "Press F6 to load drivers from floppy" (or something like that). -
Welcome to the forum. I suggest you first have your translation done by an other system or a friend so that your post becomes understandable.

There's a reason other than speed why one is called DDRII and the other one is called DDRIII. As an example, I type on this "old" laptop that uses 2x 256Meg of 333MHz DDR. I could buy 1Gig 400MHz DDR for ~€40 for upgrade, I could also buy 1Gig 800MHz DDRII for less than half that price, but I wouldn't. Wonder why the same amount of RAM at double the speed is half the price ? Simply because it won't work nor fit in my portable and the 1st is high end of one technology and the other is the low end of the next technology.
