  1. ...and DUH!!! Just installing the "suite" doesn't give you the FILE you want! Read further the links(s) I gave. It (they) SPECIFICALLY SAY you need to go to "such-and-such" folder and double click the CORRECT "(whatever).MSI" file to INSTALL the stuff! As bphlpt said That means READ THEM! You "assume" too much, i.e. "I installed and it's not there". Ah, but the SECONDARY MSI INSTALLER IS (where the PROGRAMS are). The "package" you installed is all-inclusive for an Administrator to work with MANY OS' and it would be just DUMB to install unneeded components!
  2. Same as OAKCDROM.SYS. GOOOOOGLE! "gcdrom.sys"Easy-peasy!
  3. Different Mobo/Chipset? Bet that one's an Intel board.... Even an older BIOS (ATA66/100). The Giga you have is (bet ya) ATA-133 capable.
  4. Yes, you are, on a nearly three year old topic.
  5. What exactly did you EXPECT to see in "Advanced"?
  6. AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN! That's a SATA DVD. It's ALL SATA! Your Specs - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c02675196#N87 Your Motherboard - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01701270#N387 Four SATA Connectors and One Floppy Connector. SATA is problematic for you unless you get ($$$) rloew's SATA patch. The RAM (4GB) is also problematic unless you get ($$$) rloew's RAM patch. Your HDD (1 TB) is also problematic unless you get a 48-bit LBA patch from (guess who?). As for the "CD-ROM Not Found" it probably takes a VERY SPECIALIZED driver to access it in a DOS-like environment. As an example, the same thing happens on my Dell E521 without the Driver that THEY provided (within the Diagnostics DVD). USUALLY SATA DVD's run in PATA mode but you STILL need the correct Driver. Since it came with Windows7, chances of finding it are rather slim. Win 98 has limitations. You should browse around the Win9x/ME Subforum and peruse the Sticky Topics (right at the beginning), in particular the "Stickified" topic. Look inside it for MORE topics that address EXACTLY what you want to do. Edit - "Chipset - NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430" - what I have and no I CAN'T provide my Floppy that DOES access the DVD because it's Proprietary (read our MSFN Rules - link at top). Too bad, because it would PROBABLY work. At least to access the DVD, after that you're kaput anyway... Edit2 - Besides, you CAN'T load Win9x on another partition AFTER Win7 has been installed. If you REALLY want Win9x, just use Virtual PC or another VM and run it as a "guest OS". I wouldn't take a chance on screwing up my PreInstalled OS unless I was ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that I could successfully restore it. Edit 3 - and you've asked the same question two other forums (EXACT wording) and got (kind of) the same reply on one of them. Again, AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN, trucker!
  7. No, the actual BIOS is Award. In a Hex Editor, you will see in the BIOS file "7VM400M.BIN" which is typical naming convention for Award. However, apparently Gigabyte is using the AMI flasher PROVIDED to flash it (maybe a modified one)? It's CLEARLY an Award. I USED to have a 7VM400M-RZ (Award Bios v6), flashed it, and STILL had an Award BIOS (v6). And guess what? It used the SAME FLASH PROGRAM you have and the BIOS Filename was "7VM4MRZ.F5". Had a Sempron in it. http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket%20462%20%28Socket%20A%29.html Your manual states (btw - a misspelling found - actually say "widden" instead of "hidden") Mine said the same thing. It ALSO says Have you downloaded the Manual and looked at the BIOS options? What sort of "tons of BIOS options" were you expecting? Just because its "custom built" it doesn't mean the BIOS is anything other than the Vendor supplies. You will NOT be able to You can change your RAM settings. The purpose of RAM change allows for Mixed Speed RAM - I had to put the Higher speed in first, force it slower, then insert the Slower speed to get it to accept both properly.Better check what "custom built" REALLY means (HARDWARE only). In order to have BEYOND what the Vendor gives in a BIOS you have to do some SERIOUS HACKING. There is absolutely NOTHING WRONG with using that Flash Program. You will get what you get in the way of BIOS Setup Selections (get that manual). I would SUGGEST getting a Binary Backup of you BIOS for "insurance" (see my post above), even though YOUR BIOS is still on the website. HTH and happy Flashing! edit - corrected misstatement about RAM with an explanation.
  8. Yep, that's the F3 BIOS (I downloaded it and the F9). Post #9 http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-BIOS-help Version F3 uses FLASH867 (May 2, 2003) while F9 uses FLASH879 (Dec 30, 2003). Incase you decide to "remove" the AUTOEXEC.BAT and enter the Flashing manually.
