Well, you can't justify using a corporate version of XP Pro when you purchased XP Home. There are ways to put your activation files on your CD so you have no excuse. It doesn't upset me so much that people do pirate software... becuase let's face it, no everyone can afford to buy everything, but it does upset me when someone attempts to justify that it's right because they couldn't afford it. The next time you complain about cost then figure out how much the product costs and then how much you use it and then divide cost by use and you will get your cost per use for that software. If you use it so infrequently that it's not cost affective then I guarantee you can find a replacement. For Photoshop why not try Paint.net (I think that's what it's called) Also for the one who said he's a student and can't afford to buy a $60 game. You have access to low cost software through your school so your cost for Windows, Office and just about anything else is next to nothing. I have no simpathy for you unable to purchase a game. Do you work? Oh, and the article you posted... it sounds like a 16 year old wrote it.

There's no question that things will change before launch... but what I have to say is that if Sony has that extra 6 months to launch and does not top the XBox then that will just be a shame. Only time will tell.

JasonGW, I will not argue with you about your points about Microsoft... however I believe you are a little off with your comments about Sony.

OK, let's not forget that Microsoft XBox hit a year after PS2... You really can't compare the two... they have a year of technology difference. So, Sony announced it at E3 to "derail" XBox, then Microsoft comes back and announces that Halo3 will be released the same day as PS3. It's a big game... I have personally owned my PS2 since the months after it was released. I have had it since and not had any problems. I however know that my friend has replaced his XBox 3 times... So, for as many stories as someone else might have, someone else has the opposite. I know 5 people with the PSP and not one has had a problem with it either.

Well, it will be a beautiful battle, don't you think? Bill Gates is quoted as saying that he will be releasing Halo 3 on the day that the PS3 comes out. Now, from the PS2 we know that Sony sometimes backs down from their original specs... but it's nice to dream, right? And it's possible that Microsoft might pull together and push to get some other technologies into their system since they now can speculate what their competition is going to be offering. It will be cool to see what the end result is... I can't wait.

I don't need to prove anything to you. I could care less if you believe me. I am 26 and have accomplished more than most people twice my age. I enjoy what I do. My posts all over the internet prove my knowledge. Want to know where my arrogance comes from? It comes from dealing with people like you. You take an obvious landslide and try to some how prove your point. It's all in the numbers. Also, You can rave about the XBox/PS2 war, but always remember the XBox had a full year of technology thrown into it after the PS2 was selling millions.

Questioning my knowledge of computer hardware? I live in a Microsoft world... "PowerPC" to me means Macintosh's attempt to create a PC that would dual boot their OS and Microsoft's. I will be honest and tell you that I know NOTHING about Macintrash. I don't need to know anything about them. I do however know that the "cell" processor technology that Playstation is using is completely different than anything else out there. While Macintosh may have something similar it's not the same. The important part of this... BlueTooth. And my PS2 has a wireless controller... big deal. This is built in. No add on plug in parts that have to sit on your TV stand. You think that Nintendo's technology can be played on anything else? Who cares... It gives Sony the ability to place multiple DVD games onto one DVD. While it might offer the ability to use flash USB sticks, I see no information showing you can use SD, MemoryStick(Sony) or FlashCard like the PS3 will. It may not... but we will see... Based off of? Maybe... Different... Definately! You must have read something wrong... I never said any of that.OOOOO don't forget to run out and buy one of those snap on faces for your shiny new XBox... your kidding, right? Maybe you didn't check out the specs side by side... Playstation has Bluetooth wireless controllers, allowing up to 7, XBox allows for 4 and they aren't Bluetooth. Playstation has a Bluetooth wireless headset, Xbox does not. Playstation uses Blu-Ray DVD technology, XBox is Dual Layer DVD. Playstation has Flash Memory Card support, XBox does not. Playstation has 256MB RAM running at 3.2Ghz and another 256 running at 700Hhz, XBox has 512MB at 700Mhz. Playstation uses the much hyped Cell processor which is 7 processors in one, XBox appears to have "Three symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each " Also, by PowerPC, do you mean Mac? I can't imagine you do because Microsoft (hello!?!) would not use a Mac OS to run their box.

OK, I'm gonna close this one out... But, I like to get in the last word, so I am gonna do just that. This thread was never 98 vs. XP If you were one of the few to actually read the whole thread you will see my only problem with the things that were being said is that they were lies and misconceptions. If you are content with Windows 98 then by all means keep using it. If it does everything you need it to then that's great. I do, for your sake, hope that you spend some time getting to know XP or Linux because Windows 98 can't go on forever. It will join Windows 95 and Windows 3 as well. One day Windows XP will find it's self in the OS graveyard as well. Do you think manufacturers are going to continue to make their software compatable with Windows 98? What will you do when your favorite program goes away? I like to be on the forefront of technology. I own the newest of everything I can get my hands on. I dread the day my daughters are able to show me something that I didn't know. For those of you who say "I'm not going to make computers my career..." I have news for you. It's everyone's career. I won't hire someone who can't type and doesn't have basic knowledge of the systems they are required to use every day. I wish all of you Windows 98 users the best of luck. I don't want it to do anything... if you want to know what XP does that Windows 98 does not... read all 43 pages of the thread I have explained it many, many times. I do... why? Because for one, IE auto authenticates using windows logon information. No other browser does. Also, surely you have seen the news lately with all the vulnerabilites in FF and all of the patches. For all of you Windows 98 lovers: stay with Windows 98... I could care less. I just don't want to hear you complain 2 years from now "xyz program won't isntall on Windows 98... boo hoo hoo"
