  1. Next on Fox: someone not on MSFN for nearly 2 weeks shocker.
  2. Bill: For me the taskbar flickers every second if you have the clock format set to display seconds. Bizarrely, this stops happening if you move the mouse cursor over the taskbar... is there anything I can do to alleviate this? Also, I've set double left click on the clock to show calendar, but it doesn't seem to work - I can only get to it via the context menu. Do I need to change anything for this (this was actually inherited from my old TClock2 setup, so i only just noticed it). Cheers!
  3. Hiya, While I'm at it, this was updated too Targaff (@#miranda on freenode :> )
  4. Ditto. It does seem to work fine, though, apart from that. Also, it installed Winamp Agent, which didn't make me a happy bunny.
  5. I was about to try it, actually, but it's gone. Wouldn't mind if someone would upload...
  6. Could you not just stick it in \chrome\icons\default\main-window.ico instead? I know it's not quite the same thing, and it doesn't really help with a desktop icon, but if it's causing trouble then it's better than nothing.
  7. Because it's easier for a faceless corporation to threaten the guy with no likely recourse to legal defence than the ones who might actually have the wherewithal to stand up to them.
  8. -I-: did you manage to determine which is the best option?
  9. I'm in the exact same position of having acquired an Audigy off a friend. FYI you can click that link, all it contains is Audigy drivers Generally I think there'd be smackdown if they tried anything untoward like that, so. Anyhow, this appears to be a mirror of the driver CD hosted by Compaq, so you may find that useful insead.
  10. Since we're talking about replacing resources and theoretical stuff, wouldn't it theoretically be possible to edit ntoskrnl.exe so that rather than call the boot logo that's stored internally it instead loads an external one - and also to set a higher resolution and colour depth in the process? I imagine it'd involve a fair amount of step-through work to see what happens where/when, but setting screen resolutions and displaying bitmaps seems relatively uncomplicated to me compared to some of what people here get up to. Just pondering.
  11. Just curious, any particular reason you can't use 6.05? [Edit: RyanVM has it as a switchless installer here.]
  12. If you're going to have Vize, then you might as well go the whole hog and use ReVize
  13. Not that it's relevant now, but you could've tried some of the non-official 3dfx drivers available from this site/forum. Nice new card, though
  14. I'm sure G is completely and utterly unaware of these matters and appreciates your bringing them to his attention.
  15. And isn't it easier just to change that DefaultIcon registry entry rather than reshack the library? I seem to remember that worked fine for me the one time I tried it.
  16. Try http://www.sharpe-shell.org/news.php - it has a download link on it. You'll also see that it's been a long time since the last release, though, so it might be worth holding off until the next one comes along, since they've been making a lot of changes.
  17. I'd be surprised if that patch is really doing 32-bit tray icons anyhow; rather I suspect it's just doing what the hex edits do, i.e. 256-colour, given that it specifically talks about editing the explorer file and (afaik) there is no such available edit to obtain 32-bit icons that way. But hey, feel free to prove me wrong.
  18. Just to note that TClock* might be an easier way to mess around/test this rather than reshacking, since it skins the start button and banner already.
  19. I is right on the media player front; the same argument applies to that as to Firefox (the "browser already available"). It's an "extreme" edition of Windows, not Windows plus preferred apps. In any event, there's no point at all in including both VLC and MPC - just use MPC for the lot.
  20. Bill: I'm on holiday for 2 weeks, so i can't do any testing. I'll have a look when I get back.
  21. No, that's fine; if you can tell me what registry entries I need to clear, I'll generate a .ini for my TClock2 install and then blank it all out in the registry for testing.
  22. Bill: it set my start button and menu bar correctly when I started it up - having got the settings from my TClock2 install, presumably - but the clock was black and explorer crashed when I right clicked on the clock to get the menu (though I was able to call up the menu that way; it just didn't do anything once the crash had occurred). Anything I need to do first before it'll work?
  23. Bill: I'll try and give it a go over the next few days, if I'm not too busy.
  24. Is ICEOWS not a possibility? It doesn't do .7z files, but it manages all the other major players.
