  1. i have a similar problem with my XP installation. after resuming from hibernate certain sites do not open: 1. http://digg.com/ 2. http://microsoft.com/ and a lot more.. if i start windows normally everything works fine.. hibernating under vista works fine.. maybe those are related issues
  2. same problem.. couldnt share something to a friend.. there's no way to share it for the whole network (hundreds of users..) i cant create an account for everyone.. that sucks..
  3. the ati catalyst RC1 drivers currently have no opengl support which can even be seen in the release notes.. anyone know when to expect such support? any news from ati on the catalyst vista drivers about that?
  4. well obviously when u restart there isnt a mounted drive.. if it needed it it would display an error.. when u first start the setup it copies all the files to c:\somefolder..\ and the reboots.. it finishes the install from there.. that's why u need to have 3 gigs free on c:\ - the install files are copied there and then expanded and moved to the selected partition.. installation of vista without a dvd drive IS possible and has always been
  5. that truly is the best way to do it.. but emulating works too for people without a dvd-rom
  6. u just emulate the image file and follow the instructions.. it works just fine.. the problem was a corrupt windows installation so it didnt work.. install took 40 minutes here..
  7. done.. the problem was a corrupt windows installation.. i installed a fresh copy of windows on another partition and emulated the iso with daemon tools.. no 100% cpu this time.. everything went fine..
  8. installation on several CDs would be cool.. not that i will waste 5 CDs for RC1.. but i certainly would for the final release.. btw, till it gets final i will have a dvd burner and stuff, and one more gig of ram so that wont be a problem.. the way i run the setup.exe is not important - everything leads to the same problem.. which means that either my windows installation is corrupted and causes it to go to 100% cpu or it's a hardware incompability, right? i'll install a fresh copy of windows on another drive today and try to run the setup
  9. i tried without a key too.. 100% cpu whatever edition i select..
  10. intel p4 2,6HT, msi i865pe neo-2, 2x256mb (DDR 400 mhz) i have a partition prepared.. i have free space on C: for the installation files, but why is it hammering my cpu every time i enter the key or selecting vista ultimate manually.. i even tried entering invalid keys - 100% cpu for a couple of seconds and a "wrong key" message.. what i tried so far: 1. emulating with daemon tools (4.03, 3.47) 2. emulating with alcohol (120%, 52%) 3. installing from a folder (d:\setup\..) 4. installing from a partition (f:\) i've seen several people install it with an emulator.. all i know is that it's not just me.. one other guy has the same problem like me (100% cpu, freeze at cd-key step).. i really have no clue.. i thought new builds are intentionally made not to install with emulators and stuff like that.. only from dvd..
  11. i know i can.. is there any way to do it without one?
  12. previous builds could be installed without a dvd - either by emulating with daemon tools (or alcohol) or extracting the files and running setup.exe all the methods that used to work before, now cause setup.exe to go to 100% cpu when entering the key (or selecting the version manually).. is there any way to install it without a dvdrom?
  13. any links for updates from the last tuesday-patch day that we can integrate to our UACDs? the first post has not been updated yet.. KB916595 KB914388 KB917159 that's all i need.. windows xp..
  14. can anyone post some germany 2006 wallpapers? like WolfX2's and someone's wallpaper who posted a couple of pages before..
  15. can i install it from D:\VistaInstall\ to E:\ or i have to create a new drive and copy the files there, not in a folder? thx that will save me some time creating another useless partition
  16. btw is there a way to change the original windows xp navigation bar - back, forward, up, ... with a different way? iirc it was in shell32.dll where can i get some resources to replace it with? vista's one is cool.. there was such a thing created by FOOOOD but i dont like the icons
  17. can anyone tell me which windows theme is that? from that post..
  18. looks like this one.. http://www.crystalxp.net/news/en13-crystal...sual-style.html but i prefer the black edition http://www.crystalxp.net/galerie/en.id.101.htm
  19. actually something else happened to me at the last step of the install (completing installation - please do not restart during this time) there was a power cut.. not everything was installed and it started installing again.. i stopped it and booted in XP (using miniPE to delete some files, fixmbr in the recovery console, blahblah..) i opened boot.ini and i saw that and started searching for bcedit.exe but never found it.. i guess it wasn't able to install.. anyways i fixed the problem
  20. i got rid of it fixboot fixmbr format d
  21. i bet its a good deal for opera
  22. are some of vista's files write protected because i can't delete them..? i guess formating is the only way?
  23. 10x i'll try that i guess the "format the vista partition thing" is because i cant delete the files now.. it says access denied in miniPE too... i can't try in linux (NTFS.... no way to delete)
