  1. Julie, I did not question your usage of Pro... I questioned your usage of a "corporate" version. Having worked for corporations that had VLK and Select partnerships your scenario seems a little odd, that's all I am saying. I know that the companies I have worked with would never give a copy of a VLK CD and key to any employee for usage at home. So, if you are using a legit copy, good for you. If you aren't... whatever. I won't lose sleep over it.
  2. It's basically an admission that you are using an illegal copy when you say you have a corporate cd and you don't know anything about it. Usually the only ones who would have access to these would be IT professionals. But in answer to your question, that file tells you it has SP2 on it.
  3. I'm not a big Simple Plan fan... but the message is good. There is a local band from where I used to live that is really good... They made a song called "Seventeen." It's about the lead singer's GF. She was killed by a drunk driver. I'll see if I can fish it up. It's a powerful song. I work for a company that helps people with their debts... Just yesterday we had someone call in who spent 2 hours on the phone with one of our reps. When asked what caused him to get in his situation he started crying. He and his whole family were hit by a drunk driver. Everyone was OK, except for him. He was blinded in the accident. He said all he could ever see in his mind was that night. It was so sad... I HATE DRUNK DRIVERS. If you have ever gotten into a car to drive when you know you shouldn't have... you deserve to die. I have no simpathy for these people...
  4. I will still argue that PC is just as good as a MAC for video editing and multimedia...
  5. I will argue that there is nothing that an apple can do that a PC can't do these days... What does OSX (Oh-Es-Ex) have that Windows does not? Eye candy... But take a look around. Windows is completely customizable. There are programs out there that let you change the whole layout. I even saw a skin the other day that emulates OSX (why the hell would you want to do that!?!?) i am more concerned with functionality than appearance.
  6. You can not use a VLK with an OEM disk. It will not work. Further more, if you really have to ask these questions then you do not have a Volume license with Microsoft. Further more, if you DID have a legit VLK then you could contact Microsoft to get a new CD. Think of the headache it would cause if you could use your VLK with your OEM CD... People would be going to work and extracting their CD key from their office PC and running it at home. @mattofak: I have successfully used both a VLK and a SUK for a bog standard off the shelf WinXP cd... I'll call your bluff on that one...
  7. There's a registry setting for this... Want to stop a folder from showing up? Create a hidden file with no extension that uses the folder name you want to kill off. Since Windows won't allow you to have a File by the name of My Music and a folder by the same name you won't have to worry about it ever comming back.
  8. This might work for you.... for /f "tokens=1 delims= " %i IN ('dir ^| find "File(s)"') DO Echo %i
  9. I took 4 years of Spanish in school... so I hate to tell you but a couple quick lessons aren't going to teach you very much. I certainly wish you the best of luck, but using a translator isn't the way.
  10. Yeah, the show this weekend is... 3 Doors Down Sum 41 Breaking Benjamin 30 Seconds to Mars Alterbridge (Creed minus lead singer) Skindred Unwritten Law No Address Exies Tickets: $25.00 I have only been in Jax for a year now... I love it here. I'm never leaving... unless I move further south.
  11. PHP compiles on the server side so the external CSS file is included in the page when compiled server side. It works this same way with every CSS file.
  12. Well, it's probably one of the most secure ways you could offer those kind of services. TSWEB does not require you to connect VIA VPN first... although you can pretty much set it up any way you want. Small Business Server offers a Workplace logon for users which is accessible from the net (if you turn it on) It lets you connect to the domain, login to computers, check e-mail through exchange web, and do just about anything.
  13. I have to say my favorites are: Track 1: All The Love In The World Track 6: Everyday Is Exactly The Same Track 13: Right Where It Belongs @InTheWayBoy: sounds like we have similar taste... What's your favorite NIN song of all time? I would have to say mine is "Something I Can Never Have." I also love "The Great Below" and "And All That Could Have Been" Just noticed you are from Jacksonville FL! Same here! I live near NAS Going to the show on Sunday? I heard 30 Seconds to Mars is going to be there too... I really want to see them above all. Later! EDIT: In case you all didn't notice the link in the first post... here it is. http://www.myspace.com/ninofficial That's a link to the whole CD. (provided by Nine Inch Nails)
  14. It's been posted a million times before.. try doing a search.
  15. IEXPRESS will create simple EXEs. Open your RUN box and type in IEXPRESS.exe It's built into windows.
  16. I found half of my daughter's teddy bear collection in my PC last time I opened my computer up. As well as CDs I hadn't seen for months and a bunch of other things...
  17. I can only imagine if you have over 150 servers that you have quite a few employees. Windows Small Business Server only allows for 75 users so that wouldn't work for you.
  18. I would strongly recommend AGAINST VNC on a server. That's bad news... The terminal services web interface does not give him more than the 2 licenses that are included, so that's probably not going to work for his purposes. I would really recommend you set up VPN. You can setup your server to accept VPN clients by selecting Server Management and select the TO DO LIST and "Configure Remote Access." Then just simply setup an account for him to use and have him connect from his PC. If you are a little more specific as to what apps you want him to be able to run and such then maybe I can help you out a little more.
  19. Parallel Port: It's system standard still... You can't get rid of it yet. Businesses still use it very much. Onboard Video: You must be looking at lowend boards if this is all you can find. It's a nice built in feature for value PCs. Onboard Audio: Most of you probably don't have sound systems that you could tell the difference on. Floppy Drive Controller: I agree that it should be gotten rid of. Dell has actually made this move about a year ago with some of their systems.
  20. I liked the first... I'll go see it.
  21. I see one problem right off... you can't have spaces in URLs. A space is equivalent to %20 so you should have U%20Make%20Me%20Wanna.mp3and so forth
  22. If you wish to remove so many letter then yes... if you wish to remove certain letters, no... well, not easily. Please elaborate more. You set a variable with the information you want to work with... Then you can use the following: %variable:~3% %variable:~5,6% %variable:~2,-7% %variable:~-10,3% %variable:~-15,-6% First one will remove the first 3 characters Second one will remove the first 5 characters and only display the next 6 characters Third one will remove the first 2 characters and display everything but the last 7 characters Forth one will be the last 10 characters but only display the first 3 characters of that set Fifth one will be the last 15 characters but only display the last 6 characters of that set (kinda worthless, but works nonetheless...)
  23. Well, here's the EULA... http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/eula.mspx It USED to allow that, but I can't find the clause anymore.. :-/ You might contact Microsoft to find out.
  24. There is a clause in Windows XP Pro that does allow you to install it on a laptop if the PC you use is only for you and the laptop is too. When it comes time to enter the license key for the laptop you simply need only use the phone option to activate it and notify them that you are installing it on your personal laptop and you already have it on your personal PC. You can check your EULA and find the information.
