  1. Looks like an older file version or mismatch took place. ResKit info
  2. There is a way with WinPE 2004+ to launch any program you want easily, winpeshl.ini, secondly you only need 2 files for RDP to work in PE.
  3. Once you get it setup you will find it to be one of the greatest programs ever invented for many reasons, Virus removal - so many tools that work in this environment, which means no interaction to windows at all while in PE, makes for a much easier way to clean a windows installation and remove malware. Disk prep/installation - Want to install an unattended/sysprep'd/ghost image to a new PC over a network? You can do it with PE simple and easy. These are the main two I use it for and it has been a godsend.
  4. Sounds like driver issues to me, the no change in the Video resolution and the network card should be able to be solved by adding the correct drivers to the distrobution media. //Edit// I got sucked into an article, sorry about the repeat info.
  5. As stated by Chris the OPKs step you through the process you menioned, if you need help adding any third party programs to Microsoft WinPE be sure to post it up here. Also alot of the plugins for Bart's can be used in Microsofts version by simply looking at the INF from the plugin, granted it is a pain but it works. HTH
  6. If you need some help just post.
  7. Have you tried booting it with a Microsoft PE 2004 disc?
  8. Frodo - I believe you mistook the comment, he was reffering to here(MSFN), NOT 911CD. So your long winded rant was not called for, here we tend to a bit more reserved and professional. HTH
  9. Microsoft gave me PPT doc about 6 months ago that had the development tack of PE 2004 and 2005 (called PE 1.5 and 1.6 at that time). Chris I saw the same thing, I have not heard if that has fallen off to the wayside. But I remember it being a issue with the SP1 for SMS OSD, that being the failure to be able to edit WIM's.
  10. In winpe 2004 you can define an IP address in the winbom.ini file I believe it is in the help file. Ah here is the entry in the Winbom.ini Also check out the OEM Newsgroups in the Pinned post about your dual nics, I think I saw one there.. "Helpful links for WinPe from MS" HTH
  11. Don't agree with you on that, due to the fact if you do so it is unsupported by microsoft and they inform you in the OEM website to use a temp dir and the oscdimg.
  12. Agreed, the server service is not started and also not included.
  13. Might want to start a new topic for this with clear instructions in the first post that way people aren't scouring through 6 pages and asking the same questions?
  14. You need to do it after you build your CD I use the temp dir. And then edit the txtsetup.sif there.
  15. To my knowledge you can't. Chris or Mike would know better though.

    FixMBR

This looks to be a great program! I know it would have been handy for me the other week. I will definately try it and give some info on it. Thanks again, hope to see more of you in the forums.
  17. Did you add all of these files? 2 = System32 4 = system32\drivers
  18. I have never seen that boot screen for PE, but the normal " Loading Windows Preinstallation Enviroment " screen can be changed in the txtsetup.sif file.
  19. 1. I don't use Explorer sorry, to much of a pain. I Use the Nu2Menu. 2. Ghost is simple just copy the exe and it will run from inside PE. I Image all the time this way. 3. I believe Sala posted one in these forums sometime ago. and jst recently updated it for SP2. You can google salasource and you should find it. 4. In the opk.chm I believe in 1.2 are the instructions for adding drivers. 5. Adaware is far to much trouble to get in PE, I use Paragon Partition Manager, Filezilla (ftp), K-meleon (inet), Irfanview, TrendMicro and McAfee(cmdline) AV's. Other than that I don't really need much.
  20. I suggest going here, http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroup...s.oem.windowsxp , and see if anyone else has had a similiar problem.
  21. Your best bet would be to use a DVD for now, until atleast winpe 2005, which "really" supports the /inram switch.
  22. I too would like to add NTBackup but I remember the days of trying to get MMC to work in windows PE, I eventually gave up. Maybe over the Holiday I will look into this. BTW welcome.
  23. Did you try to mount the hives on the same install of the XP, and by that I do not mean version. Because I have found that say if you build your PE from the OPK then, you reformat your drive you will not be able to mount the hives, you will be able to mount them on SP1 but not on SP2 for some reason, MS said that they cannot reproduce this but I know a couple people have. If this is the case you can simply build a new version of PE and copy the hives to the appropriate dir's in your older build after modifying them. HTH
  24. I created a VBS that would prompt for the username, machine name, etc. save it as the new unattended file and then send it to a %temp% locale to be called later by the setup. Just a thought.
  25. As stated above the 24hr time limit is used by Microsoft to eliminate the use of it as a everyday OS. In my experience with PE I have never had to have the disc run for more than 24hours in a recovery situation. Now the 6 process limit is another issue, this was addressed in WinPE 2004(1.5) {and the Longhorn PE builds} with the addition of Winpeshl.exe and the answer file WinpeShl.ini this in itself was worth another 3 or 30 pack to me. And as for the 24hour time limit, removal is illegal if I am not mistaken.
