  1. From what I understood of that post, it meant that you had to copy the files in the sp2.cab into the WIN98 dir, not the cab file. I'm not really sure if the cab file would be the same or not, but it might not copy those files. the_guy
  2. Yeah. Download the full version of microsoft.com, burn it to the CD, and double-click the file on the currupt computer, and your done. You can also download Gurgelmeyer's Unofficial SP5 in the thread titled Windows 2000 Hotstream Project. That has all of the latest updates. the_guy
  3. System Restore is NOT available for Windows 2000. What you should probably do is install 2000 SP4 (if it is an option) after a reformat or you can go into the control panel and uninstall SP2, then install sp4. the_guy
  4. I couldn't find a thread on hacked files for windows 2000 SP4/URP1, so I decided to make one. Mods, if there is another thread on this, please let me know. explorer.exe version 5.00.3900.6920 modified to allow 256 color icons sfc.dll version 5.00.3900.6921 modified to disable WFP Copy these files using a Win98/ME boot floppy (with FAT32) or run Recovery Console from the 2k CD (with NTFS). MAKE SURE TO BACK UP THESE FILES FIRST! Copy explorer.exe to the WINDOWS\WinNT folder, and copy sfc.dll to the system32 folder. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT FILE VERSION! files are attached in a .zip file. Please let me know what to change in the latest version if there are additional files that can be modified. the_guy ATTACHMENT REMOVED DUE TO LACK OF DOWNLOADS.
  5. Ok. I cannot help you then. I have absolutely no idea.
  6. If you pop out the cd and pop it back in, do you see anything on that computer? Just a little suggestion. the_guy
  7. To download, just click the image in Gurgelmeyer's signature and choose the top option on that page. You can also download parts of the option pack, the other 3 links. the_guy
  8. ok. If you need any files from XP, let me know. Something on MDGx's website shows how to update Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player to the Version included in SP2. I'd ask him if they work with windows 2000 or not. Other than that, This service pack is really good. the_guy
  9. Good job Gurgelmeyer. I will download the Final ASAP. Do you know when the Option Packs are coming out (or have a chart saying how much of them are done)? the_guy
  10. 1. Use iexpress and makecab. Newest version is in Windows XP SP2 or Windows Server 2003 SP1 (don't know which version is newer). Public download is in the IEAK 6 SP1. Just put all of the files in the same folder and start>run>iexpress and follow the directions on your screen. 2. No idea. I've tried automatic updates in 98SE and I just can't get it to work AT ALL. 3. I'm not sure, but I think you will have to use a batch file. Again, I don't really know. I don't even know how to make a batch file. the_guy
  11. Another problem could be in the BIOS. You might have your BIOS set up so It looks at the hard drive for an OS before it looks at the CD drive. You need to look for something like Boot Priority. I personally would have it at FDD->CD ROM->HDD, or something similar. You just need to have your CD ROM ahead of your HDD. the_guy
  12. Another little idea, How hard would it be to add the WI-FI support in XPSP2 to 2000?? If it isn't hard, it could be a good idea for the extreme edition. That's all of my ideas for now. the_guy
  13. Well from what I saw on the news last night, eyewitnesses are saying that the plan got hit by lightning, meaning that this was out of the pilots control.
  14. One problem with that is that you must modify everything manually in Windows 2000. Is there a way that the .theme file will work with windows 2000? If so, it will be a really good idea to put it in. the_guy
  15. There is an installer available on the internet which installs msconfig from windows xp on windows 2000. the link is below http://www.3feetunder.com/files/win2k_msconfig_setup.exe Just thought I would let you know the_guy
  16. It's looking good. I myself would use the extreme edition because it would be XP without a lot of crap. A suggestion would be including Hearts, Spider Solitaire, and the Internet Games from ME into the Option Pack (would probably fit into the extreme category). the_guy
  17. This is a really good idea. If you need another beta tester on windows 2000 pro with sp4 slipstreamed in, i will be able to test it out for you. Good luck. I just wish that microsoft released service pack 5 (i'm probably not alone) instead of a rollup pack and a lot of hotfixes. Good luck in finishing up Gurgelmeyer.

    ACPI

I have a computer which had the exact same problem. To fix it I had to update the BIOS, enable ACPI, and Reinstall Windows XP. If this does not fix it, i don't know what to tell ya.
