This is a nice post. Good job. Will be very helpful to people who are into the PE scene.

I have gotten the ADO to work in PE, and actually connect but I have never received that error. Sorry not much of help. But sometimes I have to recopy the files from the OPK disk to the test machine in order to get certain aspects back to normal for ecample the biggest things that get farked are the hives for me atleast.

This is mainly due to PE not having a pagefile, you can add a ram drive though and try to diect it there.

What version of PE are you using Microsoft or Bart?

@BtS-- It is more than likely not legal. But it can be obtained from Microsoft if you are a OEM for $60 along with the *required* hardware from Microsoft.

easy way is to just not load networking support unless you need it. edit your STARTNET.CMD or just use regedit to make PE not use it in the firstplace and then if you need it maunally start it by typing it in the cmd window

As of right now it is pro, but they are trying to reduce the cost of it for OEM's so they are in the process of moving to Home. Also there is a rumor that in the future you might be able to buy MCE as a standalone OS.

Are you using custom or express? I use custom and have no problems at all. I can post up screens if you want but I don't think it is necessary. --Even with express I have no issues.

Ok so they changed it from a while ago, I just checked again That is not the case I don't use automatic updates and it works fine.

Also on the WU V5 site, just go here http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com, it is the express installer and there was a message stating that there will be a new version of 2162 for WU5. For the .NET I now someone said that they had done it but it wouldn't work for anyone else, as for the C++ I haven't heard of anyone trying to do it before. Not much help I know sorry.

I don see this key what is the actual name of the key. When i load the software.hiv I don't see that key in the SOFTWARE\Microsoft\windows\current version\explorer\ and then there is no clsid string it that bad boy.

I know in XP you can modify this well in PE, I cannot seem to figure out how to do it, what happens is when you mount the software.hiv and go to th correct set of keys, the string value is not there, but when you boot-up pe and look again you will see it has been created. So does anyone know which file makes this happen, I have gone through the setupreg.hiv and the software.hiv and i am at a loss.