  9. Rev-1 vs Rev-2? What does your MoBo SPECIFICALLY say on the board? edit - Current version F3 implies Rev-1...
  10. JoinDomain is wrong unless you are actually JOINING TO A DOMAIN SERVER! Are you? Did you MISS that in the DOC??? What's your intent? to cause it to FORCE it to allow adding New Users? As far as the DOC, even that Atlantis software probably has a way to change the View. It does the SAME THING in Word until you change it. Why the heck don't you start with what I gave and add to it accordingly? WHY are you going an entirely different route? WHY are you bothering us if you refuse to "listen"? I TOLD you to read the DOC in the first place, didn't I? And as far as REF.CHM, YOU HAVE THAT TOO inside of you XP-SP1a, DON'T YOU???? Dude, you're on your own from here on out.
  11. ONE-MORE-TIME!!!! Your question has been..... ANSWERED! re - AntiWGA (maybe, maybe not) What do you MEAN by this? Other than AntiWGA, there's absolutely NO reason not to use SP3!
  12. Well, it MIGHT help if you say WHAT the"old" MoBo was and what the "new" MoBo is. It DOES seem "odd" that you have the BACKUP OS going but not the PRIMARY OS.
  13. He$$ NO, they didn't try it, no more than the ARGUING and IGNORING that was done HERE! "Doesn't work" and "I did it different because I didn't want what you gave but I only asked for and now such-and-such doesn't work" and so on and so on... And WTH do you MEAN by Mine works fine. Googling this"windows xp" hosts file not workingfor an inkling of what you mean. OHHHH! I mean AHAHHH! Google "windows xp" hosts block WGAYou mean the "AntiWGA" MS BLOCKING "technique"! What, you have a BOGUS XP, i.e. Volume version using Blacklisted Key/Keygen? And the SP2 changed all of that? Gotcha! Caps, you're biting off more than you can chew. Indeed, you're biting on the WRONG THINGS after being SPECIFICALLY told what to bite on!
  14. Nonetheless, even PI is inaccurate and never WILL be totally "digitally" accurate. It's already been proven.
  15. ...and inside that is the link just given ("follow the yellow brick road"). But, Thx, allen2 for ensuring the OP didn't miss that due to NOT reading. (Sigh, so many don't, either...)
  16. WTF dude? That link clearly gives ANOTHER link that then gives ANOTHER link to the SDK. AND that LAST link clearly states that you can go to ANOTHER link to get the COMPLETE ISO -OR- use the Download to SELECTIVELY download what you want! http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8279 HERE is how you "select" what you want - http://www.drdobbs.com/windows/xperf-and-the-windows-performance-toolki/227001079 Inside that is a reference to an (apparently) older version - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3138 The process of GETTING it should be the same (v7 versus v7.1). A smattering of info on usage - http://windowsitpro.com/systems-management/examining-xperf P.S. more info about it - http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wptk_v4/thread/906cdf7a-d093-4895-b000-8eab63ee79ab LIMITED functionality. NO WAY will anyone give you something you can get yourself, ESPECIALLY Microsoft Software. Then it becomes... WAREZ! Did you even TRY that?BTW, what makes you think that XPERF is going to help your analysis? Don't care to actually troubleshoot by TRYING to disable some actively running programs to see who the CULPRIT is?
  17. Do you have MORE THAN ONE antivirus running? BIG NO-NO!!! Thrashing may very well occur because one is checking the other constantly. Try disabling those "updaters" and see what happens.
  18. How very strange - From MS - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283256 That is where the OP got the "SP2" info and CLAIMS "Build 3396" (dated 2000) but the Download Link given (same as the OP) is "Build 3399" (dated 2004). They are not the same! I have located the one that ORIGINALLY was listed on "Yahoo" (a "downloader" that you use and "Decline" stupid stuff), believe it or not. Is there some discrepancy here? I have NO clue why the Original Link given says "a standalone version is available". No mention of Build 3399 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260716 Some "info" (a Readme text) - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/241159 However, as others have shown, it installs fine. (scratches head...) edit (followup) - Version Determination - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/202592 Netmeeting needs installed FIRST from the OS? Security Bulletin - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/ms04-011?altTemplate=SecurityBulletinPF
  19. DJGPP "DOS GREP" you provided is new version. I didn't bother going further than what I gave just to satisfy the OP. It's clear that "Delorie" is the author of the Port I provided. Within the link is - http://www.resoo.org/docs/dos/free_software/progrmg.htm#djgpp So, now the OP has many options.
