why download one by one? Let Windows Update install them for you. Update Packs are only useful if you want to install the updates to several machines and you have limited internet connection.

Simply use Windows Update to get all required updates. Some of the update packs contain hotfixes which should be only installed if you have the specific issue.

which motherboard do you use? Does it support Memory remapping? is this enabled in the BIOS? Have you used MSconfig to limit the max usable RAM? -

Yes, this is so annoying. An epileptic can't install Windows 8. The box should include a warning about this crap! You can use DISM.exe to install NetFx3 offline with the help of the ISO.

Go to C:\Windows and apply the currently permissions to all subfolder so that the folder C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET gets the correct inherited permissions from C:\Windows
