  1. what happens when u clean the prefetch data?
  2. i didnt get who are u a fanboy of? linux, or macosx? screw that..
  3. kartel, i noticed that on one of the screens it says radeon 9600 pro.. and the last one says radeon 9600.. ah, btw your signature says radeon 9600 SE which one do u have after all? mine is nothing special.. i've always got 3.4, even before adding 1gig of ram.. no readyboost devices, no nothing.. a friend of mine with a radeon 9600 pro scores 3.8 or something like that.. so it's normal for a 9600 non-pro to score around 3.5.. something may be wrong on your end..
  4. u measured the default and the noGUI boot screen? i guess microsoft would've used another, more colorful and animated bootscreen, not the noGUI one..
  5. that one was nothing special.. give us the other one!
  6. it's an expected behavior, although confusing..
  7. a friend of mine had the same problem with the partitions when he installed by booting from the dvd.. so he formated vista's partition and installed from XP through daemon tools.. otherwise the drives are so f***en messed up.. vista's partition becomes C, and every next is an incrementation of the previous.. when it hits the last partition, it starts from the beginning if there are drives before vista's partition - that really sux..
  8. start winXP, rightclick ur vista partition -> Format i've done that 3-4 times and it has always worked..
  9. yeah foobar2000 is very difficult to configure.. yesterday i downloaded ready configs submited to their forums and even then.. most of the stuff didnt work.. missing components, libraries, .. the thing is, foobar2000 is light, starts fast and music just sounds better..
  10. ram is supposed to be used and i agree with that.. but used reasonably.. what's the sense of using poorly written programs to stuff up my memory with s***? i have enough memory (1.5 gigs) but i prefer to run light programs anyway.. those 10 megs more can be put to some useful purpose - like vista's superfetch, or something like that.. anyways, i prefer to listen all my music from foobar2000.. what's the purpose of having different programs for that.. well, it has some "one-may-find-useful" features..
  11. i dont need a desktop for anything else than store s*** which i'll probably delete as soon as i download.. http://launchy.net/ does it all i cant live without it..
  12. currently listening to http://powerhitz.com/ .. screamer.exe memory: 17.5mb vm size: 10mb light? hell, no foobar2000 can do the same with no more than 10 megs..
  13. Mangix, do u use spybot s&n that often to have it as the second item in your quick launch? anyways, nice and clean desktop.. mine is the same from time to time, when i have time to get rid of all the s***..
  14. uvmain, not exactly.. everest measured my memory bandwidth to 4500 mb/s with 2x256 - dual channel now without dual-channel the bandwidth is 2500mb/s vista before: 2,9 (2x256 - dual) vista now: 4,1 (2x256 + 1gb - single) so, it's not all about bandwidth..
  15. lol i installed the filter and i still get that error..
  16. "Click OK to browse for a full Windows installation CD" i seem to have got that wrong.. i decided that it thinks that my files are corrupt or something was missing and wants me to point it to a full (uncorrupted) installation CD.. i think it will work now.. too lazy to restart atm..
  17. i'm still geting the filter error using vLite on Windows XP.. it doesnt matter if i emulate the iso and point to the drive or copy the files and pointing to the folder.. vLite still provides me with that error.. install the filter manually? where do i get it from?
  18. emulated my iso with daemon tools and browsed for the location: --------------------------- Error --------------------------- Mounting image error. It needs Filter Manager. Error: 5 Do you want to install it now? Choose OK to browse for a full Windows installation CD. However if it did worked for you and now stopped due to some error then just reboot your machine and retry. --------------------------- OK Cancel ---------------------------
  19. i know that nlite was that way too, but isnt there a way to edit the iso directly? without extracting the files to a folder? it's nice to see it released.. beta, but still.. gj, nuhi
  20. the default separator for numbers is different for different countries and cultures.. it's determined by the regional settings.. LOL.. radeon 9600pro - 2.2.. lol.. no way..
  21. when i initially installed vista i barely saw the boot screen.. the progress bars used to go by no more than 4-5 times.. yesterday i did a very stupid thing - i used ccleaner to clear some crap.. after that i restarted.. while going for restart it provided me with an error (explorer.exe cant read from address 0x0000 or something like that..) then, when it started booting, the progress bars went by 4-5 times, the screen flashed, and the they went by 10-15 more times i would think that that's prefetch - prefetching stuff so that it's faster after the welcome screen, but no.. it's not faster at all.. now my overall startup time is more than a minute. it used to be a minute sharp before.. anyone got a clue, what could've caused that? when i clear the prefetch it boots normaly and than again the bars go by 20 times..
  22. yeah i saw the tweak but i didnt understand what is it exactly doing.. keeping it on but suppressing pop-ups? what happens when some program tries to modify a system file or something? does it suppress the UAC pop-up and give it admin privileges or turns it down automatically?
  23. interesting article.. http://mcadonline.com/index.php?option=com...9&Itemid=73 pray for some opengl **** it.. there's no way i can completely switch with no opengl support..
