  1. In the power saving options you should have an option to select fast startup: Now Windows should use the new boot.
  2. so you have NDIS and nvlddmkm.sys issues. The NDIs issue seems to be caused by WinRAR. What are you doing with WinRAR? Can you run msinfo32.exe and look if the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti shars the same IRQ like the network card?
  3. yes, send me the xperf generated ETL file.
  4. you must activate hibernation (powercfg -h on) to see the "fast Startup" option in the power settings.
  5. boot is terrible broken. The prefetcher doesn't work as it should and your DISK is busy all the time: What I can see is that the NOD32 service takes some CPU time and this causes the slow WinLogonInit phase: So you should also run the boot optimization I've explained here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=140262 but it is better to sue the new Hybrid Boot / fast Startup feature of Windows 8: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=152937
  6. give me the ETL file and I'll take a look. Zip it first before uploading.
  7. First, update the WPT. I've replaced the links with the Win8 version and if this doesn't help, try the suggestions from here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/wptk_v4/thread/b88aa183-d3ee-4cd1-92d6-e466c07e1a2f
  8. Happy belated birthday Tihiy
  9. hmm, for me it didn't work without removing the old Flash. Ok, I'll update the guide and remove the 1st part.
  10. make a xperf trace and share it (zip it fist to reduce the size).
  11. I've also found this last year when playing with the Remove flag. The command is now shown in the CBs.log. There is also an async version of it.
  12. Microsoft has now released an security update for flash to fix the issue: Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 8 (KB2755399) http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34745 Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 8 for x64-based systems (KB2755399) http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34743 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2755399/en-us
  13. ah, ok. thanks for the explanation.
  14. What is the purpose of the package winpe-str.cab?
  15. ah, good point! I'm now using Vmware player 5 and no longer virtualbox. And VMware seems to emulate touch in the VM.
  16. Have you installed the Win8 ADK, .Net Framework 4.5 and Powershell 3.0?
  17. @Tihiy do you know why the "show desktop" button is now larger? In former patches it has the same size like in Windows 7.
  18. hmm, ok, this explains my blackscreen when I tried the same. There must be an easier way. The Win8 RTM files still check if glass is allowed to be enabled. The RTM files (uDMW.dll) have a function called AdjustWindowColorization which sets the opaque color (s_clrDefaultInactiveWindowBaseColor this seams to be the gray and s_clrDefaultActiveWindowBaseColor for the new forground color), which the RP also has this function but doesn't use those values ...
  19. For VS2012 we can now customize the Colors :thumbup Visual Studio 2012 Color Theme Editor http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/366ad100-0003-4c9a-81a8-337d4e7ace05 F*ck you bastards in VS Design Team !!! Now we need the colored icons back and I'm happy
  20. now you use the hybrid boot and it is amazing fast: resume and go to the UI takes 7s and the Windows is fully running in 9s!
  21. This doesn't for for normal/standard users Try to find out why it only runs with admin rights in Win7. The Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) is what you need to detect what's wrong with the app.
  22. you've still used the traditional boot which is ok: - <timing bootDoneViaExplorer="23828" bootDoneViaPostBoot="37928" 23s to the UI and 28s to be fully booted.
  23. You can make a rightclick in the CMD and select paste to insert text.
  24. the boot is fine. 20s to metro or desktop and 30s until everything is loaded. Activate hibernation again and make a trace of the hybrid boot.
