HOTFIXES: Windows XP SP2 & Windows 2000 SP4
the_guy replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
New updates for 2000 SP4. KB911564 and KB911565 for WMP 9. (links for kb articles posted above) Also there is the updated MRT 1.13. Could you please update the 2000 section as soon as you can. the_guy -
Post updated with new updates. The new IE update is NOT required for IE6. The new WMP update supersedes 885492 (911565). 911564 does not supersedew any updates. There is also an update for WMP 7.1 available in the article for 911565. the_guy

You should restart your computer after installing this anyway. After a restart, those processes will be loaded. New release in a few days to update the unofficial 891711 update (or just install that update) the_guy

Hey guys, the cold I was fighting has gone away. I did add the dcom tools erpdude, and I hope that this version works fine. I have decided to call this version beta 1. I will probably have to make an emergency update if there are any new updates for ME released tomorrow. the link is http://www11.rapidupload.com/d.php?file=dl&filepath=6865]here. It is at RapidUpload. There are a lot of changes in this version. If anyone finds a bug, let me know. the_guy

The IE cumulative update maybe used if using FDV's fileset, but it is user's choice. Some files updated by it are not removed with the fileset. the_guy

Just a heads up, The latest IE update that will work with 95 is 867801 on IE5.5 SP2. details are on http://erpman1.tripod.com/iewmpupd.html. Download it, click start -> run -> browse to where you saved the update -> add a /q /c suffix to the name (at the very end, one space after the last character), extract it to a temporary directory -> open a command prompt to that directory and run ieupdate q867801 The latest version of DirectX that works with 95 is 8.0a. there is an unofficial update for 95 on MDGx's site that should work on 95. the_guy

If 2003 gold is supported, then the file it should copy in that case is ws03res.dll instead of w03a2409.dll the_guy

833989 is NOT for XP and 2003. They use 833987 instead of 833989. the_guy
-
Tomcat, I know this topic is 2003, but on your XP SP1a updates, you have 833989. The correct KB for SP1a and 2003 retail is 833987. You can find the links in MS04-028. the_guy

No, it's not there. It must have been installed after Windows was installed. the_guy
-
I'm pretty sure I didn't. But, I probably did. That computer had 98SE on it, XP new install, 2003 new install. Some files were probably missed as there were no formats in between. the_guy

I am running a 2K3 enterprise server trial w/ SP1. Msxml4.dll is in that folder, 4.20.9818.0. SP1 includes msxml4 SP2, but not the 887606 update. I mean the original release (SP0). the_guy

Nice list. On your site you have . Windows Server 2003 SP1 includes WMP10, so that is not needed. It also includes Windows Script 5.6.0.8827 (Windows Script 5.6 downloadable is 8825). The only things on that list which are safe to add for SP1 would be WUv4 and Office Update. All of those things can be added for RTM if you are including that. the_guy EDIT: I believe 2003 SP1 includes msxml4 sp2 + the 887606 update.

Issue fixed. I was using firefox 1.0.7, but I just upgraded it to 1.5 and it works. the_guy
-
It still happens. In fact, only one change is done to the bottom. The only change is the addition of a service pack. The same is on the XP page. Also, on the XP page, when you check the Let HFSLIP slipstream the Service Pack option and SP1a is selected, SP2 still shows up at the bottom. the_guy EDIT: it seems that the Windows Update v4 and the Office Update options work. I believe that anything added before today does not work properly.
-
Tomcat76, I just went on your 2000 update site and there are problems. The list won't update for IE, WMP, or DX, no matter what. Could you fix this? the_guy EDIT: same with the XP page.

Hey all, sorry about the delay, I'm fighting a cold and I couldn't get on here for a couple of days. The dcom configuration tools are being added to the next version. I still have some questions about the unofficial updates, but for now are still in the SUPP.CAB file. the_guy

Hey all, You guys can expect a new version by this weekend. Some things are fixed: 1) System Restore/SFP are automatically disabled before and after the main update. 2) 908519 is added (With the correction required to the QFE info section). 3) Configmg.vxd 4.90.3002 is added 4) Pci.vxd is now version 4.90.3003 5) WUINFO.INF is fixed 6) There is a prompt before uninstall starts I have a few questions before I release the next version: 1) Should the unofficial updates (krnl386.exe and update.sys) be moved to the SO2.CAB folder (and thus being preserved like the other files) 2) Should the unofficial 912919 update be installed with the main update or the unofficial updates? 3) Should I merge the main update and the unofficial update sections? the_guy
-
Yes. The latest version is a3. You can download it from a link I posted a page or 2 back (can't remember it right now), but it's on RapidUpload.com. the_guy

Thank you Petr, all of these fixes should be implemented into the next version. Some things you mentioned will probably stay, unfortunately: 1394bus.sys and vmm.vxd errors the moviemk problem These thing I will keep in: auupd.exe How would I go about making sure stmgr.exe is really stopped? the_guy
-
Thank you x-pert. Will put into the post right away. Never thought this would happen early. the_guy
-
Thanks Gape. Just realized how. Will be included in the next version. Just need suggestions for updates or some ways to fix bugs and the next release will be out ASAP. the_guy
-
@erpdude8: I am not a coder so therefore I have no idea how to make a box to pop up saying to disable System Restore and SFP. Other than that, there are some bugs which i hope to squash before the final is out (very far from now, probably). @all: If anyone can, could they code a little message to say that. Maybe I could get someone to modify the popup in infex 0.3beta to say that. Also, Does anyone have any (within reason) suggestions for the next release? There are almost no updates available for ME's version of WMP and DX. the_guy

That file has been removed. I took it out as soon as a2 was released PS. check your inbox. I sent you an email. the_guy
