Hmm, what about in the properties of the NIC in device manager, what is the recieve buffer size set to? also double chck the link speed/duplex mode, i think this should be auto but maybe changing it manually would hlep. try the buffer size at 64k first tho, one change at a time also i believe Microsoft have their own driver built into XP for this chipset, if not you could certainly get it on windows update and try that one hope this helps
  2. in device manager right click on the adapter and select properties and then under the driver tab click uninstall driver that should do it
  3. you could try another cable and see if the problem still manifests itself, or you could try a different port on your router to the one that you are currently plugged into
  4. i suspect that if you open the computer and clean out the fans the noise will dissapear
  5. sorry to go a little off topic, are you saying that raid 0 on a mb will give no speed increase? but with a raid controller it will? also if so why? thanks
  6. if you right click on the scheduled task and run does it work? if so i would check the username and password u are using make sure its in the format domain\username
  7. for software to interact with any hardware device drivers are needed and SATA raid is no exception. an aleternative to the floppy is to integrate the raid drivers into your windows media, either manually or using nlite thanks

  9. Hi all, does anyone have a shell extension that enables you to right click on an iso or similar file and select mount with daemon tools? that would be fantastic, thanks
  10. has this pc ever been on a domain? or have you touched group policy on this pc?
  11. if you are trying to xcopy the files over i highly recommend using microsoft synctoy instead, its free and and can be scheduled from command line thanks
  12. a few things to consider: what signal strength is she getting? what wireless software is she using? are there any newer drivers for her wireless card? can both pcs browse the net at the same time when her brother is not downloading? thanks

  14. you need to go into the advanced tab and open the graphics card software, then clone the laptops display to the monitor. that should do it also set the laptop to do nothing when you close the lid thanks

  20. yeah thats it i remember now, i checked out the winnt.sif and found the same key on a few pcs. Also hp servers have this too, but hp desktops dont seem to use this method as far as i know so, im gonna agree with theflash that its been installed with a different cd
  21. because of the way dell install their machines, they ghost them or something cause all their keys (if found using jellybean or produkey etc) are the same, regardless of the oem sticker on the pc case
  22. if its any help, comodo firewall is awesome, combined with avast anti virus you should have no probs at all
  23. call microsoft. if its legal they will activate it for you, or rather their annoying menu system will activate it for you lol
