  1. Chipset Drivers BEFORE Video Drivers... Installing Chipset Drivers FIRST is S.O.P. for any PC/Any brand/any Chipset... Have you tried that?
  2. ...and finally (to attempt to polish off this "who's better than who" nonsense... jaclaz and I have also had a "go" before and it actually means... NOTHING!!! We have the highest respect for each other. BTW, I know more MAINFRAME languages than you, but it does NOT mean I may know more HARDWARE than you, nor does it mean I am BETTER at said languages than you. There is something called SHARING INFO - be aware that SOME of it may be erroneous (as you found out) on either end. In view of that, just let it go and pay more attention to the information and the phrasing (don't be touchy)... P.S. VM is "kind of" a misnomer in general context - you mean it as "Virtual Memory", I use it as "Virtual Machine". I've always referenced it as Paging File, since this term is also applicable to Mainframes (ye olde IBM monsters). Also, one may have (erroneously) "assumed" since you're not a "n00b' that you would have known about the Explorer settings... Welcome to our world. edit - hi-lited a key point... edit2 - clarification - LOGICALLY, the Page File can't "exist" on a Device that won't exist until defined (USB drivers loaded)... true? Hence the "filters"...
  3. Hate to tell you this, but the link given has absolutely no relationship to 2000/XP/2003, only Vista/Win7. There's absolutely no problem with those and have been using all three repeatedly and the method I give absolutely works. That's why I provided it for this topic as well. edit - forgot to mention - you misunderstood the links "workgroup-name" - it DID mean "that-computers-name-in-workgroup" NOT the ACTUAL workgroup name.
  4. No... IsoBuster has multiple functions, INCLUDING viewing to see IF you have more than one Session.
  5. 1 - I have TWC Roadrunner Surfboard Cable Modem in the CITY of Dayton, OH 2 - WINIPCFG is a good place to start (see #5 below...) 3 - Yes, the Settings for TCP/IP (isn't that what I was saying?) 4 - "IPCONFIG /ALL > IPCONFIG.TXT" and attach it 5 - Otherwise, this is going absolutely nowhere
  6. Why change it? Using a router and have a second NIC installed (for local PC's/extra router) OR trying to "jive in" a VM NIC? Please explain your rationale and connections and there may be some assistance forthcoming.
  7. I now have WinXP 64bit and I will install Win7 Really? JFYI - Vista drivers ARE (generally) compatible with Windows7. To get the VEN/DEV info - Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools-System Information Now click on "Components" in the left pane Now click on (at top) File->Export->(pick a folder and give it a name) Now ZIP it and upload to here so we can help you find them.
  8. ??? Does WINIPCFG give information on your Cable-provided IP? Something sounds fishy here... edit - alternative firefox archive (direct ftp)
  9. FYI
  10. How much can anyone bet that this topic by the OP is directly related? One must "assume" that the OP is still intending an "upgrade" to Vista/7/8 x64 and can't stick to a single Topic...
  11. 99.44% are already archived (see tomasz86) however getting them doesn't retain original date.timestamp. I'm collecting links to maybe put up something similar to -X- for XP updates. Bear in mind that HFBR aren't included (as you can see).
  12. Here I indicate that WUAv256/257 appears to work. As for IE6, the download link you provide is OK, BUT these are NEWER and apply some updates. ie6oem.exe <-I have the latest - link does not; don't remember where got ie6setup.exe IECIF.CAB IEW2K_1.CAB IEW2K_4.CAB VGX.CABfrom here (see this). See your other topic - tomasz86' USP5.2 in progress... Also see this re WUA and Root Certs (seemingly OT). Also please note tomasz86 provides a list that maybe needs matched to yours? In addition, here is tomasz86 "Unofficial" UUROLLUP topic (with link to Rollup 2). Guide so far so good. (What's the purpose of Winzip when you've got 7-Zip?)
  13. ??? Unofficial SP5.2 (in process) in this subforum. tomasz86 also provides some links and recommendations for the meanwhile. To cross-post to your guide. An FYI... I didn't do what you did in your guide. I did what I stated above, including the WUAv2.56/v2.57 (read the thread) - you have to use "/wuforce" to install it.
  14. If possible, that would be in the BIOS. Some PC's don't have that BIOS option, some (most newer?) do. Onboard video usually "steals" "main" RAM for its use thus reducing usable "main" RAM. Check the documentation (you never specified any more than MEDION which tells little) if you have it, otherwise get it.
  15. 1 - Win2kSP4 2 - Update Rollup 1 v2 3 - IE6SP1 (latest, including the 3 newer CABS) 4 - ROOTSUPD 5 - BITS 2.0 6 - Installer 3.1 7 - Windows Update Agent Not sure if the order #3->#7 are important. I got 92 Updates (?) and 6 Optionals. I'll also retest the scenario tomorrow. The Boss ordered be to shut down.
  16. Well, it APPEARS that the main problem lies in the fact that you allowed WU to install v257. You got "stuck" with an install. Additionally, you might take note of the whole thread link given in that you do NOT want to install and/or "Enable"AU since this (apparently) "pushes" v257 anyway (somehow - would need to re-read the Topic). I'm not really sure of the "Automatic Update (AU)" thingy right now (on Win2k). Try reinstalling Win2k w/SP4, manually upgrade to IE6SP1, then manually install the "BAT-generated" WU EXE file, ensure that "AU" (if installed??? see "not really sure" above) is "disabled", thus bypassing all of WU's "unintentional" breakage. I'm not really sure WHY you would install WUAv2 since what the BAT creates is WAUv3 (which SHOULD work). Can't tell you much more than that until I test this scenario. edit - More on "0x800A0046" here and here.
