  1. You could always install XBMC media center on your pc as I have used it to successfully watch the few region 1 dvds I have with my region 2 drive. XBMC is a great free and open source media center app that is great for streaming videos and watching dvds. EDIT: Sorry didn't realise this thread was as old as it is when I posted.
  2. @jaclaz Yes that was the exact guide I used, I followed the instructions exactly. Also thanks for the other link on WPA activation I'll take a look at it later tonight or tomorrow when I have some free time on my hands. I have a drive image backup of the pc when it was activated so not all is lost if I can't get it reactivated, the only problem with the drive image is that the system runs extremely slow hence the reason I attempted the reinstall. Many Thanks, IrnBruKid
  3. Hi, I backed up my wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files on my old PC running XP Pro and reinstalled XP. After the install had finished I booted to safe mode and copied the wpa files back into the system32 folder after renaming the wpa.dbl there to wpa.dblold. After rebooting the PC I was still prompted to activate Windows. There were no hardware changes at all and it was the exact same pc I got the wpa files from. Have I done somthing wrong or does this method no longer work? Hopefully someone out there can help me with my problem. Many thanks in advance IrnBruKid
  4. Sorry don't know about the IE problem, but if you are looking for a better defrag program you should try AusLogics Disk Defrag. I use it and find it much faster than Vista's defrag utility.
  5. Thanks very much, this will help me alot as I needed to move the vhd file off the root of my C drive to stop my Home Server backing up the vhd file. IrnBruKid
  6. Hi, I'm wondering how I could move my Windows 7 vhd to another location on my hard disk, then edit the boot menu to allow me to boot from it in its new location. My Laptop runs Windows Vista Home Premium x64 on the hard disk and on the root of the drive is a Win7.vhd file that contains my Win 7 build 7100 x64 install. Anyone have any ideas as to how I would go about editing the boot menu to point it to the Win7.vhd file in its new location? Many Thanks in advance, IrnBruKid
  7. Thanks for the reply but unfotunatly HDTune didn't fix the problem . After talking to some friends about the problem I have decided to treat myself to a new hard disk with much a bigger capacity. I'll let you know how the new hard disk is when it arrives which might be a while. If the new HD dosen't fix the problem at least I will have much more room for storage on my hard disk. Thanks for the help. IrnBruKid
  8. I'm not sure about other consoles but I know there is an official PS2 VGA cable for connecting to a PC moniter. I'm not sure how easy it would be to get one though, as far as I know they were only sold with the PS2 Linux kit which has been discontinued.
  9. When I am on my Laptop and when a UAC prompt is about to appear the screen goes blank and a squeeking noise comes from around the hard drive area. The problem also appears when I am logging on or off. It happens in both Windows Vista and 7 since I dual boot the Laptop. I know it probably isn't a software issue since i've clean installed to try and cure the problem. My guess is that the Hard Disk is faulty. Does anyone have any ideas to what the problem is? Hard Disk Specs Fujitsu MHW2120BH 120GB 2.5" HDD 5400rpm Many thanks in advance