  20. OH GAWD! Good thing I bet $0.00...
  21. First post NOW you "claim" I was WRONG because YOU changed something (i.e. ADDED more "requirements"/"parameters")! The link I provided to the Screenshots is "dead" but I have all of them captured (didn't want to do ANOTHER install and snap them myself). I REPEAT, read the UNATTEND.DOC and you will SEE EVERY PARAMETER AND VALUE!!!! Might I point out the VALUE you so blithely ignored (and removed), Following portions from the Document (actual File CANNOT be attached, uploaded, etc. due to the Copyright statement on cover page) - RIGHT! Because you did NOT use what I gave - (see above) Because you ADDED "OemSkipEula=Yes". With MY file, it WILL do EXACTLY what I said (YOU only wanted ProductID "nothing more"). re - "OemPreinstall=Yes" Nope!I tried my BASIC one that I gave and ran it and it IGNORED the "ProductID=". YOU are using the "DefaultHide" (YOU only wanted ProductID "nothing more") re - REF.CHM 1 - jaclaz gave you an alternative.2 - I CLEARLY stated that the FULL INFO is in the UNATTEND.DOC inside the DEPLOY.CAB (which you APPARENTLY don't have). re - Quotes No clue - the Sample I gave that works EXACTLY LIKE I SAID IT WOULD was generated (and modified by me) via SETUPMGR.EXE inside the DEPLOY.CAB (which you APPARENTLY don't have). Now for your NETWORKING "problem". You INSISTED on leaving out the "UnattendMode". REREAD the first quotes from the MS DOC I gave.As for "WaitForReboot=No" - it DOES NOT EXIST for Windows2000 and you would KNOW that if you read the UNATTEND.DOC inside the DEPLOY.CAB (which you APPARENTLY don't have). Finally, from the SAME DOCUMENT - YOU look up "FullUnattended" in YOUR copy of the UNATTEND.DOC inside the DEPLOY.CAB (which you APPARENTLY don't have). You APPARENTLY want certain values Automatically filled and other values Filled At Install Time. You are STILL doing it wrong! DEPLOY.CAB is currently M.I.A on MS Website. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/820196 Clicking the Link takes you to TechNet. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh534433.aspx Lucky you, it's still on the MS Server - go here and click the Download Link - http://www.petri.co.il/download_w2k_sp4_deploy_tools.htm Now DOWNLOAD it and READ the stuff and don't bother with "don't work" without some kind of proof, ESPECIALLY, don't claim "wrong" when it's CLEARLY been proven to be RIGHT! Please note I have REPEATED a number of phrases to get the point across, e.g. (YOU only wanted ProductID "nothing more"). I wasted HOURS loading/testing to get EXACTLY what you asked for! 'Nuff Said! edit - YOU GOT YOUR SETUPAPI ANSWER in that OTHER thread! Quit wasting our time.
  22. Here ya go to keep it even MORE together, seeing as how Caps mentioned WINNT.SIF I am working on providing a WONDERFUL response to your assertions over there. You just LOVE to argue, don't you? (O-god, another one!)
  23. You know I support you in spirit, Kel. I, like you, am also a po-boy, otherwise... You have several financial supporters so keep on chuggin', my friend. P.S. And thanks for that "special" WPI for a now-defunct Win98SE project (you know which one "thread deleted").
  24. (huh-bo-ee...) Per the Wiki (WIKI-WIKI????) link You ARE aware that Wiki is a "user-contributed" information source (maybe NOT so trustworthy for ACCURATE information). That same Wiki does NOT state WHAT "backup software" doe the "reset archive bit". I wouldn't trust that so much if I were you as there have been many a "technical article" there that have been erroneous.I like jaclaz' links - they're funny and sometimes informative, especially when they're intended to be! Yes, softwareS. Some folks use that to denote that usage for "plural". See this (start at post#5) - http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=231221 Have you ever used CPUID (note the text)? http://www.cpuid.com/softwares.html Seriously, you have a slight insulting nature yourself. (Yes, had straight A's in all English-oriented classes.) I suppose if you really wanted to then a solution to fit your needs could be "collaboratively developed" from tools and softwares on hand. After all, you're an Ex-programmer as well (did I mention that you've been communicating with a couple?)...