  17. It's ok, Kel... Error corrected. +1 back at ya!
  18. If you install and find the VEN_DEV string, post it here and we'll assist in finding it. FWIW, here may be what you can use... [Realtek] %ALCVIA_DEV3058.DeviceDesc%=ALCVIA, PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3058 %ALCVIA_DEV3059.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3059 %ALCICH.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2415 %ALCICH.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2445 %ALCICH.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24C5 %ALCICH.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2425 %ALCICH.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7195 %ALCSIS.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7012 %ALCVIA_DEV3058.DeviceDesc%=ALCVIA, PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3058&CC_0401 %ALCVIA_DEV3059.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3059&CC_0401 %ALCICH.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2415&CC_0401 %ALCICH.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2445&CC_0401 %ALCICH.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24C5&CC_0401 %ALCICH.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2425&CC_0401 %ALCICH.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7195&CC_0401 %ALCSIS.DeviceDesc%=ALCAUD, PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7012&CC_0401 %ALCAUD_SB.DeviceDesc%=ALCSB, VIRTUAL\ALC_SBEmulation edit - Can I assume you got your driver from here? (latest version)
  19. It will be a VXD (Win95) and not a WDM (Win98 and up). It will depend on the Ven_Dev value that is detected. In Win95 it should show up as "unknown" in Device Manager after Initial Win95 Install and the actual values can be found in the Registry. 1 - In MS-DOS Prompt - Regedit 2 - go to Hkey_Local_Machine\Enum and under that either ISAPNP or PCI there should be maybe an "unknown"? We need that VEN_DEV value to get the correct driver.
  20. So, did you use the "special" Realtek AC97 driver?(from v2.2 Guide p125) (p77) edit - I find that the v6 User's Guide doesn't include that information. To be honest, I'm not sure that anyone here uses Parallels since mostly we use "free" VM's. I guess I should ask - which Drivers (from where) did you use?
  21. Could you tell us what the SoundCard/Chip is? Realtek, Creative, etc and the type/model?
  22. Right on the front page of the Forum Board a little down is "Shared Links"/"Most" and the one at the very top is "Unlimited Number Of Drivers" topic, second post by Bashrat has in his Signature a link to DriverPacks Forum. At the top of that is the main DriverPacks link which gives the Downloads link. Now for the AHCI stuff... Right here is the nLite subforum with Intel and nVidia topics, the FAQ Kel gave the link to (which includes RyanVM Add-On links, -X-'s Updates, the WMP11 Integrator that is in the topic you pointed to, etc. etc.), and a complete nLite Reference Guide. On the Forum Board page (again) below the nLite subforum link (where this Topic is, BTW) is "jcarle's Windows Updates Downloader" and Kel's WPI (Windows Post-Install Wizard, used for selectively adding almost anything you wish to add after installation). In fact, the links in the Topic you linked to includes many members that also frequent the MSFN Forum and post links to their own (or others) packages, including WinCert. We are all very aware of OnePiece as well and the fact that the poster of that Update Pack is "nonno fabio" who is also a member here AND the link to RyanVM INCLUDES that very self-same Update Package (bet you didn't look, did you?). There IS no all-encompassing "guide"/"checklist" as it depends on the needs of a given member's OS and Software, hence the "breakdown" of the subforums here. Use one or more softwares and methods as you wish and when you get "stuck" simply request assistance in the appropriate subforum and one or more "experts" will assist you. Example: "I have such-and-such OS and I want to integrate yada-yada. How do I go about that? I have read the Stickies and some of the Topics and am a bit confused." Note that the above is WAY too generic and will prompt members to ask for more specific information such as Hardware, OS Version, etc etc. Your "so-called better guide" sticky is already here - see nLite and OTHER subforums and stickies - they ARE already there. See FAQ as was given... I suppose some OTHER external links could be given in it (or at least mentioned) BUT... here at MSFN we are NOT allowed to link to what MIGHT be considered warez/non-distributable hence the MS/Other Software DIRECT LINKS being used rather that "pre-downloaded and stored elsewhere" or built directly from the Vendors' (e.g. MS, Adobe, etc.) as is the case of -X-'s list/downloads and jcarle's WUD. Right there in the Forum Rules, you see... Again, no offense, but (nearly) EVERYTHING you need is right here. Addendum - Mentioning for your information "Siginet Forum" and "Reboot Forum" as also well-known here and linked to in many a Topic on MSFN. You/your topic are NOT being "bashed" just being educated. Your Request Is Already Fulfilled. edit - and granted the "Search" leaves a lot to be desired but if you use Google (instead) just add site:www.msfn.org to your search to help find topics/posts easier. edit2 - FYI the DriverPacks can be un-7zipped and the individual driver contents used directly in nLite.
  23. ? I have Full Retail (label ZRMPFPP_EN) 368mb, all files/folders dated 06/20/2003. I386 folder is exactly 312,404,432 bytes. Is yours an OEM install? Did you get/try this package? I find it mighty strange that you're getting that error. These are "basically" the "official" ones.
  24. No offense, but that's a bit dated... Everyone here knows about the DriverPacks and -X- (among others) has a much better method of keeping XP up-to-date. I wouldn't necessarily call that a "guide" either. Try the SEARCH (the "gear" in the upper-right) to see what I mean. OR browse the associated forums. LOTS of "stickies" for just that. Thx, anyway.
  25. Look over here. The complete package is still available. Get any updates as necessary.
