I think Unofficial Windows 7 Service Pack 2 is also better name because when Microsoft released the Windows 7 SP1 Convenience Rollup, most people already considered it kinda like a SP2 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/convenience-rollup-update-for-windows-7-sp1-and-windows-server-2008-r2-sp1-da9b2435-2a1c-e7fa-43f5-6bfb34767d65 https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-to-obtain-and-install-windows-7-sp2/c2c7009f-3a10-4199-9c89-48e1e883051e

Have you tried putting the graphics card into another computer to see if it has the same issue? If it is getting worse your card may be dying or maybe some other hardware is failing...

It is a known bug by Nvidia that can happen regardless of OS. It might only be fixed in newer W10/W11 drivers R570 or higher. As an alternative solution, have you tried DDU to completely reset your settings and remove any leftover files ? https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/

Ah true, for a moment I put Intel and Microsoft in the same bag. -
Intel 8th-9th Gen processors will reach ESU on June 30, 2025
superleiw replied to halohalo's topic in Windows 11
I have 2 computers with 9th Gen Intel CPUs still on 23H2 that all of sudden are not compatible with W11 24H2 and higher anymore? Or is this affecting only new OEM sales ? Looks like I'll be "upgrading" to W10 LTSC instead then because I just can't be bothered to use workarounds. -
joop, people could think you are trolling winver clearly shows Version 6.2 (9200) so yes -> W8.0 anyway , thanks for the info about FF ESR 115

My Windows XP OS Addons and Update Pack (2023)
superleiw replied to Zorba the Geek's topic in Application Add-Ons
I didn't know but abbodi has indeed already created a fully updated .NET Framework AIO for NT 5.1 and 5.2 https://github.com/abbodi1406/dotNetXP His AIO contains an extensive list of updates ; hotfixes, custom updates, regular updates, posready updates and even the latest Vista NET 3.5 updates from 2024 are included (compatible with NT5.1 apparently) so I don't really think making another .NET Framework AIO is needed unless he is missing some updates??? In his thread over at MDL, George King also mentionned how to make an addon for nLite out of it : https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/repack-net-framework-aio-for-windows-xp-server-2003-2024-10-10.85522/page-4#post-1836119- 76 replies

I had done some tests with Opera and it worked until version 112 with the modifications. Version 113 didn't work anymore because it started using Chromium 126. https://msfn.org/board/topic/184454-last-version-of-software-for-windows-81/page/10/#findComment-1274614

Well the question now is whether you are willing to share how to do it I'm also wondering if it's possible natively Waterfox G6.0.20 works for W7+ but it seems the latest builds now require W10+ https://www.waterfox.net/download/ There is also "Tor Browser" based off ESR128 that runs on W7+ however it goes through the Tor Network https://github.com/Blaukovitch/Mozilla_Firefox_Windows_7/releases

Just tested it in a Virtual Machine and manually installing the Server 2012 Updates up until October 2023 on Windows 8.0 without registry modifications to the Windows edition and without going through Windows Update still works fine ! https://postimg.cc/G965L5LQ

The latest versions of FF are not easily moddable anymore. They are now hardcoded to require internal Windows files only present on W10+ The last version that could easily be modded was 132. And there's also 128 ESR still. Alternatively there's also Redfox, which has released a modded 133 but 134 might need a little bit more time. https://github.com/Eclipse-Community/r3dfox https://github.com/Eclipse-Community/r3dfox/releases/tag/v133.0e

Well 2 months ago I had a Windows 8.0 VM and was able to install the November 2024 Monthly Rollup and .NET Framework updates just fine. Have not tested beyond that. Note that I was using some kind of *ahem* bypass *ahem*. I did this for testing purposes. The ESU updates are updates which corporations and/or universities pay for, of course Microsoft just won't allow to install those normally for everybody else. Even on Server 2012 it won't work without valid ESU licenses. Some kind of hack or bypass is required. Without it the updates will seem to install fine at first but at some point it will throw an error message that the changes are being reverted.
-
The first Server 2012 ESU update was released in November 2023 so Monthly Rollups or security-only updates released before that can still be applied to Windows 8.0

Recently I tried all of the .NET Runtimes from 6.0 to 9.0. All of them can be installed without problem on 8.1. Both the x86 and x64 versions. Then again I only installed them, I have not done extensive testing to see if programs that rely on it are fully compatible.

There is a bug in the FF Nightly versions right now. It doesn't even run on W10 or W11. Maybe the upcoming fixed version will bring back compatibility with 8.1 as well (when modded). Found this on Reddit : https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1ha6efm/comment/m16f08z/ https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1ha6efm/comment/m17af1a/

For Chromium-based browser, Supermium still works right now. It is compatible with Windows XP, 2003, Vista, 7 and 8.x There is also Thorium, but the last build is from June 2024. It is compatible with Windows XP/Vista & 7/8/8.1 but it will not receive any more updates. The latest releases are W10+ only and can be found HERE !

What do you mean? W7/8/8.1 is still supported with Firefox ESR 115 until at least March 2025. ESR 128 also still works with the mod (at least on 8.1). Only the latest nightly builds do not work anymore. I have not used App Verifier before, I'll give it a try.

The latest Firefox Nightly 134 doesn't work on W8.1 either. Changing the OS Requirement from "000A" to "0006" in Firefox.exe is not enough anymore. Firefox Nightly is still detecting that the OS is not Win10 (or higher).

It's an unsigned driver and it needs the certificate to be imported first for the driver to be seen as valid. But useless anyway for your hardware like you said. 700 MB is normal nowadays, Nvidia is pretty much the same there. To keep in perspective though, yea 700 MB is one whole CD-R !

Does anyone know how to patch Uxtheme.dll to be able to use custom themes with the latest Server 2012 updates? Even the latest UltraUXThemePatcher is not compatible with it anymore (but is compatible with Server 2012 R2 latest updates)

Opera 113.0.5230.31 doesn't work either. So some notable change happened between version 112.0.5197.53 and 113.0.5230.31 ! The Reason -> Chromium is updated to 126.0.6468.2 Changelog : https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/changelog-for-113/

I have also tested the latest Opera version 114.0.5282.185 (as of Nov. 12th) and it's still a no-go ! If anybody else wants to look into why it doesn't work anymore, please share any knowledge you can find. I'm also sharing a method on how to obtain DWrite.dll from W10 TP Build 9926 without having to download the whole OS if it can help anyone. As a matter of fact Build 9926 received a few Windows Updates, one of them containing a slightly updated DWrite.dll (10.0.9926.6) https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/windows-10-technical-preview-update-rollup-february-4-2015-c6e538c6-01ca-b3c9-41f2-c959ae900473 You can download that update from here : https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB3036140 Extract .msu to .cab then extract & expand .cab or use a tool like KB_Extractor Inside the folder "amd64_microsoft-windows-directwrite_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.9926.6_none_ad78ee61b6b96033" you will then find DWrite.dll (x64) Inside the folder "x86_microsoft-windows-directwrite_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.9926.6_none_515a52ddfe5beefd" you will then find DWrite.dll (x86) KB_Extractor_1.2.0.0.zip
