  1. i can only say on behalf of Unattended setups (as i don't use sysprep or have i experimented), but my distro is used on about 7 different computers all using different hardware from one another, but I have had to have any problems with it.
  2. do keep in mind, that though Microsoft didn't mention it, the RC1 that was released on TechNet has a few things crippled to prevent people from using it as a full fledged system. It could also be that SP2 considers XPlode to be a security risk. @X-Ecutioner: It's no longer BETA. It's in Release stage, just fine tuning it now.
  3. even if you don't use XPCreate, you should still integrate the updates before the batches.
  4. the only way I know of setting the associations with WMP9 is through regedits, and that's long and extensive and you have to do it for EACH extenstion you want.
  5. you may want to PM him about the error checking or email or somethign. Last i heard he was working on some new batches for SP2
  6. or hardware, like it it fails to initialize and it's a crucial component
  7. you are either using the wrong one, say your CPU is Hyperthead enabled, XP needs teh multiprocesser kernel. the two are ntoskrnl.exe and ntkrnlmp.exe first is for single processor, mp for multi- or hyperthreaded processors. You may also be using the wrong version. Say an old version with newer files installed.
  8. look for info on oobe.ini or the like in the ref.chm in the deploy.cab file. there is also posts on here about it. I think you can specific sections to show.
  9. did you edit eh txtsetup.sif and setupldr.bin in the BOOT folder and not in the folder with your i386?
  10. they don't have to be. they're in the system32 folder by default if you have Professional. Home may need them in the folder though.
  11. careful editing the inf driver files, it will make them unsigned.
  12. ummm.... you can't import the key while the user is logged on. You have to do it before the user logs on. The GUI enters all current information regarding the desktop into the registry upon shutdown/restart so the key would get replaced with the value that is currently in use.
  13. what browser are you using? Gosh's method shouldn't have an effect on that. But I know the browser I'm currently using (NetScape 6) can't enable the menu correctly.
  14. i think they all execute at the same time
  15. i'm guessing he's trying to install Office XP or 2003. and Cubie, .MST is a Windows Installer Transform file. i have no idea about the problem though. lol. you could try.... http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...Q294676&sd=tech that might help
  16. and if he has to hexedit his boot image, then he has a corrupted CD. Would really suck if the bios are screwed though.
  17. all i have it AR6.msi, you could try moving the files to a temp folder (excluding ar6.msi) and then try running AR6.msi to make sure. And you didn't get the associations set when you copied the files, because you just copied the files. Little common sense there. If i copy Winzip to a new folder, I still have to run Winzip to have it set the associations.
  18. /qn is no progress bar /qb is with
  19. i asked because I knew someone would, and taht way it's right at the beginning of the thread.
  20. uh..... seeing as that line isn't in anywhere in your batch file... when does it show up? after GUIInstall, with the WindowsXP adds and blue screen... or when? That has nothign to do with RunOnceEX, and you code looks fine so far, except a space between /s and Adaware6.exe
  21. i dunno about the new version, but the easiest way would be to use XTremeMac's MSI file. I'll look later when I have more time for a switch for the official install.
  22. just because I know someone will ask this sooner or later, it's better to get it out...
  23. if you use the InstallShield app, the control panel and other ATI software will be installed such as SmartGART and the like..... i personally use both methods.....
  24. now i just need a file to read the compiled isx files
