  1. Do W3C standards hold any importance to you as a web developer? When you finish a website, do you run it through a validator, W3C or otherwise? What browsers do you test against? Do you develop content to standards, or to the browsers that will render it? (Poll can only have the 1st 3 questions)
  2. What software do you use to manage your complex and growing IP space? Say you are utilizing a full class B space and desire an open source solution. I know there are ISP-oriented solutions but am more curious about those aimed at enterprises.
  3. Your options really run the gamut! There is a big difference between running a home router versus building an ISA/OWA/VPN server. You shouyld focus on your requirements. What exactly do you need to do? If you have a good list then that will lead you to the best solution for you. Don't forget to include acceptable cost!
  4. I'm the type to pay extra for something that makes my life easier. So the device you linked is quite interesting. Might have to get one Thanks!
  5. Allow me to rephrase your question in order to clarify. Any PC in your environment that is attached to the network suffers reduced performance? Is that right? Is the reduction solely in processing power or in network activity? This affects all PCs the same? Can any PC perform as expected when attached to the network? One thing to try: If all PCs are similar or the same, you can try updating your NIC drivers. [ I adjusted your post to be more legible ]
  6. Yes.
  7. Sweet! You are awesome, Yzowl!
  8. Some updated splitters: Matroska Splitter 1.0.3.1 MP4 Splitter 1.0.0.5
  9. Interesting work. You have talent, but does your style mesh with the project?
  10. In addition to the pointer speed, there is also an acceleration feature you might try.
  11. Reinstalling is an idea to try. A broken stack is usually fully working or fully broken. But I supposed yours could be "damaged."

    SP3?

Newegg has the SP3 version for builders.
  13. I'm interested in getting the smallest target device (keyfob?) for network connectivity testing. All it should do is plug into an RJ-45 port and respond to pings. Static vs DHCP option would be interesting.
  14. Static IP or DHCP? Did you try pinging IP addresses instead of domain names? Consider two things: you have to resolve an address for ping to work and not all addresses will respond to pings. Pinging Google might fail because you can't resolve the address or you resolve an address that ignores ICMP (I think Google does have some servers that ignore).

    SP3?

It is available for system builders but I haven't seen a consumer version.
  16. Congrats on the longevity and great success of the project!
  17. A wireless access point provides wireless access to a wired network. A WAP likely has fewer features like ports and configuration options than a router. Prices are pretty comparable and affordable.
  18. Here is Compaq's page for that device: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...&qry=nC3121 There are no drivers available there. It does not say that the card supports WinME.
  19. LSA indicates a link's state. It is configured on Cisco devices by setting the link-state retransmit interval.
  20. Check the gateway address and DNS server addresses. Try to ping a known pingable IP to test if you can resolve properly.

    Windows Updates

Site updated to reflect these most current lists. Thanks, tommyp!
  22. In addition to the excellent odesk linked above, try http://www.elance.com/.
  23. It isn't perfect, but it works well for me. You could also use the Google box at the top of each page.
  24. Not likely in this scenario. It is dying too quickly. As long as the fan is running then it would generally take longer for a CPU to burn up. Good point. Make sure the test goes all the way through at least once.
