    [BETA] XPize 4.2

Neither's yours, of course, so an argument of geographical inaccuracy is pretty much moot.
  2. Be a shame if Metapad were no longer included, it's probably the one absolute must-have app for me. Still, I can understand why this might be done. New version of Metapad, incidentally.
  3. By T Clock Lite do you mean TClock2? If so, it's in the Tclock2 Properties (right click on tray clock) under Format, check 12H. If not, err, clearly I dunno
  4. Centering the clock and tray on the taskbar, for example? It's looking good, though, great to see.
  5. Looks interesting, I'll be keeping an eye on it. I do note (although this may be obselete with what you're doing) that the start menu banner isn't skinned the first time the start menu is opened (this is with TClock2 running as a startup app), and also if you open it the first time using the Win key rather than a mouse click, it is never skinned unless you restart the app. If these aren't already fixed/irrelevant, any chance you could look into them? Cheers!
  6. I've still not found a convincing argument as to why TClockEx is preferable to TClock2. The latter simply does more things better and more efficiently; the only benefit I've found TClockEx to really have is that it plays nice with trays in XP, which is of course irrelevant here. In any event... third-party apps are probably already straying somewhat from the thread's original intentions, but to stick purely to those that do improve functionality, I heartily recommend RBTray purely for its right-click on minimize function, which I can't live without. I also use PowerMenu, though its great extra functionality is somewhat offset by the fact that it makes the system menu really slow. I'd use WinRoll to replace them both, but I can't get along with the way it's set up and don't know any programming to be able to fix it.
  7. Is that the one I did? Just curious, like.
  8. I just thought I'd add as a PS to this, incidentally, since I can't see it mentioned before, that Dr Hoiby's site does not (currently) have the relevant info for 4.72.3612.1700, listing only the info for 4.72.3110.1. As best I can tell, this information would be: name : explorer.exe size : 171,280 version : 4.72.3612.1700 //------------ Offset 0x3895 : 01 -> 11 Offset 0xB50F : 01 -> 11 Anyone care to verify that?
  9. Just to clarify, the icons aren't a problem in a technical sense; and I'm not an admin, just a user who happens to know how important it is to keep the computers upgraded when no-one else in the firm seems to have a clue (we don't have an admin, just an external support company). Which is where I may have a problem with icons, because the firm doesn't have any right to use the icons, technically, and I don't really have the right to install them, so while I personally have no objections to them, I can see why it might become an issue for others (i.e. said firm) somewhere down the line. I'd rather be able to upgrade the computers surreptitiously, and my having installed files with the icons in makes that more difficult, especially when secretaries are sharp enough to notice (as in one instance) the "second edition" tagged on to the modified boot logo, even though it's not something they would ever have reason to pay attention to. Curse their diligence! I'd just rather not get them or myself into trouble, basically
  10. And therein lies my problem, actually (so I'm glad this thread has occurred) - the place I work at *never* updates properly, and because it obviously leads to problems, I tend to update/fix computers as I go along, which I've done with USP since it's clearly the easiest way to go. Except now I'm realising I'll have to go back to those machines and change the icons back, since they could be a potential source of trouble... I too love using them on my own machine, and replace them without a thought. But the problem with making them optional, I think, would mean including two versions of shell32.dll (each a meg) and 2-3 versions of explorer in the USP. It's a bit of a lose-lose, I think.
  11. Okay, these are the changes you need to make, remembering to back up first, and that I'm not responsible if stuff breaks: For 256-colour tray icons, change the following in explorer.exe (version 5.0.3900.6920, file size 242,448 bytes, located in main Windows directory): at x618E, change 01 to 11 at x12235, change 01 to 11 at x12246, change 01 to 11 To disable WFP, change the following in sfc.dll (version 5.0.2195.6921, file size 94,456 bytes, located in system32 subdirectory to Windows directory): at x6276, change 8B C6 to 90 90 All of these have changed since their respective previous versions, so please make sure that you have the right vesions and the like if you do try them.
  12. I had the replmon.exe bug but thought it was just me being stupid Works great now, many thanks for the man hours and all that. I noticed that there were newer versions than I had previously (SP4, I reckon) of SFC.DLL and EXPLORER.EXE, so I made the relevant changes to disable WFP and make explorer show 256 colour tray icons. I'm not sure how many people will make use of them, but I've attached my modded files for anyone who does. The changes are essentially exactly the same as Dr Hoiby's (for explorer) and the standard 2 byte modification to sfc as per SP4. They work fine for me, but let me know if you have any problems... *looks scared* [Edit: on reflection, it's probably not a good idea for me to upload these here, so I've removed 'em for now. I'll write out the new hex addresses et al when I get a chance tomorrow, since AFAIK they're not available anywhere for these versions. Sorry.]
