  1. I can see this, too: It takes 160s to reconnect the network drive. you can try it. not really.Open regedit.exe, go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender" and set the value DisableAntiSpyware to 1. Can these be speeded up? I don't use any network drives, so could these be disabled? you can disable both if you don't need them. Windows includes the advanced config UI. Look at the admin options in control panel.
  2. normally F2 oder DEL keys let you go to the BIOS. I've also disabled it. But make a full system backup to be safe.
  3. try a different cable. Maybe yours has too many kinks
  4. I think it also makes no sense to use the DP now.
  5. WinlogonInit is slow and takes 169s: <interval name="WinlogonInit" startTime="15547" endTime="184496" duration="168948"> But I need the ETL file to see the cause.
  6. unintsall the HDD in device manager and reboot, let Windows reinstall the drivers and check the DMA status again.
  7. this is not possible. You must use the Win7 Explorer:
  8. the new trace shows again the "High Precision Event Timer" issue:
  9. you have to crack the files (like the Uxtheme DLLs to get 3rd pary themes working).
  10. Most of the time I drag the links so I never had any issues.
  11. the layout of the metro apps is stored in a file called appsFolder.itemdata-ms in C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows
  12. filter the events for duration. include only operation with a duration larger 0.5 seconds.
  13. click the link I gave you and choose USA.
  14. yes, black is not good. But the "Apowersoft_AudioDevice" still starts slowly. Can you update this driver? And what I can see is that WindwosDender service task 33s to stop: <serviceTransition name="WinDefend" group="COM Infrastructure" transition="stop" totalTransitionTimeDelta="33426" And the services "File sharing" and LanmanWorkstation which provies funtions to map network drives also start slowly: <serviceTransition name="LanmanWorkstation" group="NetworkProvider" transition="start" totalTransitionTimeDelta="6188"/> <serviceTransition name="LanmanServer" group="NetworkProvider" transition="start" totalTransitionTimeDelta="15160" Also VistaFirewallService starts slowly. Why don't you use the Windows Firewall? Also why do you run tools like \SUPERAntiSpyware if you already use a AntiVirus tool?
  15. @JorgeA no, all hacks still work. MS only doesn't allow the CLient editions to skip Metro. The Sever (without Desktop Experience role) skips Metro. If you install Desktop Experience role you have a GPO to also skip Metro. And mS doesn't allow this on Client Editions. There is a function in 2 DLLs which first check if the Windows is a server and only if the Windows is a server the GPO is used.
  16. I always use "Free Download Manager" Great tool
  17. Run ProcessMonitor and look what happens during this time.
  18. You should learn one of the most beautiful languages To fix it open the IE options, cklick on "languages" and add "en-us" as first ad remove "de-de". if this doesn't help, go to microsoft.com and at the top you have a link to change the language.
  19. all the tricks should still work. MS only blocks the buildin way to skip the "Modern Win8 UI" aka Metro with the GPO which works in Server 2012. Windows explorer and the Metro UI Dll check if the system is a server and only accepts the GPO there.
  20. WinXP is already in extended support. About which do you talk? POSready?
  21. btw, always install C++ 2005 Runtime first. If there are pending update, the setup fails. So install C++ first and next the Win7 updates. Maybe this information helps somebody.
  22. thanks, I'll test it // Edit works btw, is it possible to restore full Aero Glass support?
