  1. try telnetting to your server from the outside and sending mail via command line, see if that gets through. if it does then try the same but with your domain name, see what happens
  2. open up dns and view all the records and verify no 2 records have the same name, see if that helps
  3. Hi all if anyone here has used round robin before and can help me i would be most grateful basically i have 2 servers, both have dns on them and both have 3 NICS each nic has a seperate IP so i set up round robin to balance the load. i checked it was setup by looking in dnsmgmt and cheking that there were 3 A records and 3 ptr records pointing to each server, now the problem..... when i ping one of the servers it always resolves to the same ip address. all the clients have static IP's should this make a difference? thank you for any help
  4. Anyone know which of these hotfixes are already included in 2003 R2? if any?
  5. maybe its the hibernation file? can you post the name of it?
  6. lol rougespear, yes your right with your technical jabberings, i meant 2 network interfaces on a single card
  7. do you mean that you have 2 ips on one NIC? if so maybe you have settings under the "alternative configuration" of your network card

  9. Lol iceman, thanks for the list of Dll's could come in handy one day
  10. if the VPN server is 192.168.1.100 and you go to another pc on the network (e.g 192.168.1.101) and try to create a VPN to 192.168.1.100 it should work. try it and let us know what happens (also XP firewall may be an issue, so disable it initially )
  11. iceman, out of interest what DLL handles SSL connections? thanks
  12. no probs dude, glad i could help. also iv never tried no-ip.org but iv heard good things so give it a go im sure it will all work for you
  13. can other machines on the network view SSL pages ok? or just this pc?
  14. regmon is a good tools for monitoring registry changes google it and see if it helps you
  15. LLXX, not calling you a liar but surely this is impossible? what printer is it? connection ect? im intrigued lol
  16. something like VNC thats logs directly into the console session would be better for this, only its not as good as RDP, i find it slower but give a go and see what you think it uses TCP port 5900 thanks
  17. this is easy. you can enable VPN connections to an XP machine by running through the new connection wizard and selecting advanced connection. now set a static ip on this machine of for example 192.168.1.100 forward on the router all traffic for port 1723 to 192.168.1.100 and now go to www.showmyip.com goto a friends house and create a vpn to your IP showmyip gave you and enter the username and password, voila! only thing is if your IP is dynamic then you may want to sign up at dyndns.org as you will be able to use a static hostname instead of your dynamically changing IP address thanks
  18. Hi All, i need some help with generating an SSL certifiacte if someone would be so kind i have a standard server 2003 with IIS 6.0 installed and certificate authority. i have created a CSR for the default website and exported it to a .cer file. i then opened up CA and issued the pending request, now i have a certificate sat in the issued certificates part and i dont know how to get it and put it into IIS to finish the pending request. can anyone offer any help please?
  19. i cant think of how i would do this..but does the exchange server have plenty of processing power, memory and at least a 1GBP/s network card? or even a teamed 2GBP/s NIC? i think that would help :S or at least it may be something to consider
  20. its easy! DEL %windir%\*.log and DEL %windir%\*.tmp
  21. Ok having read through that iv established that its only possible to create SSL certificates for servers in your domain is this correct? if so can anyone just verify for me if what i am attempting to do is possible? just to recap.... i want to sign somebody else's CSR basically to create an SSL certificate, is it possible?
  22. hey! thats fantastic, exactly what i was looking for, the only reason i said web edition is cause i heard someone mention in the past that web edition generates SSL certificates from CSR's, well i guess they were wrong lol thanks for the help i really appreciate it
  23. you mean so that a user can logon to any machine and doesnt have to configure their profile on that machine? doesnt this work with roaming profiles?
  24. Hi all, just wondering if anyone has had experience with this, basically i have been assigned a task to see if it is possible to create an ssl certificate for another company, ill explain better below: can i generate a CSR for securing their OWA site and instead of sending it to Thawte or verisign to sign can i sign it myself using our web server running Server 2003 Web Edition? i know and understand that if its possible the clients will recieve an error as we are not a trusted CA but i would like to know if its possible. thanks very much
