  1. Anyone know how to fix this error? Windows could not upgrade the file %1 from %2 %1: %2
  2. I will probably keep the IE 5.5 SP2 Core files, because users can remove IE 5 with IEradicator if they don't plan to use IE as default browser. I think OPPCOM 2.1 and IEradicator combine with an updated SP will give users a killer system.
  3. Like I said, the one inside SP is identical with the one on MDGx site.
  4. They are the same.Argh. Yes, they are both version 1.33 internally; I'm referring to the later version with the multiple rows of tabs (instead of the single, scrolling row) and the fixed tooltips, among other things. http://www.zisman.ca/tweakui/ has screenshots of both. They are identical
  5. I' ll take a #20 with no red. Thank you
  6. Users can still vote. I will use this one for myself
  7. Yes, I love the 3rd one. Thank you friend. I'm going to patch my explorer and stare at the start menu for a few hours,
  8. I like # 10, I prefer the Windows font style from # 1-9. I like how the 98 is separated from Windows. I also like the Second Edition font style, although it can be a little bigger and painted in RED. Thanks
  9. Ok Drugwash, you are the man right now What can you do with these? Bitmaps
  10. Thanks and if the red can be just a little bit darker, I will stop crying
  11. As you can see I waste no time It looks and feel original
  12. You're welcome! I'd still prefer the one to the left with 'uSP3' but hey, you're the boss. If you want an honest vote, copy/paste all versions presented here from all users (bphlpt, Lone Crusader, me) in a single image, give'em numbers and ask people to vote what they like most. Since most images are hidden within archives and not everyone would go to the length of downloading those archives just to look at a bunch of banners, the voting (if any) may not truly reflect reality. But then again, we have much bigger problems than a startup menu banner... And you know what's funny? Personally I always use small icons menu, which doesn't show a banner, because I just feel it's a waste of memory, besides having a huge menu that'd extend past the screen's height if it used large icons. But let's not be selfish, there's people who like it so... choose the best and enjoy! @LoneCrusader: Oh well, what's a few hours compared to a wasted lifetime... Since I built a few versions of that banner as well, one of them may find its way in, just for kicks. On the other hand, it shows I'm not having troubles with my system, having to reboot in Safe Mode, otherwise I would've already known that! My uptimer app shows current session has been up for 2 weeks 1 day 12 hours and 50 minutes. Go ahead, I like when people vote. It shows who all have interest. I have to say, I like LoneCrusader Second Edition font style better. It has a bolder look, it stands out among the other fonts. I'm too lazy to gather all the images. Can someone help me out please. Yes, I'm lazy too at times They are the same.
  13. I will either use the one with the red or without it. Lets see what others users think. Thanks, it looks great.
  14. Thanks Drugwash, I need a small favor, the red that you used in banner 1, can you add it to banner 2? Make no other changes please, just the color. Thank you very much.
  15. MS, that's for sure. MDGx , I don't think so... see this page. However it's true that the GDR branch is the safer one to use. If you notice I said depending on the situation. MDGx had some Unofficial hotfixes that was GDR. Not (ALL) but I know Microsoft hotfixes have both on most occasions. I guess its a toss up if you are specifically referring to Windows update or hotfixes. Windows update don't offer both versions but most hotfixes do.
  16. No rush buddy. I have been working on WinME SP3 beta. I'm trying to figure out things. ATM, I have a little free time, it could be gone by tomorrow.
  17. I really like Drugwash version, its really nice, but I LOVE the red color bphlpt added to Second Edition. Please guys work with me. Combine your talents
  18. The skills that I have learned over the years is to use GDR versions. This is what Microsoft and MDGx uses, depending on the situation. This is what Unofficial Windows 98 Second Edition Service Pack 3.x consist of This is why I trust Microsoft and MDGx most of the time, not cause they are always right (MOST OF THE TIME), but because they are(ACCURATE)
  19. There is a free version but it is limited.
  20. and, unless you know an extraction trick that I missed, none of them would extract it correctly. However, Universal Extractor (v1.6.1.62) and the Windows native method that decorso described both worked. You should get the following file structure: SP3GDR ...kernel32.dll SP3QQFE ...kernel32.dll update ...branches.inf ...eula.txt ...KB2758857.CAT ...spcustom.dll ...update.exe ...update.ver ...update_SP3GDR.inf ...update_SP3QFE.inf ...updatebr.inf ...updspapi.dll spmsg.dll spuninst.exe Did I miss something?
